often meet at the nakahara house to

dazai forgot about the hate that they
share for each other because of the
alcohol.
DAZAI - she hated dazai for making
chuuya join the mafia and then
leaving. Back in the mafia, even if
she didn't trusted dazai, she was
always paired with chuuya and
dazai. They started to get along
after she joined the agency
and after some years they stared
dating. They are alway annoying
each other or kinikida by cuddling
all day, or dazai not doing his work
because he was too distracted by
her. The only person that has ever
seen dazai cry or heard his true
emotions and feeling is shigure and
she promised him that she will not tell anyone. They are a very
powerful couple in every way
possible even if they seems to be
lazy and clumsy but they only work
hard when they feel like there is no
other way. Shigure, just like Dazai has a
very atractive look and personality
so she can also get want she wants
from almost everyone especially
men even if it implies flirting with
an another man but because dazai
does the same with other women
and he knows that there is no real
feeling behind those flirting words
and he is not jealous at all.
ODASAKU - he was like a father for
her. He was always bringing
chocolate for her when she was a
kid, before becoming a mafia
member. He is the only one other
than dazai who knows her deepest
secrets and weaknesses and he
doesn't really trust dazai around her
especially after finding that she has a
low self esteem and she is very
naive, and knowing that dazai has a
desire to commit a double suicide
with a beautiful woman, and that's
the worst combination.
He taught her so many things about
fighting, about the mafia, even life
tips and love advices even if she was
a little too young for that. She only
found out about odasakus death
after like two years, on a mission
when chuuya accidentally
mentioned him and mori reminded
him that he is gone, and after finding
the way he passed away, she hated
dazai for "letting odasaku die"
AKUTAGAWA - back in the days when
she was in the mafia he saw her as
a pretty hard working person but
when she left he lost his trust on
her and consider her a traitor and
a "get anything she wants" kind of
person after staring to date dazai.
KUNIKIDA - after he found out she
was a former mafia member,
they just never get along for some
reasons. He was always so
organized and obsessed with his
work, and she was so messy and
laid back. He was always shouting
at her for the dumb shits dazai
was doing even if it wasn't her
faul. Ar the first time when he saw
her, he tough that she was 15 not 22.
After some time he started to get
used to her acts, trying not to get
angry knowing that this is what she
was looking for as well as dazai.
Sometimes when she run out of
paper she just beg dazai to get her
some paper and he casually take
kunikida notebook and she start to
draw in it but this doesn't seems to
bother him that much because he
like her art style but if dazai
intervenes in this and draws
inappropriate things in his
notebook he just go crazy.
ATSUSHI - everyone who is friends
with dazai, is his friend too. She
sometimes take advantage of his
naivety to do some nasty parts of
her job but he was more than
happy to help. He was always
cheering her up and praised her
even if at first, when atsushi have
been for the first time at the agency,
he was scared by her. He first meet
her when she came to atsushis
house because of kunikidas
insistence to bring dazai back to the
agency after he tried to end his life
again.
RAMPO - she sometimes spends her
lunch breaks with Ramapo when
dazai is not annoying or clinging
into her like he always do. Rampo is
one of the not so many agency
members that she is always chill
around.
KOUYOU - she taught her to fight and
she took her under her wings getting
attached by her quickly and not
trusting mori enough to let her with
him. She taught and educated her so
well various topics like girl things,
ways to kill someone easy and
quietly, meal recipes, etc. She was
like a mother for her even if the age
gap isn't that big as well as odasakus.
Shigure was feeling very guilty after
leaving the mafia, for betraying
kouyou and leaving her alone as well
as Kyoka will do in the future.
YOSANO - at first yosano didn't
trusted her at all because she knew
that she was a former mafia
member because they flighted
previously. But after some time
passed, they became partners in
crime. They would spend so much
time together gossiping, shopping
and just chatting. They relationship
is so good now that almost everyone
at the agency tough they were a
couple, even Dazai. They are not
really compatible as a team in a fight
because they can't get used by each
other's ability but both are very
smart and can think quick for a plan.
They also use their pretty appearance
as an bonus to defend enemies and
manipulate anyone to obtain what
they wanted.
MORI - one of the only mafia
members that she wasn't that
attached to, was mori even if he
took her under his wings when she
was a kid, she always felt so uneasy
around him and the way he acted
make her uncomfortable. She had
such a bad feeling about him like
she knew that he was hiding
something or he did or he will do
something bad. Right after chuuya
joined the mafia, mori sexuali
assaulted her in exchange to protect
chuuya better in missions and he
offered her to make her a mafia
member too to be closer to chuuya
so she can protect her this way and
this was suppose to be her entrance
exam.
KYOKA - After she find out that she is a
former mafia member she related so
much to her and she empathize her
so much for this. She protects her
and treat her so well knowing that
she probably hasn't ever felt love
since she was in mafia from a very
young age. She treated Kyoka like
her own little sister teaching her
things and buying things for her,
and the most important thing she
listened to her problems and even
tried to help her with everything she
could, even involving Dazai when it
was needed.
- PAST. She can't actually remember
anything from her childhood but
she know that chuuya knew more
than he is saying. All she remember
is some years before joining sheep
even if chuuya didn't approve her
to join them, because he tough that she
wasn't strong enough and he
tried to protect her because
she was the only person close
to him and his only family. After
Chuuya meet Dazai and Mori
offered him to join the mafia
her life became easier because
she was received with open
arms in the mafia, not as a
member, but as a person of interest

