So I have been getting the itch to draw, I havent drawn in year ( probably 10 years now or so)

so one of the members of the acnl discord server i drew

How did you make a sign with your town map on? Can you make a picture tutorial?

ooo, that was so long ago but i’ll try and explain it step by step for you!first you need to take a screenshot of your town map through miiverse — talk to isabelle and tell her you want to tear down a pwp and she’ll show you the map!after you’ve uploaded it on miiverse and saved it to your computer you should crop it in your preferred photo editing program — make sure it’s evenly squared too.it’ll look something like this..

now you go to this site http://www.thulinma.com/acnl/ and convert the image you got and choose the option with 40 colors!you’ll have something like this which you’ll use as your outline.

now comes the tedious part — cleaning it up. you can either do touch-ups on the site itself like i did or just go right ahead and create a design in-game and do it as u go. it’s good to look back at your map now and then to make sure everything is where it is.here’s what my map looked like afterwards… 

it might look super odd but it will look fine once you’ve copied it into your DS and put it on the sign. hope this was clear enough, i might have missed something so if you have any questions, feel free to ask! good luck!

Restart! Welcome to Cantata

So I just as I was getting my old town where i wanted things etc. And I felt that I had the over whelming sensation that i needed a restart. I wasnt happy with my nice little town. and oh god those rocks! every time, they were in my way. I started to feel stagnate.

So I restarted.

Overall:

So my thinking for this new town was, I wanted a Snow white  feeling to it. I love the over all feeling of an enchanted forest, nature paths. And what better to fit that than Snow white.

Of coarse a theme like this would need Apples as a native fruit.

This was a chore in itself. The LONG dialog of having to sell my town. and then recreate it. and recreate a character. But after 6 frustrating tries. I was able to get my perfect town!

Not only does it have Apples as its native fruit. It is actually a fairly large space as well! I love every frustrating bit of it.

Town Name: Originally i wanted ‘Enchanted Forest’ to be the name of it. Well, that didnt go as planned, To many characters. Even Enchanted didn’t work. So I opened up the good ole google translation. And plugged in a few words.

Cantata is the latin word for enchanted. Which is the perfect about of characters, So it worked out so beautifully.

Future Plans:

So with this town, it is going to be the first time I actually use all open spaces for characters.

1. Main account

2. Snow white ( modern take on her)

3.Prince ( modern take on him)

4. Witch ( I have seen some amazing witch characters out there that will probably be a huge inspiration for me.)

Town:

I want to create a nature based town, Log benches, etc. One part of the town near the witches house i will have a perfect fruit with some dead trees with it as well. To give it more of a witchy poison apple feeling.

Essentially I am leaning towards putting all other trees on my island, so I still have easy access to them, but it wont interfere largely with my over all feeling.

Villagers/shops:

I essentially want to keep this all in one area near the actually town to give it the feeling still being apart of the town main street.

Conclusion:

I have a lot of work ahead of me lol. I wont be putting up a dream address right away.

Personal ACNL Moment.

Over the last 15 years of my life. I have been working nothing but night shifts, These shifts can vary from 4pm- 2am. See I work in a kitchen as a line cook. This is due to being a mother. A mother of 3 kids. I work night shifts simply because child care during the day is expensive. Ridiculously expensive. Anyways, Due to working night shifts for so long. I have bad insomnia. I have tried almost everything. I am on my last set of sleeping meds before going on a waiting list for 3 years to see a sleep specialist.

Before I explain more. I love my sleep, do not get me wrong I do. However, I have also have a love hate relationship with sleep. I love dreaming. So much. However, I seem to slip to deeply into sleep when i do sleep. When this happens. My brain seems to get dreams and reality mixed up.

When I sleep. Everything is not a dream style. They are as if I am standing in reality, doing my mundane work, dealing with my children, normal conversions with everyday people. The list goes on. These dreams, do not act like dreams. There are no fly pigs. I do not have super powers ( as much as I wish I could).

These dreams are like another reality of this one to my brain. I have this map in my mind. One that consists of what this other world looks like. I can draw out the whole island that i live on. Cities, towns, homes, stores. I have another world that is as real  to me as this one we live in.

At times, I wake up with mixed emotions, having to call my own mother to find out if certain events have happened. I wake up with actual emotions left to me by this other world. Even if I do wake up from a bad event in this other world and let myself calm down. to get my realities settle down and separate then go back to sleep. It only picks up again. And I am not meaning right where it left off. it is like time is still active there. I go back into this reality moments later. or a gap later.

I have a love hate relationship with my dreams. I love how my dreams act as if it is an escape from my own reality. I love how deep it can become. I am also scared of it. I feel at times I can be taken away by them. So I also stay up to stay away from them.

Where is the silver lining of this part of my life? my silver lining is how these dreams, that reality on some level, makes me appreciate how much I do love this reality, How much I appreciate the little things.

How this is really the first time I have been able to face this without feeling completely crazy, It took me many years of support of my family to finally face the doctor and explain to him what is going on with myself.

Reading these pictures off of ACNL, reminds me of this every time I see them. I know this really isnt fully acnl stuff. And more personal. But this is part of me. These quotes are part of me as well.

ACNL, is my way of escaping my realities. This allows me to have some control of an escape,
