And he DID see that one coming…
wow they haven’t sat next to eachother on off topic in forever; glad to see love n’ stuff antics after what feels like too long a time
It wasn’t easy being a teenager. Even less so being a short, gymnast who was openly gay in a not so nice area. But Jeremy was used to it, after all this was the life he had lived for the past eighteen years and it will get better right?
The phrase was a mantra in his head as he tried to ignore the hand of Michael, a roided, should be graduated, twenty year old who seemed to think Jeremy was his punching bag, even though being a gymnast gave him a strength he rarely showed. He only had to make it through the year and then he would graduate, seven and a half months until he wasn’t a walking punching bag to idiots anymore. I’m
“What are you gonna do squirt? Find a real man to take care of you like the little bitch you are.”
Despite knowing he shouldn’t Jeremy snaps not caring for his own safety for a moment.
“If you don’t leave me alone I’m going to fuck your dad.”
Michael’s face grows purple and he shoves Jeremy again before walking off with his group of minions, brainless roided bodies the group of them.
“Would you really?”
That’s Gavin, Jeremy’s best friend who was a foreign exchange student from England, staying with the family next door.
“I mean... have you seen his dad?”
Jeremy raises his eyebrows a smirk falling onto his face and Gavin just chuckles before wrapping an arm around the shorter boy.
“One of these days your mouth is gonna get you in trouble.”
“One of these days? As if it hasn’t already.”
“True.... now show me a picture of his dad.”
“What?”
“If he made a son that looks like that he’s got to be attractive. Stupid as hell but attractive.”
“Gavin he was a model. But now he works with computers. I think he’s hot and smart.”
Jeremy pulls up Instagram, opening it to the mans page and when Gavin sees it he nods in agreement.
“He’s your type. Tall, bearded, dad. Now again would you really fuck him just to get back to Michael?”
“I don’t know. Maybe? Or maybe just cause he’s hot and smart and he is my type.”
“Have you ever met him in person Jeremy. Also he’s obviously straight, after all he is Michael’s dad. Speaking of what about his mom?”
“I don’t think they are together because he posted on Mother’s Day and was like ‘while it wasn’t magic for us you gave me the best gift ever. Thanks for being the best mom to our son.’ And look at this picture and tell me he’s straight Gavin. Look at it.”
“Mr. Dooley!”
Hearing the voice of his math teacher he looks up and realizes that his entire class is looking at him, and he’s looking at his phone.
“Sorry.”
“What was so interesting on your phone that you just had to show Mr. Free in the middle of my class?”
“Nothing.”
“Than maybe you should put it away.”
“Yes sir.”
He puts his phone away and motions to Gavin that he’ll show him later. Math class finally ends and Jeremy pulls his phone right back out showing showing Gavin the picture he had been trying to show him before.
“Maybe he’s just a really into himself straight man.”
“I doubt it. But I’ve never met him so like will it matter honestly? I’ll just admire him from afar.”
“I vote you slide into his DMs.”
“But...”
“Jeremy I say you shoot your shot. You are amazing and confident and of the legal age of 18. So why not.”
“What if he’s not gay?”
“So? It never hurts to ask. Besides how can you tell Michael you would fuck his dad and then not even try to follow through.”
“So you’re saying if nothing else I should try because I could hold it over Michael.”
“Yes. But also like you said he is hot and hopefully smart. And if he is smart he’ll get it.”
Jeremy bites his lip before looking at his phone and clicking the paper airplane to send him a message. He debates for a second before just sending a simple hi and then puts his phone in his pocket.
“I want to die.”
“I could help with that.”
Hearing Michael’s voice Jeremy is instantly glad about his decision. He doesn’t respond instead just sending Gavin a small smirk ignoring the boy. The rest of the school day passes uneventfully and when he and Gavin walk to his car to drive home he pulls his phone out. He stops his walk at the notification that he had a message back from Michael’s dad.
“Jeremy?”
“He messaged me back.”
“WHAT DOES IT SAY!”
Gavin is too loud and multiple people stop to stare at the pair, if either was easily embarrassed they would be red, but they weren’t. Jeremy just rolls his eyes continuing their walk and once they are in his car he speaks.
“I mean I haven’t looked yet Gav. I was just shocked he actually opened my message to begin with.”
“So open it.”
Jeremy bites his lip as he stares at the notification on his phone before doing just that, opening the message. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting but the hello handsome that greeted him was a happy surprise.
“He called me handsome Gav.”
“Huh maybe he is gay after all.”
“Seriously that’s your one thought?”
“No but I think you should keep it going. But I would make sure he knows you are younger.”
“Yea... I wonder how old he is. I mean Michael’s 20.”
“Talk to him a bit more and then just mention your age and be like I hope someone as worldly as you doesn’t mind talking to me. Maybe he’ll tell you then.”
The next few weeks pass with Jeremy casually messaging Michael’s dad, Ryan he should call him he supposed. They had talked about a lot, including age, Ryan was 36 twice Jeremy’s age but that wasn’t a deterrent. And then he opens his phone one morning to a text from Ryan, they had exchanged numbers after a week.
So how about a real date tonight?
Jeremy just stares before running from his house next door and knocking on the door, knowing Gavin would be home but the others probably wouldn’t.
“Jeremy?”
Gavin was still half asleep, not surprising the boy would miss school like daily if not for Jeremy making him be on time.
“Gavin he asked me if I wanted to go on a date tonight.”
That wakes Gavin up fully and he opens the door letting Jeremy in.
“So?”
“What do I do?”
“Jeremy you’ve been chatting with him for weeks, you told me you like him a lot, and for more than just his looks. You go on a fucking date with him.”
“But.”
“But what Jeremy.”
“What if he expects something different than me?”
“I doubt it. Tell him yes, ask when and where and then let’s get you ready.”
Jeremy lets out a little breath but responds to the message.
I’d like that. Where are we going and when?
He pauses for a moment wondering if that’s the proper response when he gets a reply almost instantly.
I can’t tell you where it’s a surprise. But dress casually. And I’ll pick you up at 6.
“He says dress casually.”
“Ask how casual. Because you and I have a different idea of casual and you want to make sure.”
Knowing that what Gavin says is true he pauses before sending a new message.
How casual is casual?
He watches as he gets three dots pulled up as Ryan responds.
Maybe not a T-shirt but jeans and a nice shirt would work. Can’t wait to see you.
And now he is flushing slightly Jesus Christ how was this man doing this to him.
Can’t wait to see you either. x
The x at the end was a bit bold but he couldn’t help it he was actually stoked for his date. He heads back to his house. After all he had almost ten hours until his date and he was hungry and needed to shower and go through all his clothes. Five thirty rolls around and he’s dressed and ready to go, his parents had wondered where he was going but when he said out with a friend they just assumed it was someone from school and let it go. He was dressed in a pair of dark blue jeans cuffed at the bottom with a light blue button up and a pair of white sneakers. He’s nervous but ready, it wasn’t his first date with an older man his last boyfriend was 25 to his then 17 almost 18. He gets lost in his thoughts h til the doorbell rings and then he jumps from his seat wanting to make sure his parents don’t answer the door. When he spots Ryan standing there looking very much like the model he used to be in a black button up with a pair of jeans and sneakers his heart starts to beat a bit faster.