When she is not feeling good in someones company she starts being anxious and she is unable to keep the eye contact most of the time with anyone. When she is angry she acts just like chuuya, not being able to control herself.

dazai was sitting on the sofa, thumbing through his guide book for the nth time. he hated how dependent he felt on you; when you were gone, he really had no idea what to do, even when you were just in the other room taking a nap. nothing was able to capture his attention the way you did and he felt immensely bored.
he brightens when he hears your soft footsteps come towards him, all messy hair and heavy eyes, body swimming in one of his shirts as you yawn and rub at your eyes. he wastes no time opening his arms and letting you get comfortable in his lap.
“my sleepy girl,” he rests one hand on your thigh, the other on the back of your head as he holds you close to him. “are you still tired?”
“mhm,” he relishes the sigh you let out when he starts to detangle your hair with his fingers, your warm breaths against the exposed part of his neck were the biggest comfort he could ask for. “i sleep better with you.”
he turns his head, pressing a kiss to whatever spot on your face he can reach when you’re nuzzled against his shoulder. even with you cradled against his body, he still wanted to be closer to you. “don’t worry, belladonna. i’m here as long as you need me.”
when fyodor comes back from his mission and sees you curled in his chair, head resting on your folded arms, he indulges in the rare warmth that spreads throughout his body.
“are you awake, my dear?”
you let out a hum, lifting your head to lazily smile at him, eyes barely open. “how’d it go? you’re not hurt, are you?”
he shushes you, brushing a stray strand of hair out of your face and gently pushing your head back down onto your makeshift pillow. “of course i’m fine. go back to sleep.”
“but i missed you.”
he ignores your pout, humming a song you’ve heard him play on his cello before. he rubs your back with cold hands, the coolness of his skin seeping through the fabric of your shirt, encouraging your eyelids to fall shut once more. he lets a satisfied smile spread on his face at how your breathing evens out. it never failed to fascinate him how comfortable you were around him.
“i’ll be here when you wake up.” he wraps his cloak around your body, kissing the top of your head lightly once he’s sure you’re tucked in. “sleep well, dear.”

