It’s morning in the Sucipto household. Though Ida can be a real turkey and poor Soemar is the henpecked husband, ultimately they love each other a lot.

Breakfast begins with some sort of pastry. Princess the Cat sleeps soundly on the sofa as Sista talks about the recent burglaries.

Meanwhile, Kang Boy is washing the car diligently outside.

Ruruh Soedono is Ida Sucipto’s younger sister who is a dressmaker and owns a big house that used to be a barn back in the colonial days. She has converted the front area into her studio, while the back part was to be her home, and some of the upper floors rented out. She lives with Roberta K.M., her longtime gal pal who is a retired hospital administrative staff; Anintya Utamisari, a pious and nervous employee of Ruruh’s; Natasha Setiawan, a rebellious and confident employee; and Mang Junet Harun, the handyman of the house. Of course then there’s her guinea pig Ayam (Indonesian for ‘chicken’), and the back garden, which are planted with strawberries, cucumbers, cauliflowers, lettuces, watermelons, and dahlias.

While Bu Ruruh seems to be getting along well with Natasha, she seems to be less fond of Tya’s constant fusses and lectured her on her naive belief in propaganda about the Illuminati. Meanwhile, Mang Junet proves himself to be quite the playboy as he flirts around with the local women. He first teases this farmer’s wife but to no avail, earning the judgment of the cat. As Amalia rethinks his advances, the cat leaves, thinking of how big of a schmuck Junet is. After Amalia accepts his advances, they decide to go for a little bit of fun at the back garden. Scandalous! What would Bu Ruruh say if she caught them?

Dog Eared Books & The Place

Every Friday night, Dog Eared Books shows a classic movie for $1, popcorn included. Next door is The Place, a popular diner that attracts teens for its low prices and casual atmosphere.

I built this ages ago as a spot for Gabriela to hang out. It started off as me trying to modify a jenba lot (even though they’re perfection and her builds are 2429304 times better than mine), which is why the cafe part might seem familiar!! I was hesitant to share because of that but I feel like it’s a whole different lot now. And I really wanted to make a lil Gilmore Girls inspired bookstore that shows old movies for the townies :) Enjoy!!