“Hi Jeremy.”
His voice is deeper than Jeremy had thought it would be and timber causes his body to warm.
“Hi Ryan.”
“So do I need to talk to your parents.”
“No.”
The word comes quickly as Jeremy sets outside having grabbed a jacket from behind the door as he left.
“Are you embarrassed by me?”
Ryan’s question catches Jeremy off guard for a second and then he answers truthfully.
“No I’m embarrassed by them. They aren’t the most traditional parents and I try not to scare off the men I like before we’ve had an actual date by introducing them to my parents.”
“But I will get introduced?”
“I promise. Eventually you will. Once I’m certain they won’t scare you off.”
“And it has nothing to do with me being twice your age?”
“God no. My last boyfriend was eight years older than me. They know I like older. And they don’t mind. My dad is fifteen years older than my mom.”
By now they are in Ryan’s car and driving to their date spot and Jeremy has slightly relaxed. When they pull up to a building Jeremy’s never seen before he looks at Ryan.
“I hope you like Italian. I would have picked something else but I wanted it to be somewhere you hadn’t been before and few people have been here.”
“I love Italian and I have never been here you are right.”
“Good.”
The smile that breaks across Ryan’s face makes Jeremy’s heart swell a bit. After they have ordered and are waiting Ryan asks the question Jeremy had been expecting from the moment they started talking.
“So how did you even find my Instagram?”
“Well... I go to school with Michael. And he posted something with you in it a while ago. And I saw and clicked your screen name and instantly attracted to you so I followed you. But I was like 16 at the time? And then I got a boyfriend and I kind of just would occasionally like something you posted that I liked. You posted a picture of a view with some beautiful cherry blossoms one day and I wished I could see the cherry blossoms so I liked that. And then I broke up with the boyfriend after like 5 months? And just kinda stayed single. And I turned 18 and didn’t think you were attracted to men. So I didn’t think I had a chance or anything. But then I mentioned you to my best friend and he told me I should at least try. So I said hi and you know the rest.”
“Is it weird to you that you go to school with my son?”
“Is it weird for you? I’m not worried about it. And if I didn’t I would never have even met you so I’m kinda glad I do.”
“Me too.”
Their date continues with the pair talking about any and everything and then Ryan drives them to a small cafe.
“I don’t really like coffee but I don’t want this to end and I was hoping you would want to chat a bit longer.”
“I don’t like coffee either. Well I’ll drink it occasionally but it’s bitter so I tend not to but I absolutely want to keep chatting.”
And chat they do, for hours their conversation continues, past closing time of the cafe and into the early morning hours before Ryan makes his way back to Jeremy’s house.
“I had a great time. I’d really like to do this again.”
“Me too.”
Jeremy bites his lip as his eyes meet Ryan’s. They were parked out front of Jeremy’s house and Ryan pauses for a second before leaning across the center console and placing a kiss to the younger mans lips.
“So after I meet your parents I’ll take you to see the cherry blossoms.”
“After?”
“Well I figure if we are going to go to Japan together I should at least try and reassure them I’m not going to kill you there.”
“Japan?!”
“While Washington D.C. has beautiful cherry blossoms, that’s where that picture was from, Japan’s are even better. But don’t worry they don’t bloom til the new year so we have a few months.”
“But I have school.”
“Spring break is in March right?”
“Yea.”
“We can go then. But I’ve got to meet your parents first. They will be beautiful then and look amazing with your handsomeness.”
“March is a while away.”
“All the more time to get to know you better.”
Five months to be exact, and he doesn’t see how Ryan could put up with him for five months, his last boyfriend hadn’t ending it stating that Jeremy was too needy, too annoying, and too young.
October passes with little event, they went out on three more dates before Ryan had looked at Jeremy and told him he was so glad they were boyfriends. Jeremy had been wondering about their relationship but hadn’t wanted to bring it up so hearing that made his heart soar. And the following dates always lasted for hours, with the pair cuddling and kissing and just happy to be together.
November starts with Jeremy’s parents asking about his new boyfriend and if he’s like to come to Thanksgiving dinner. Jeremy asks Ryan but unfortunately the older man is unable to come, he had promised his own parents he would go home since Michael was with his mom for the holiday this year. They make plans to meet up for dinner before hand though and by some grace of god Jeremy’s parents don’t completely ruin his life. Ryan actually like them, and they like him as well. Their dates slowly end with Jeremy staying the night at Ryan’s usually nothing more than cuddling and sleeping going on because they both agree they want to take it slow.
December is full of dates, kisses and cuddles. Jeremy panics for a full week over what to get Ryan for his birthday and then Christmas which is right after. Ryan had bought Jeremy and himself tickets to Japan after that first date but still picked out a bunch of random little things along the way which he saw and instantly thought of Jeremy. Ryan invited Jeremy over on Christmas Eve because he knew the younger was spending the holiday with family, aunts and uncles came into town with their family, and introduced Jeremy to Michael as his boyfriend. Michael looks shocked for a moment before nodding his head. And despite the fact that Michael is rude to him every time they see each other at school their conversation is polite and Jeremy is glad he had picked up a gift for Michael when he was out as well.
January starts with an Instagram post. Three months after they started dating officially they both post the same picture, sharing a kiss as the new year is rung in, with identical captions as well. I’m so excited to start this year with you. The first week of January is spent exploring a new stage in their relationship. Jeremy started staying over nightly, and there was less sleep than there had been before. It had never felt as right before and Jeremy was glad they had waited, glad it was Ryan. He didn’t want to think that he loved the man but he knew already that he did. Michael started coming around to him as well, there were less incidents at school, in fact he could count on one hand all of them for the first time in years, opposed to the once a day attacks from before.
The first day of school in February starts a lot like his old days had, with Michael shoving him into a locker, but this time they are alone in the hall it was before hours.
“You aren’t just fucking with my dad to get back at me right?”
Jeremy sees the look in Michael’s eyes and knows he’s just being protective of his dad because he loves him.
“No Michael. I know I said I would fuck him to get back at you but honestly I wouldn’t have. I like him, a lot. He’s the first guy who hasn’t made me feel like I’m not worthy of affection and he makes me really happy.”
“He is too. I just... his last boyfriend was an asshole and really hurt him.”
“I know what that’s like and that’s the last thing I want to do. I... I haven’t told him so I don’t know why I’m telling you. But I love him. He’s my heart and my soul and I’d probably be really lost without him.”
“Okay...”
“I know we don’t really get along Michael, though it’s been better since you found out about us but no matter how I feel about you I wouldn’t fuck with someone else to get back at you. And we are better or I like to think we are.”
“He deserves to be happy.”
“And I want to help make him happy for as long as I can.”
Michael nods his head before moving away from Jeremy and then speaking again.
“So what are you getting him for Valentine’s Day?”