i place my head between my knees and think do you ever have nights like these?
You slid down the wall, placing your head between your knees, and sighed. You were tired, not physically but just tired. The nauseating feeling of dread washed over you as you looked up at your laptop on the desk in your room.
fuck You thought, looking at the time on the clock. 11:58. You had one minute to submit a three-page essay that was only halfway done.
You fucking idiot, how could you not have this done? Your grade is going to plummet, and then what? It’s this one essay and soon you’ll start skipping out on other things too, won’t you? It can’t be your fault though right? You didn’t know about it until a day before it was due…
your phone started to ring, Dazai’s name on the screen. you let out a small “Oh.”
it came out broken and cracked, the lump in your throat making it hard to let words out. Were you crying? You put your hand on your cheek, feeling the droplets of water fall down rapidly.
You didn’t feel sad, so why were you crying? You couldn’t feel anything right now.
Your phone buzzed again, a text message popping up from Dazai again.
Open the door, dummy. It’s cold outside.
You dragged yourself off the floor, still crying, and walked to the door. It took a while for you to open the door because of how shaky your hands were.
“Finally you- uh, Y/N?” he stopped his dramatics as soon as he saw you.
“Yeah?” you croaked out, looking up at him.
“Are you okay? I know I’m not the best at comforting people bu-”
“Osamu,” you cut him off and stepped toward him.
“I’m so tired,” you whispered, dropping your forehead onto his shoulder. Your whisper became a sob and that sob grew and grew and grew until you couldn’t even stand anymore.
At this point, you were sobbing loudly at his feet, barely being able to breathe as the sobs wracked your body. You saw him crouch down to your level, hooking his arms under yours in a hug. Dazai picked you up like he was picking up a cat and brought you inside your apartment. He walked to your room with you, setting you on the bed and sitting down next to you as you cried.
“you want to talk about it?”
“No,” You sobbed out, hugging the blanket to your chest.
“Okay, you need anything?” he asked, looking around. He saw your laptop open and the half-done essay on the screen. Dazai got up and closed the laptop.
“I can’t breathe,” you croaked out.
“I know, lemme get you some water."
when he came back you had stopped crying, now sitting up.
"do you ever have nights like these?” you asked when Dazai sat down.
“burnout? Yeah sometimes."
"what do you do when you burn out?"
"I couldn’t tell you. not because I don’t want you to know, but I actually don’t know either. you should get some rest, not to be mean but you look like shit right now."
you let out an undignified snort, throwing a pillow at him.
"only if you come lay with me stupid.”

Night Terrors

He loathes that her nightmares are about him.
Masterlist
“What’s wrong, love?” His voice is low and soothing, laced with sleep.
He’s a light sleeper by nature, he had no choice but to be given his career choices, so when he felt her toss and turn next to him, the bed dipping and moving, he reaches out lazily and rests a hand on her arm.
He cracks an eye open when she stills under his hold, her breath audibly hitching. Stifling a yawn, he slowly props himself up on his arm and looks over.
“Y/N?” He frowns, watching her take a deep breath and open her eyes.
All his tiredness is snapped away once he sees the tears and fear in her eyes. Shuffling closer, he quickly tugs her into his arms. She hesitates for a second, before letting out a quiet whimper and clinging to him.
He shushes her, running a hand up and down her back. “A nightmare?”
She nods against his chest, the hand wound around the back of his shirt tightening, clutching the fabric tighter. She clings to him like he’ll slip out of her hands like sand if she lets go.
Humming, he places soft kisses against her head. “What’s troubling you?” He can feel her trembling against him and he loathes to see her like this. He blinks in surprise when she shakes her head, feeling it rather than seeing.
“You’ll feel better, my love.” He prompts, running his other hand gently through her hair. There’s a few moments of silence, which Dazai allows to float around, before she mumbles something, muffled against him.
“Pardon?”
“You.” It’s clearer the second time. It takes him aback. Him? “You were gone…”
“Truly a nightmare.” He agrees, recovering. “But I’d be an idiot to leave you-”
“No-” she cuts him off, her voice becoming a little louder, contracting the way she curls into herself more. Pausing for a second to listen to his heartbeat, steady and present under her ear, she speaks.
“…you died. You were gone.” She says again.
The silence isn’t uncomfortable, but it has a sense of understanding to it. Dazai takes a second to sort thorough his thoughts.
That was…unexpected. He hadn’t done anything too drastic since he started dating her. She made him happy, provided him with a light to follow, however small it may be at times. He can’t bring himself to reassure her that he’ll always be here.
He can’t say for sure that her dream won’t come true. The worst thing is…
She knows it too.
This wasn’t a monster under the bed or some unrealistic, fantasy scenario that wasn’t possible. He hates that he can’t ease her worries completely. At the end of the day…Dazai’s…Dazai.
“I see. Well, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.” He pulls away a little, meeting her teary gaze. “Who’s going to protect you if I’m gone? I can’t let Kunikida snatch you away from me so easily!” It doesn’t elicit a laugh, but a small quirk to the side of her mouth. He counts it as a win.
“I’d hope not.” her voice is scratchy and still a little wobbly. He was right, she does feel a little better now that she’s told him, though.
They lay there together, Dazai occasionally humming something under his breath. He lets her listen to his heartbeat, reassure herself that he’s here and alive and well. Once he feels her breathing even out, he kisses her forehead, pulling the blankets tighter around themselves.
He holds her close, tucking her head under his chin.
He’d continue trying for her.

