“Goodbye mum, I’m gonna-”

“Make sure you check with your landlord about the condition of the current alarms and security software. The last thing you need is a break in since you have no insurance.” She cuts off, her eyes cold and her face stern.

“...Oh ok. I’ll make sure I do..”

“Bye Jace, try not to trash my room while I’m gone.”

“Sorry sis, that room’s mine now. Hope your bed’s comfy,” He teases, his boyish smirk causing Isla to roll her eyes, giving his shoulder a playful nudge.

“I’m gonna miss you so much dad. Expect a call everyday”

“I’ll hold you to that. Don’t grow up too much, okay?”

“I’ll try.”