“I have no idea. Well I have an idea but I don’t know if he’ll think it’s as cool or useful as I do.”
“Need some help?”
Jeremy pauses before looking at Michael wide eyed.
“Really? You’d help me.”
“Yea. So what do you say?”
“That’s be great.”
And that’s how Michael almost completely got over being a dickbag to Jeremy. There was still the occasional moment when a bit of his former hatred popped out but for the most part they were fine. Valentine’s Day was a major success, Jeremy had been thrilled with his gifts from Ryan, stuff for their japan trip and a few more romantic things that they could enjoy together. And Ryan was beyond happy with the collection of custom Diet Coke bottles, that Michael helped him pick out, the luggage separators to improve space and a few little things that no one else needed to see, and of course the confession from Jeremy, tears in his eye as they eat dinner together of I love you. The words come softly and then bolder and Ryan can’t help but respond in the same. Somehow after four short months he knew he loved this man. And then there is the last minute panic and hurry to make sure they have everything for their trip in a month, between packing and buying and searching they manage to find time for dates and kisses and love galore.
March starts slow, they have two weeks before Japan and Jeremy is stressing about midterms, and has basically moved into Ryan’s house. Ryan has taken to making him dinner every night, helping him study and giving him massages when he’s super stressed. In return Jeremy helps Michael study, cooks breakfast for them all in the morning and peppers Ryan with love and affection at every turn. At the end of the second week they check their luggage one more time and get ready to be brought to the airport. Jeremy had stayed with Ryan that night, he had been fluttering between there and his own house, mainly because he missed Gavin’s bullshit and his parents own version of crazy, and when they woke up the next morning for Michael to drive them to the airport he’s jittery, texting Gavin the entire time.
I can’t believe this is real.
His words are more from a shocking bout of insecurity and Gavin sees right through them before responding.
It’s real. You deserve this and so much more. You have someone who loves you for exactly who you are and you are so blessed to love him in return. It’s something that many people hope for and you have it. Now have an amazing time in Japan with your love and tell me about it when you get home.
When they finally land in Japan, Jeremy is bouncing from the need to move, being on the plane so long was killing him.
“Calm down love.”
“I am calm. I’m just glad to not be on the plane anymore and I’m excited to spend the next week exploring with you.”
Ryan places a kiss to Jeremy’s forehead as they wait for their luggage. And they do spend that week exploring, though Ryan makes sure they visit the cherry blossoms every day. On their last day in Japan during their last visit to the cherry blossoms Jeremy looks around him, he could never have imagined anything better than this. He turns to say something to Ryan and his hands fly to his mouth spotting the man down on one knee.
“I know it’s only been a few months, and I know you are still young. But I was hoping you would be willing to make me even happier than I am now, happier than I thought was possible and marry me?”
“Really?”
His question is silent as he stares directly into Ryan’s eyes and he sees the love and sincerity in them.
“Absolutely.”
Before Ryan can say anything else Jeremy has answered his own question, he knew he loved Ryan, knew Ryan loved him, knew this moment was perfect. He leans down kissing Ryan with all his mite, tears streaming down his cheeks.
“I’m so in love with you.”
“And I with you.”
“You did good Ry.”
Hearing the female voice Jeremy turns confused and then he sees a short blonde woman smiling at him with Michael behind her.
“Um...”
“I know this is unconventional but I wanted Michael to be here. He is my son after all. And he told me when I asked that he thought we would be great together so he gave me his blessing to propose. I asked your parents but they said they would celebrate with us when we got home.”
“I think the um was more about mom, dad than me being here. Jeremy this is my mom, mom this is Jeremy.”
“Hi hun. I’m sorry I know it’s your moment and all but I figured you guys might want some pictures, and Michael took a video as well. I’m just glad that Ryan has someone to love him like you do.”
“It’s so nice to meet you. Thank you for the pictures and video, Michael. I’m lucky that in marrying Ryan I get you both as part of my family.”
They talk for a few minutes before Michael and his mom leave the newly engaged couple alone. Jeremy just smiles at Ryan nonstop and then his phone goes off with a message, he’s been tagged in a post by Michael. He opens his phone to Instagram and spots one of the pictures they had taken moments before. I’m glad you love my dad as much as he loves you. It features Ryan kissing Jeremy’s cheek as Jeremy smiles widely and has an arm wrapped around Michael.
“You know he’s a pain in the ass sometimes but I really am glad he’s your kid cause I wouldn’t know you otherwise.”
“You are preaching to the choir.”
Jeremy and Ryan both post pictures then, Jeremy posting one of the four of them, and Ryan posting one of everyone but himself, they share the same caption though a single word, Family. They hold off posting about their engagement until they are back in the states, mainly because Jeremy wanted to tell his parents and Gavin in person, even though his parents knew. Cuddled in bed with Ryan one day after they’ve been home for a few weeks Jeremy thinks back to that faithful day when he repeated his mantra of it gets better and a smile breaks onto his face. Because it was true and he was so grateful for that, because every day, every moment, every second with Ryan it really gets better.
I don’t ship Jeremwood but I saw a story about how a guy fucked his high school bully’s dad for revenge and now I’m writing Jeremwood loosely based on it.
Scene:
Ryan decked out as the Vagabond hopping out of the car and doing horrible #daddances while singing “Rimmy do you love me…” to an embarrassed Jeremy who is sitting in the passenger seat. It’s easily one of the weirdest chases the LSPD has ever seen.
They work as a team, for whichever government was willing to hire them that day, saving hostages, stopping bombs and killing terrorists.
Gavin is a British sniper, they usually kept him miles away for fear of the man getting shot again. If it was ever their job to protect something, or someone which was rare he procured a turret, causing more injury to his team than to others. Which lead to the team insinuating a rule, every friendly bullet cost a grand, no matter who shot it. And none of the others questioned the fact that the Brit occasionally let out a spattering of Russian curses usually when a snipe goes wrong.
Geoff will tell you he is pure American, though the team noticed that he understood Gavin’s Russian, occasionally breaking out in his own. The man was surprisingly efficient with explosives, usually grenades, though he had been known to fuck up on occasion. When they needed to protect an objective he is fond of modified bear traps, getting great joy out of taking an enemy down and then killing them with no mercy.
Jack is a former Navy Seal, one of the first women to be allowed to even try the program, the first to complete it. She is an expert with a rifle, using a shield to protect her face from enemy fire. She is strong as fuck, able to carry hostages one handed and carried a multitude of camera used to spot the enemies when they came for whatever the team protected. She might be the only girl actively on the team but she was really just one of the boys.
Jeremy claims to be an Irish scientist, but the others can’t help but notice the somewhat French accent his voice carries. He makes his own gadgets, a drone with a taser like shock and a poisonous gas grenade. While he likes to use the drone for attacking people he tries not to use them when defending because the enemies destroy them too much, instead electing to use his poison gas effectively. He is built more like a tank than the others, meaning he gets shot more than they all like.