↳ AUTHOR'S NOTES: i haven't been feeling well so i needed to release my emotions through writing, and i wanted some dazai comfort. so this came out in the process. i challenged myself to use apple pie and ghosts in one fic for an autumn-themed fic, and i hope you guys like it. :)

You were never the biggest fan of autumn or the idea of fall in general. The air always seemed too chilly whenever you tried to enjoy an afternoon stroll in the park. As the days became shorter, nights seemed to drag on for hours which left you alone with your thoughts in your empty apartment. Sleep deprivation followed you every morning to the point where your eyelids fluttered closed constantly. Even your favorite pumpkin spice latte that you ordered every day at 8:00 AM started to lose its appeal.
That is, until a certain bandaged man invited you downtown to help out at the Armed Detective Agency.
The usual stack of paperwork on your desk seemed to pile even higher by the minute, and the three hours of sleep you had gotten last night made your attention span worse. Unaware of your surroundings, you didn’t notice the sound of footsteps coming from behind you getting louder as they got closer. Soft lips lightly pecked your forehead causing you to cock your head to the side and gaze into the hazel eyes of your lover.
“Let’s ditch this place for a while, love.” The gentle tone of Dazai’s voice was almost enough to make you fall asleep right then and there. He nuzzled his face into your neck as you felt the warm embrace of his bandaged arms around your chest. You were tempted to accept his offer knowing well enough that going outside would refresh your body and at least give you a jolt of energy. However, you knew that you would only beat yourself up if any work was left unfinished.
“Sorry Osamu, I can’t. I have to finish up these reports for Kuni-”
“You don’t have to, Y/N,” Dazai replied as he cut you off before you could finish. Being someone who procrastinated on the daily and was met with harsh complaints from his partner, he couldn’t help but attempt to persuade you to take a break. “Besides, a couple minutes away from all those boring files won’t hurt.”
“Pssh, that’s easy for you to say.” At least Dazai didn’t have to sit around the office all day since he was constantly out and about the streets of Yokohama. Now that you thought about it, your co-workers spent more of their time actively outside of the agency than inside with the exception of Naomi and Haruno. There were times that you became jealous of your boyfriend’s flexible schedule while you barely joined in on the action due to your lack of experience with physical conflicts. All you wished for was one day off the same monotonous workload. One day to properly spend some quality time with your partner.
“Fine, if you insist. I guess I’ll just let the others know you can’t come down for some coffee today-”
“Wait, they’re…all taking the day off?” You didn’t expect to hear that come out of his mouth. Everyone seemed so dedicated and diligent while on the job (okay, maybe that was just Kunikida, but still). To hear that for once, everyone was free to just relax and take a break from all the stress of keeping the peace in Yokohama was hard to believe. It felt like a giant weight was lifted off your shoulders temporarily as your mind wandered through numerous possibilities of how the day could go. Ranpo could take you down to that sweets shop he’d been wanting to take a look at. Or maybe you and Atsushi could play with the stray kittens outside of the cafe that loved to be pet behind their ears. Although, you would prefer to spend the majority of your time with Dazai. Whether it was enjoying a nice dinner at the downtown restaurant or dragging your boyfriend away from the Tsurumi River, no one else could brighten your days as much as he did.
“So…is that a yes, my belladonna?” Dazai disrupted your train of thought, leaving you staring blankly at him holding your chin up with his left hand while his other arm was still wrapped around you. Damn, how could you possibly say no to this opportunity?
“I guess one cup wouldn’t hurt.”

