A part of being an adult is living with regret and not allowing it to consume you. The older you get, the more mistakes you’ve made, opportunities you’ve missed, people you’ve disappointed. And every day you have to remind yourself to be kind and forgiving of yourself. You accept and love the you from the past and understand that it’s all a part of the process. Then you move on and live your best life, knowing now as old as you feel today, you’ll never be this young again.

I made a thing! I was thinking about this for a few days - because I realized that when I was young, I was also frustrated about being given the same advice over and over - without really knowing what it meant!!

Here’s 5 techniques which I have done before which have helped me grow as an artist, which are good for 5-minute warmups or just straight up challenges for your sketchbook! 

Obviously, these are not the ONLY techniques - they’re just the ones I find most fun! And maybe they’re not the most ‘correct’ ones out there, but it’s better than another comic about practicing more, right?

Yesterday’s spiral into guidebook hell has carried over a little onto today and I’m working on this post about different interesting facts about the Jedi (assuming this book still counts, which technically it’s supposed to, but I’m REALLY skeptical) because, hey, you never know when you need another Jedi healer or pilot for fic purposes and maybe this could help. Most of it is fairly basic stuff, but then I get to Master Yarael Poof, who specializes in Jedi mind tricks and:

“Poof has a mischievous side and enjoys playing mind tricks on colleagues.” AND I’M DYING JUST PICTURING THAT. He looks so quiet and unassuming, meanwhile he’s a troll running around probably telling people “This is not the Aleenian spice cake you’re looking for.” and snatches it up for himself. Or he’s not getting his way on some small, unimportant matter that the Council is discussing.  “[waves hand–ONE OF THE SECONDARY SET UNDER HIS JEDI ROBES, so it looks like his hands are still folded over his lap, but HIS OTHER TWO ARE MOTIONING WITH THE FORCE]  You will import two Felucian akaberry plants for the Jedi Council room.” Or when the Jed are having one of their famous philosophical debates, “[waves hands under robes]  You will admit that my point about Master Rupunn-Kaal’s view on the Force guiding the growth of Alderaanian aiwhas and their mating habits is a good one.” But mostly using it to get a fifth helping of Aleenian spice cake because Master Tiin disagreed with him on a supply requisitions issue AND THEREFORE DOES NOT DESERVE HIS DESSERT.

Lol I love the idea of a Jedi using their powers for harmless fun. But it makes me wonder how successful he actually was. I mean, his colleagues are all POWERFUL FORCE USERS WHO KNOW HOW MIND TRICKS WORK, YARAEL!

All I can imagine is Poof waving his hand under his robe and going “You WILL give me the last Aleenian spice cake.” And Master Yoda just meets his eye and slowly takes the cake and eats it in small bites, then lick the crumbs from his fingers deliberately, saying, “I think not, Master Poof”

ONE OF THE FUNNIEST THINGS IS A BIT ABOUT QUERMIAN PHYSIOLOGY:

He has two brains and a second set of arms, which maybe helped him focus, one brain is busy talking to Master Yoda about how they need to order more Jedi robe fabric because A CERTAIN MASTER AND PADAWAN DUO THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE IN YOUR LINEAGE, MASTER, have been running them out lately, while the other brain (and other set of hands) are busy subtly weaving the Force around into a suggestion to Shh shh pay attention to this conversation shh shh just forget about your Aleenian spice cake. This works surprisingly well because most sentients in the galaxy don’t have two brains to give them a one-two punch (and also they’re not expecting it, because Yarael never abuses it). EITHER THAT OR THEY ALL JUST HUMOR HIM BECAUSE HE GETS SO SAD WHEN IT DOESN’T WORK, I DON’T KNOW WHICH IS FUNNIER. Because Yoda just looking him dead in the eye while eating his cake and refusing to let it slide over is EVEN FUNNIER if you imagine this giant long-necked Quermian being all ):  ):  ): when it doesn’t work and Mace tries to take Yoda aside later and say, look, we play along because it clearly means a lot to him and we can just go get another piece of cake. “My slice of cake, it was,” Yoda says, also looking Mace dead in the eye.  “Give him a challenge, it will.”

According to Wikipedia, a small town is 1,000-20,000 people. So although you are correct in stating that 35,000 people is not a small town (it is a large town), you are incorrect in thinking that you live in a town. You live in a village. You are a villager.