Ryan is an American, though his words too came out French sounding sometimes. The others like to tease him that it is because of his time modeling in France, though they know he also spent that time actively in university. He is accompanied by two devices that Jeremy helped him develop fully, a drone that detected movement and a special poison mine that he uses in defense, having only gotten his own team hurt because of them once or twice.
Michael is Italian with a temper to math, though he doesn’t speak the language. He is proficient with his shotgun, though maybe a bit trigger happy, shooting dead bodies for the fun of it. But even he knows that crazy has a limit and when they are trying to protect whatever they are hired for he carries extra armor with him for the team. He could be heard screaming over their coms about people not grabbing the armor and how if they died it was their own god damn fault.
Trevor is a tech geek straight from the south, though he would occasionally speak a mixture of what Jack deciphers as a mix of Japanese and Korean. He somehow always manages to get phone numbers of people they are going after and has the ability to hack their cameras in under five seconds. Also carrying a drone with a camera and a disorientation “juice” though Jeremy would refer to it as an ultra sonic burst. He is the newest member of the team but they are glad to have him.
Alfredo is the unexpected and under appreciated somewhat leader of the team, no one was really sure where he was from but they were happy to have him. He always has a specialist breaching gun, that he uses to kill more people than to actually breach. And carries concussion mines when they are hired to defend situations, occasionally hurting his own team with them. He possesses the ability to take over for any of the others on the team if needed, somehow able to fill everyone’s shoes.
Lindsay is the last member of the team, though not a full member. She’s their liaison to their boss of the day, the one who communicates when they can’t and also the doctor who nurses them back to help when needed. She only joins because she is worried about Michael, and after getting to know the others them as well. The first time Gavin shoots one of the others after she joins she worries for them both, Jeremy who he shot and Gavin himself who was sick with guilt.
Fake AH Crew AU where they all met at a arts high school and put their skills to use after graduation.
Geoff wasn’t really into the arts, he loved to read and enjoyed the arts in his own way. But really he just wanted a school that didn’t make him feel dumb for not caring about the “normal subjects.” He liked being able to pick up a camera, to write an article, to just enjoy life in its many forms. He got a job after school working at the local paper, taking pictures for the most part but also doing the occasional article when the need struck. He was somehow always the first member of the journalist community always on scene after the Fake AH Crew hit, probably had something to do with the fact that he was in the crew.
Ryan was an actor, through and through. He could change everything about himself, aside from his face which got him more dates than roles it seemed. He loved the theatrics of it all, honestly playing the vagabond was just another roll, one he cherished. He worked at their high school as a drama teacher, something the others couldn’t understand because who would subject themselves to more schooling but Ryan took it in stride after all he could fake anything, and the mask hid him well.
Jack was a behind the scenes worker, learning how to control the audio for all the school events. The calm soothing voice that announced the actors at the end of show came from the tech. Being a radio show host after high school seemed obvious, he was good at it after all and the fact that his voice wasn’t something they often heard after all the man was usually the get away driver. He enjoyed tinkering with new devices to allow them to communicate on jobs.
Michael was a voice actor for the most part, though he had the occasional face role as well. He would never be playing someone his own age, his inability to grow facial hair and his baby face meant he always looked young. He worked for a studio in the city, providing voices to some of the cities favorite characters. The voices that found a home in their head seemed to make him perfect for the crew, make him the perfect amount of crazy for the heists.
Gavin was the next Spielberg, or at least he liked to claim. He was never without a camera in hand and made more than one video about the crew in high school. Now his movies made millions and he flashed his wealth always. He was the trigger happy, slightly chaotic mess of the crew, it wasn’t really a heist if the man wasn’t shot, or if he didn’t somehow shoot one of the others. But he was always equipped, a camera hidden in all of his heist outfits so he can continue to make videos of the crew. He already submitted one to Sundance, because why not.
Lindsay was a writer and voice actress for one of the most popular online video series. She wanted to be an actress when she was younger but having scarred her face multiple times wasn’t really about to. She was the face of the crew, the one the other crews all saw because everyone else was recognize able, her face never really shown. She sometimes used situations that the crew found themselves in, in real life and in their heists, as her inspiration.
Jeremy was a bit of an artistic genius, he wrote along with making art and music. He wrote books, produced music and occasionally did art on the side. His designs were often what they based their heist outfits on, though they would veto his color choices because Purple and Orange together was not as charming as he though. He helped Gavin with the films he made about the crew, providing backing music under a false name.
The Fake AH Crew knew Ryan for over a year because they actually looked into the mans eyes, before they saw the face behind the mask. They thought the man was just anti social, until Ryan told them the truth, and what he saw in them.
Ray was the first to see him, on the way back from a heist, bleeding out in the back of the chopper with Ryan trying to doctor him up. He had stripped the mask from Ray’s face and after a moment followed with his own. His eyes met the younger mans and he paled looking into them. The time he saw ticking down in Ray’s eyes didn’t hold what most peoples did; years, months days, hours, minutes and seconds, instead it was only showing seconds, already on 26. Ryan struggled, trying to do everything he could for Ray as he watched the number go lower and lower until it read 0, Ray’s body going limp in his arms and Ryan screaming at Jack that he was gone.
Jack saw the man next, because he had been in the helicopter as well and had looked back hearing Ryan’s scream. Ryan was thankful that when he saw the number in Jack’s eyes it was still a healthy amount. In fact the numbers of thirty two years, five months, seventeen days, six hours, five minutes and thirty eight seconds. He smiles to himself before realizing that Jack wasn’t really watching the air anymore and curses telling the man to keep his eyes on the air before there were more deaths to deal with. He knew he wouldn’t be around to see Jack’s demise but he hoped the man died peacefully.
Gavin saw him third, he was scrubbing the paint off his face, trying to clear his brain when he heard the door open and knew it was the Brit. He finishes cleaning the paint off before turning to look at the tan man. It’s not surprising to him that the Brit, while reckless, still had quite a few years to live, twenty eight years, nine months, six days, fifteen hours, thirty seven minutes and six seconds to be exact. He sees the confusion, anger and sadness all mixed on the others face and struggles, while the lads had a bit of a strained relationship he knew that Gavin really liked the other man. Ryan closed his eyes for a second before turning back to the mirror, unable to answer the questioning look the other man gave.
Michael was waiting for him outside the bathroom, just sending a look to Gavin who slipped out behind him before nodding to Ryan, leading the way to the range. He knew that Michael was taking out his feeling by shooting the gun and he didn’t mind. He sat listening to the other man shoot, until his tears become so obvious that he can’t shoot straight anymore and then Ryan turns him, looking him directly in the eyes and paling instantly. Michael had one of the shortest times left he had seen in the recent years, three years, six months, two days, twelve minutes and fifty nine seconds. It was usually something he only saw on terminally ill people, people who die in accidents, or the unfortunate victims of their crew. His heart hurts knowing that soon again he will be going through this with the crew, and knowing that because it’s Michael it will probably be a blaze of glory.