As you walked into the brand-new coffee shop with your fingers intertwined with Dazai’s, the smell of baked pastries and freshly brewed drinks traveled through the air. Coffee mugs could be heard clinking against each other as a waitress collected the half-empty cups from a group of occupied businessmen. It brought back faint memories of the dull cafe you frequently visited before it shut down, but the atmosphere felt different. You couldn’t tell if it was because it was closer to your office or because you had the company of the Armed Detective Agency, but being inside the establishment made your heart swell up with joy.
“Why aren’t we joining Atsushi and the others?” You were confused as to why Dazai was leading you away from your fellow co-workers to a fancy little booth close to one of the front windows in the store. Wasn’t the whole point of leaving the office was to spend time with the detectives? Unless…no, surely he hadn’t planned this from the beginning…
“Well, we haven’t properly had our first date, right my love?”
So he did set it all up. His smooth and slick nature was flawless just like when he first dragged you down to the agency. Sure, there was no room to complain since that ended up transforming your life for the better by introducing you to people who accepted you and made you less lonely. Even so, he could have been a little more direct with it, you chuckled to yourself silently.
“So darling, what do you want to get?” Dazai inquired as he allowed you to get situated at the booth so he could place in an order.
“Just a small pumpkin spice latte will be fine.”
“Oh? I thought you didn’t enjoy them anymore. Don’t tell me you’re trying to torture yourself, Y/N.”
“Very funny, Osamu. It doesn’t hurt to try again, right?”
Dazai always thought of your adventurous nature as a nature, yet it was one of the star qualities of your personality that attracted him to you in the first place. You never shied away from a new experience because you believed that it allowed you to enjoy life to the fullest. Dazai envied you a little. How could you live life so freely and with purpose in such a broken world? That may be something that would remain an enigma to his mysterious self. You were reckless and adamant about being involved in the agency, even if you couldn’t be involved in some of the dangerous adventures you wished to go on. He promised to let you tag along while he was working on a job involving the Port Mafia. One day he would, but not yet.
As Dazai came back with your pumpkin spice latte and his order of a decently sized cup of café au lait, you couldn’t help but notice the name written in bold black letters on your cup. Belladonna. You could feel a slight warmth rise to your cheeks as your face would soon be covered with a faint blush. His displays of public affection never failed to charm you and leave you absolutely mesmerized. You heard the bell on the front door ring as a new customer walked into the coffee shop, bringing in a cool breeze of wind. You started to shiver and bring your hands to your arms, rubbing them up and down constantly hoping to bring some form of warmth. However, you didn’t have to struggle for long as Dazai draped his sandy trench coat over your exposed shoulders.
“Wear this, love. You’ll feel much better with this on.”
“Thanks, Osamu. But actually….” You spoke while slowly removing the trench coat, laying it flat across your arms, and neatly folding it in front of Dazai. His mouth was slightly opened in surprise of what he was witnessing since he knew of your sensitivity to the cold.
“…I think the breeze feels just fine today.”
Autumn was never your favorite season and it never will be. The cool temperature of the wind will annoy you here and there. But having the love of your boyfriend and the affection of your friends made your heart and mind feel warmer. The pumpkin spice latte definitely helped too.