Lindsay is in the kitchen when he comes up, cradling a cup of what looks like tea, and Ryan silently sits next to her grabbing a can of soda from the fridge. They sit in silence for a long time before Lindsay speaks, turning to look at Ryan as she asks about Rays last moments. His eyes meet hers and a breathe he didn’t know he had been holding is released as he answers her question seeing the numbers in her eyes. Lindsay was apparently going to live a long life without her husband, forty six years, nine months, seven hours, twenty two minutes and seventeen seconds. He was thrilled the woman was going to have such a long and happy life but devastated that she would loose her love so early. As Ryan finishes the tale of Rays last moments Lindsay nods, just wrapping an arm around Ryan and trying to disguise her tears.
The B-Team all came together, Jeremy joining them because he had been in the med bay having been hurt before the heist, and Ryan is struck with everyone at once. Trevor and Alfredo had almost identical times, twenty five years, fifteen days, nine hours, twelve minutes and twenty one and twenty two seconds respectively, letting Ryan know they were either going to be together or had some miraculous power that meant if one died so did the other. Steffie had another fifty years, one month, three days, six hours, five minutes and four seconds to live, which meant she would be an old lady when she died something Ryan was happy about. Matt stuck out with ten years, ten months, ten days, eleven hours, fifteen minutes and forty-five seconds, Ryan knew the man would die young, hoping it was doing something he loved. Andy, Neal, Kent, Ashley and Larry were all spread around the next twenty to thirty years, with Larry being the last to go and Andy being the first, he knows they will be old, at least by crew standards then and hopes they have good lives. Jeremy had a number surprisingly high considering the man was shot almost weekly, sometimes on missions but also occasionally by a stray Gavin bullet, at forty one years, eleven months, nineteen days, five hours, twelve minutes and six seconds he apparently was going to be the last of the main six, a thought that pleased Ryan.
Geoff looked tired when Ryan finally saw him almost an hour later, his head in his hands an unopened bottle sitting next to him. Ryan grabs the bottle looking at it and Geoff’s eyes lift looking into Ryan’s. Twenty three years, nine months, five days, two hours, seventeen minutes and four seconds as a long time for a man who probably had a liver disease from his previous drinking, but Ryan didn’t think about that, the man had been sober for well over a year after all. He was happy that the boss was going to have as many years ahead of him as he was, the look on his face apparently not an indication of his lifeforce. The pair sit in silence drinking sodas for hours, until Geoff’s sleeping on his desk and Ryan can’t stand it anymore.
Ryan’s eyes look back at him in the mirror as he tracks the numbers scrolling in his eyes. He hadn’t known at first that everyone didn’t see the numbers that were always present, hadn’t known what it meant either until he watched his father’s numbers tick to zero as the man passed. After that he found that he didn’t like looking people in the eyes, didn’t know knowing the truth behind the numbers. For some reason Ryan could see the numbers in their eyes and it wasn’t a gift he wanted. But every time he looked in the mirror there was a reminder, the numbers he saw were for his own destruction, and as the numbers changed so did he. He knew that he had twenty years, six months, sixteen days, nineteen hours, ten minutes and twelve, no eleven seconds left to live, and he planned to live it how he pleased. Knowing that he had death in his eyes.
Fake AH Crew AU where they are all just roommates who will occasionally hang out to play video games and make meals at first.
Michael and Gavin are the first to figure out they can get what they want without all the regular bullshit. The idea comes to them at eleven thirty at night as they waited in line for a game to release, realizing that the store made a ton of money from midnight releases and knowing that sometimes they couldn’t get the game even after waiting in the queue. They figured that if they robbed a store they could easily get games for free and a little extra bunce in their pockets.
Ryan was the next they invited along with them, mainly because he happened to be on a grocery run with the lads, when they saw a new game system they wanted was being delivered and decided that second to get it. He was a bit reluctant but after realizing he could use the money for more snacks or knives he was in. And soon he was carrying a slightly terrifying mask with him everywhere he went.
Jeremy was eager to get all the games the other boys had, he didn’t understand how the lads who worked the most unstable and least frequent jobs could afford the newest everything. He found out when Gavin came home being carried by a masked Ryan, bleeding profusely from a gunshot wound to his side. After that he was there for every job, more than ready to take on the world and get himself what he wanted.
Trevor and Alfredo were brought into the little crew because Alfredo had the weapon skills and Trevor was a surprisingly good actor to plant in stores when needed. They often traded out their planted witness though Trevor was a favorite who they had to stop from always being there to not be suspicious, but Alfredo was almost always on the assault team a strong silent type that didn’t calm cops minds. Alfredo was happy to work for video games and better systems while Trevor was using his share to pay off student loans for a degree he wasn’t using.
Geoff found out because he just so happened to be at a store one day when it was robbed. When he arrived back to their shared house he was confused as to how they had all got the newest x-box system early, they weren’t officially on sale for a few days. Upon realizing what the truth was he had agreed not to rat them out as long as they got him games and systems even though he never went along with them on their heists.
Lindsay was a somewhat shocking addition to their perfectly planned heists, she was chaotic and crazy and more often than not helped something go wrong. She had been a witness a few times but after the third time when she told cops that one of the robbers was an attractive woman, even though every actual witness said there hadn’t been any women in the group, her voice raised into an unnaturally high pitched sound they took her off that. Deciding instead to give the girl a slightly more behind the scenes job, though she sometimes found her way to the front lines.
Jack was the last to join them all, he started to notice that they were eating better and when their clothes got fucked they would just buy new ones, opposed to before when they lived off cup o noodles and would wear clothes until they couldn’t wear them anymore. But the real clue was when he caught Lindsay helping Ryan and Jeremy trying to patch up Michael and Gavin’s wounds from a job gone very wrong. He had helped fix them up, scowling them the entire time because apparently they had tried to escape on a fucking motorcycle, before telling them in the future they could just ask him for a ride, he’d do it because it meant his little family was safer, and they could all eat better from their profits.
They came up with the name Fake AH Crew because they weren’t a real crew, not really at least. They were just a group of underpaid, under appreciated, and overworked men (and one woman!) who wanted the finer things in life. Stealing the occasional game that they could later sell, getting just enough money to be able to afford to eat five decent meals a week. Family dinner was the best thing that could have come out of their adventures, a new staple in their life.
Fake AH Crew AU where Gavin had left home at sixteen, his parents had divorced and remarried and he didn’t get along with either side of his family. He traveled the world, finally ending up in Los Santos where he works as a hacker and a part time hit man.
Geoff hired the man known only as Kraken to hack an enemy crew. When six hours later he was sent all the information he requested and more he is pleased, making a note to hire the man again. Soon it’s a regular deal, hiring the man to hack and occasionally pull off a hit that one of the crew can’t, mainly because of their busy schedules. After six months he calls the man offering to hire him full time, something he had been thinking about but hadn’t put into fruition until then, not even running it by the crew. When Kraken shows up at the crews penthouse he’s shocked, the man is tall, slim and tan, face hidden behind a pair of giant sunglasses and wearing a helmet. Geoff wonders if this is the real Kraken, he had heard the man speak before over the phone but never seen him so he could only hope, putting the man up in a room with a series of computers.
Jack is the first to warm up to the new man. None of them had been thrilled when Geoff invited someone to join the crew without asking them but they trusted the boss, well for the most part. Kraken didn’t speak much, at least not at first instead preferring to send texts, emails or IMs if he had information for them, mostly keeping to himself in his room. It had taken days for Jack to realize he hadn’t seen the man leave his room almost since he arrived and he went to check on the man. Kraken was on his computer, a pile of cups of tea, coffee and energy drink cans surrounding him but no signs of food. He decided then that he had to make sure the man was taken care of, dropping off three meals a day until he started to leave his room, then only the occasional meal when he was working on a mission.
Michael didn’t understand why Geoff thought they needed a new crew member. He took in Kraken a twig like man who never seemed to speak and was instantly annoyed. It was only after Kraken had sent him a text asking if he wanted to play some games, followed up by an apology because he had meant to send it to someone else, that Michael started to like the man a bit more. He started to draw the quiet man out of his shell a bit more and would occasionally get the man laughing a hearty laugh that brought a smile to the entire crew. He was also the first one to bitch about the new guy when he fucked up a mission or beat him at their latest gaming endeavor, it didn’t take him long though to realize his anger caused the man to retreat again for days at a time.
Jeremy was just glad to not be the new guy anymore, admittedly he didn’t understand what exactly they needed Kraken for but still. He tried to like the man really he did, after all he had once been the new guy but it was hard to like him. Jeremy wasn’t sure what the exact problem was with Kraken but he knew that every time he made his way to the hackers room he was mad. After all the man had a mini fridge with a tv screen and a garbage can that took batteries. Who needs that kind of stuff? He mellows a bit though after playing games with Michael and Kraken, and finding out that the latter stocked his mini fridge with not only energy drinks but also liquor. Soon they were playing video games between missions, nursing drinks, taking care of their wounds and just enjoying the silence.
Ryan was the last to get used to the newest member of the group. For almost four months after Kraken moved in he wore his mask everywhere, even in the penthouse, his obvious distaste for the man hidden on his face. Kraken didn’t mind having heard the others voice on the third day, or maybe the fourth or fifth, and recognizing it. He stayed silent a lot around the penthouse until he saw the other coming out of his cage. It’s really only when he hears Kraken tell Jack that ‘I’m a fucking delight’ that he cracks, letting out a snort that causes they both to turn to him. It’s a week later that Ryan finally takes off his mask, Kraken had gotten shot on a mission and when Ryan gets them back to the safe house he takes his mask off muttering about how Gavin better not fucking die, that the others start to question everything they know.
Gavin left home at sixteen because he didn’t get along with either side of his family. His fathers new wife had an older son who seemed to take pleasure in being nice one second to him and then torturing him the next. When Geoff contacted him almost a full year ahead of time to do the first hack job he was happy to get by, and when Geoff asked him to join the crew he was thrilled ready to settle in. On his fourth day there hearing the familiar voice of his step brother though he froze, hoping the older wouldn’t recognize him, sticking with his code name never telling them his real name. He hates getting paired with Ryan for missions, even though they were the best at pulling off hits he would rather just not work with the man. When he gets shot he thinks how ironic it is that he left home to get away from Ryan and yet here he is, dying in Ryan’s arms. His eyes opened to reveal his room in the safe house and he just mutters how he should have died, thinking he was alone until a voice comes from beside his bed, telling him that if he died Ryan wouldn’t have any family left and he didn’t want that Gavin. When his eyes meet Ryan’s eyes Gavin frowns taking in the familiar blue and then he realizes that the rest of his face is covered with a spattering of scars, wondering where they came from.
When Gavin feels better he starts to fill them all in, first on the fact that his name is actually Gavin, then on the rest of his life. Ryan helps fill in some blanks that Gavin didn’t know, for instance his scars were from trying to track the younger man, and being attacked in the process. A fire three years after Gavin has left home claiming both of their families, meaning they were all each other had left, and Ryan, newly medicated for a few different mental illnesses, had left home searching for him. It takes time for Kraken to become Gavin to everyone, and easily as long for Gavin to relax around Ryan. And while when he left home Gavin though he would never have family again, the Fake AH Crew proved that to be false, enveloping him into their family.
Ryan worked at a donut shop, and every day the same eight people came in, he knew them by their orders and nothing else. At least until his after work activities got noticed by the wrong, or maybe right if you looked at it in a different way, crowd.
First was a tired looking man who got a coffee and a crueler every morning. There was very little small talk the man always seemed far too tired, and far too busy. Usually on his phone with someone, either on an actual call or by text, just muttering thanks as he left the shop every morning. His frazzled hair didn’t mix with his clean pressed closed, but his facial hair held a different story.
Then was a short man, with a bit too much energy who got a plain glazed donut no drink. He was always happy to provide small talk to the other man, usually about something he knew almost nothing about. He stayed each day long enough to enjoy the donut, checking his phone periodically before leaving each day wishing Ryan a good day. He was bald, with facial hair and always wearing one too many layers, usually in a muted color.
He was followed by a trio, they came together every day chatting happily the entire time, the man from the east coast got a jelly donut with an energy drink, the woman picked chocolate with a coffee and the foreign man got a plain with a tea. The east coast man and the woman seemed to be a couple chatting with each other as they sat and ate, the man occasionally chiding the woman, while the foreign man would flitter between them and the bar where he worked often asking the most ridiculous questions. They took whichever seat they could, because sometimes there were other customers in the shop so they couldn’t have a set spot. The east coast man was a brunette with glasses and a bit of a baby face, the woman was a redhead with sparkling eyes and an eclectic fashion taste, the foreign man was tan with a dusting of caramel hair and bright green eyes.
Then came a solo woman who picked up a blueberry donut and asked for a refill of water. She was pleasant and polite to the man a ready smile on her face. She tends to bring a paper to read with her each day, her eyes skimming the news as she sits in a corner table. She was a tall redhead, who never was afraid to wear heels or a pair of short shorts.
Finally came a pair he would think were twins if not for their slightly different features and skin tones, the tan one always got a chocolate frosted and an OJ while the other got a boston kreme and an espresso. The tan one rarely talked, usually just polite quiet words, the other chatted freely, to just about anyone who would listen. They usually stood near the bar so they could keep an eye on everyone as they talked, or rather as the tan listened to the other talk. They were both tall and slim, with deep black hair and almost as deep brown eyes.
Ryan was fond of few things, his animals and his plants being the two main things, not that he made enough money at the donut shop to actively support the two. So he started working jobs, it was hard living in the city and not doing jobs, and he got good at it. It shouldn’t have surprised him when he went on a hit for someone, and then they called him back again, and again and again. He had a few repeat customers, but most only had one or two hits they needed done, the voice that called had a dozen easily. He was surprised the morning after the twelfth when the eight people he saw daily came in together. He was even more surprised when the quiet man who was always the first to show was the one who spoke and he recognized the voice. He tried not to let his shock cross his face but the foreign man smiled before telling him that they all knew who he was. That causes him to reach under the counter, causing the silent tan man to reach for a gun as the couple block the door and close the blinds. He pulls his hand out holding a chocolate sprinkled donut, starting to eat it as he tried to figure out what they want. He listens to the first man speak again grabbing another donut as he does so, unable to do much else, easily eating another three donuts as he listens. They ask him to join their crew, praising the jobs he had pulled off for them and he considered it as he grabbed another donut. Which caused the short man to blurt out, asking how many donuts the man ate in a day. Ryan just flushed in return before telling them he would join the crew, as long as he could bring his family with him. The taller woman asks if they have any skills and with a small smile Ryan answers that Copper kept the house fly free and Riley was a great mouser.
The Fake’s don’t do birthdays or holidays, not in the traditional sense at least. They will occasionally give joke gifts, but never a real gift.
Geoff supplied Jack with his birthday present, a years supply of shaving cream. Which wouldn’t be a joke but the man rarely shaved and did not need 36 cans of shaving cream at one time. However they did come in handy for pulling pranks on the lads, or when Gavin had one of his bet ideas.
Michael bought Gavin a do it yourself prostate kit, which was a joke in itself. Hinting at all the times Gavin had random shit, usually fingers, shoved up his ass by Geoff. Gavin just glared at his friend promising to get him back, and he had multiple times by slipping the fake finger into Michael’s dinner multiple times.
Jack gives a mixed bag of gifts to Jeremy, all of which play on his shorter stature. A pair of bright orange stripper heels, a set of stilts and a pair of shoes with easily a six inch platform, he isn’t amused by the gifts in the slightest. He does however use the stilts a few times because well Gavin bet him honestly.
Jeremy picks an easy joke for Geoff, knowing the mans intense fear of snakes. He bought a dozen, or two, plastic snakes hiding them around the penthouse, causing Geoff to scream basically all day, as well as one real snake, which he hides in Geoff’s closet. He almost died for that part of the joke but it was worth it and his new pet python, the Boston Strangler, had a home in his room to this day.
Ryan buys Michael a new jacket, a horribly pink leather with a cat face on the back. Michael hated it before he even fully removed it from the package. But he still wore it once on a heist because Lindsay said she found it hot, before giving it to the woman full time.
Gavin’s present to Ryan was a surprise to everyone else until they first spotted Ryan wearing one of them, he bought the man a series of t-shirts which had made him laugh, the older just smiling in return putting them into rotation. The first they saw him wear said ‘Future Mrs. Golden Boy’ in a mix of white and pink cursive across the chest, it was followed by ‘If Lost Please Return to Lazer’ in bold block letters on the back, then ‘lol ur not Mogar’ in script across the pecs, being followed by ‘Eagle’s #1 Fan’ on the back of a baseball tee and being shown up by a shirt that read ‘My Ideal Weight is Rimmy Tim On Top Of Me.’ At first they all question it but the they realize that Ryan was just playing along with Gavin’s joke, wearing the shirts often around the penthouse but never outside.
The crew had learned long ago that things like birthdays and holidays had no place in their lives. Gavin had been kidnapped by a rival crew on his birthday before, Michael ending up in the hospital for Christmas and a million other things they couldn’t control. They had lost crew members and gained crew members, they had crew members in the city and some that didn’t live there as well. The Fake’s didn’t do birthdays or holidays, they gave gifts only to remind the others that they are happy they are still alive, even if their gifts don’t help in any way shape or form.
The Fakes kept noticing that Ryan was missing a lot when they aren’t heisting.
Gavin was the first one to notice him, well really he had been searching for the man. He needed his help with a spec for a heist they had been planning. He couldn’t find the man and had resorted to watching the news and hoping that he wasn’t going to see the man wanted once again for committing a crime. He hadn’t however expected to see Ryan’s face next to a puff piece about an animal shelter. Curiosity got the better of him upon seeing his face and Gavin made his way down to the shelter, a short five blocks from the penthouse. He was surprised to see the Vagabond with a kitten wrapped around his neck, chatting happily with an older woman and petting a dog happily. He let out a squeak that caused them both to look at him and seeing Gavin Ryan’s face flushed before he rushed over, not displacing the kitten before wrapping an arm around the younger boy and placing an uncertain kiss to his forehead. Gavin was confused by that as well, until he heard Ryan whisper ‘play along.’ And soon Gavin found himself with a kitten wrapped around his neck and a dog following him around as he too volunteered at the animal shelter with Ryan.
Jack was doing laundry one day when he noticed that Gavin had a build up of fur on his clothes. He went to ask the younger boy about it when he saw Gavin and Ryan leaving the penthouse together chatting happily, in clothes he didn’t remember them owning before. So as any normal human being would, Jack followed them. He follows the pair for five blocks and is only slightly confused when Ryan holds the door open for Gavin, but then turns to look at him as well. He hears the slightly older man tell him that if he made it this far he might as well come in, they needed the help after all. When he spotted Gavin talking happily to the older woman behind the counter, he walked in, being greeted by a very friendly cat who rubs against his legs. The woman smiles happily at Jack before thanking Ryan for bringing another volunteer and then Ryan starts to show him around.
Michael wanted Gavin to come with him on a special mission, but he couldn’t find the man so he went looking for Ryan next, after all he was almost a lad and Jeremy was busy doing something for Geoff. When he can’t find either of them he goes to Jack, to see if the man knew where they were, Ryan had always been a bit of a solo bitch but his boi was never far away from a computer. When Jack hands him a bag and tells him to go to a building five blocks away he does so, without thinking. He figures Jack had some deal that he needed to take care of but then when he sees the small woman behind the counter he frowns. She smiles and asks about the bag in his hand and he stutters before spotting Ryan walking around the corner a kitten wrapped around his neck once again. Ryan greets him happily, taking the bag and saying it must be the stuff Shannon had picked up for them. Gavin’s there seconds later happily talking to the puppy he was cuddling as Michael spots him and says his name. Gavin just smiles before telling the boy they always needed more volunteers and leading him to the dogs.
Lindsay doesn’t really notice anyone is gone, she just follows Michael one day, she heard him mention cats and that was all she needed to hear. Seeing Jack sweeping the floors, Ryan cleaning the cat cages and Gavin chirping at a pair of birds she smiles widely. This was a good place, this is what she needs. Soon she’s spending almost every afternoon there, playing with the cats and cleaning up after them and really just interacting with the cats. It’s the best thing because she wanted a cat more than anything but Michael refused. She soon found herself being friends with the elderly woman who ran it alone until Ryan had found his way in one day. None of them were really sure how he had ended up there, they just knew he was there.
Jeremy is bored sitting in the penthouse, for some reason he can’t find anyone to do anything with. Normally he would find Michael or Gavin and do some lad shit or even Ryan to just fuck things up, the older man was usually able to find trouble. Finally he calls Ryan, because Michael wasn’t picking up and he wasn’t going to call Gavin, and when the older man picks up he questions him as to where he is. In the background he can hear what sounds like Gavin squaking and is even madder, why had the gent taken the lad with him but not himself. He follows Ryan’s instructions and finds not just Ryan and Gavin but essentially all of the crew there, all taking care of and surrounded by animals. Without another word he grabs a cat to play with and is soon there almost as much as Ryan and Lindsay.
Geoff is the last of the main crew to realize Ryan is going missing. Actually he notices that Ryan is missing first but then after trying to find the others he realizes that they all are missing. He can’t even have Gavin track their cell phones because the little fucker is missing as well. If they all got themselves captured by a fucking enemy crew he was going to be livid, he had just gotten used to this bunch. He has one of the B-team look for them, Alfredo wasn’t as good as Gavin but probably less likely to have gotten himself captured as Gavin was. When he tracks them all to one place Geoff figures they are either heisting without him or somehow all got captured together. He decides to take a risk on the first one and makes his way to the location, looking confused at the store front. Why the hell are they all at an animal shelter, he makes his way inside and upon spotting Lindsay sitting behind the desk petting a cat and chatting with the woman behind it he frowns. A few questions lead to him writing a check to the friendly old lady behind the counter. He wasn’t one to get his hands dirty, at least not with the cats and dogs.
It only takes a few weeks for people to start noticing the shape of the shelter, it had been run down before. There is fresh paint on the walls, the windows are clean, the floors are spotless, the animals seem happy and there seem to be an influx of people there. Soon the animals that they all knew and loved were finding new homes, better homes, homes vetted by the fakes, not that the adopters knew that. And then there are new animals that come and go, each one being loved by the fakes for at least a little while before finding forever homes. When Margie, the woman behind the counter dies, her funeral is attended by the Fakes, and the shelter stays open, bought by a handsome middle aged man with sky blue eyes who is there most days of the week. Because above all else Ryan loves the animals.
Gavin doesn’t remember meeting them all. He doesn’t remember a lot some times, too busy with his head in a screen of some sort, computer, phone or camera.
He knows he met Geoff first, he had been at a fan event and somehow got the older man’s attention. He doesn’t remember their conversations or how it came about but soon he was moving in with the man, working for him. He came to view the man as a mix of a very annoying big brother and a loving dad. He knows he met Geoff first.
Jack was next, he thinks at least, it was Jack or Michael, or maybe Ryan, honestly those years kinda blended together. Jack worked with Geoff too part of a bigger company, but just there. He doesn’t remember a time when the man wasn’t there, though he likes to joke about a time he’s heard of. He knows Jack is a friend true and true a protector. He thinks he met Jack second.
Michael must have been next, well if Jack was second that is, because Ray was after him, he was pretty sure. He knows they ‘met’ on Valentine’s Day, calling it their anniversary and always making sure everyone knows it, including their significant others. He was his boi, his closest friend of the group, the one he turned to often for chats and bevs. He’s pretty sure he met Michael next.
Ray he knows was after Michael, but before Jack he wasn’t sure. He just knows that the other man disliked the use of his nickname for an introduction. He was close with him, well until the lad left, then they talked but barely, sharing a few special jokes with each other. He knows Ray is after Michael.
Ryan was just there, but he wasn’t introduced for a while, or at least Gavin doesn’t remember the introduction. He remembers being frightened of the man at first, of the feelings in his stomach, of the thoughts in his head. He assumes the man doesn’t like him, until he learned to trust the man, to love him. He knows Ryan has and will always be there.
Jeremy was the last, he knows that for certain. He knows the boy just wants to be part of the group, willing to do anything to impress. He likes the man a lot, even though he often seems to not like him in return, but he knows he’s a friend. He knows Jeremy was last.
Gavin didn’t remember much now a days. He doesn’t remember all the happy times or all the sad. He can see the proof of them via the pictures, messages, videos he has. He might not remember much, since his accident, but he knows these people are people he loves and trusts.
Fake AH crew where just over 50 years ago people started to be born with differences that were animalistic.
Geoff is fierce with hynena claws and sharp teeth that could cut through anything in front of him, a bundle of laughter that cuts through the somewhat terrifying exterior.
Ryan is cunning with black Vulture wings emerging from his back and a taste for meat far too rare to be normal, happy to prey on anyone less fortunate.
Jack is overprotective with bear like features, always wanting to make sure the boys are well fed and safe, willing to tear your throat out to insure it.
Michael is strong with gorilla tendencies, the strongest of the bunch, who protects his family heartily but also punishes Gavin for risking them, scary but also admirable.
Gavin is challenging with golden palm weaver wings, a squeak little shit who at the same time they all want to keep safe and yet kill chaotic as fuck, just wants to have a good time.
Jeremy is adaptable with chameleon features, the ability to change his looks allowing him to be almost a new person for every heist, easily the smallest of the bunch but with the biggest and boldest personality(and hair).
Fake AH crew AU where everyone has a literal spirit animal that pops up in times of need.
Geoff quit drinking because he knew it was killing him and he wanted to be around for many more years and whenever he was troubled the pure white wolf pup howled his way into existence, effectively letting the others know Geoff needed help but also crying out for the pain he felt in the man, licking at his face and happy chasing around the others animals if they are around together, a reminder of how they somehow balanced each other out.
Ryan wanted to curb the feeling in his bones that called for death and blood going on murder breaks unannounced until a small black jaguar appeared, stalking the penthouse the beast would pounce on whoever it could, usually an unsuspecting Gavin or a drained Ryan, playfully growling its pathetic baby roar as it tried to crush their head in its mouth, always unsuccessfully, though once it breaks Gavin’s arm which cheers Ryan up and makes him feel horrible at the same time.
Jack cares too much, wants everyone to have a good time but also to not have to worry about it and when worry is all she can do suddenly a eagle appears helping her keep an eye on the other boys, trying to feed them raw fish and chasing away what danger she can, flying away from the paws of the others animals a mother eagle just trying to protect her young even if they do have fur and claws and can’t fly.
Michael wants the crew to succeed, they aren’t always the most put together or capable group of people and he hates to see them fail, especially if it’s his fault those days are the worst the Doberman showing up next to him, rubbing it’s nose against the man’s hand to get him relaxed and protecting him from the non existent blame of the others happily chasing around the youngsters being easily three times their size.
Gavin was chaotic full of weird motions the crew questioned, a million dollars worth of flashy gold and almost as many weird questions but then the boy would go silent and they wouldn’t realize his mood and a then a small Siamese kitten would appear rubbing against the boy who seemed drained, almost anchoring him to the real world by forcing him to touch something warm, a warm body to cuddle on those horrible sad and lonely nights where the boy feels as if he isn’t worth it anymore.
Jeremy plays it off as if being Rimmy Tim is just a thing, but the feeling of confidence when donning the outfit, the fear he knows the name alone can cause surge through his body, after all he was a force to be reckoned with since joining, but the days that the baby ape show up are some of the worst, he questions everything, from his decision to be Rimmy Tim to if the crew would be better off without him, there was a period of heists where the man showed up with the ape curled to his chest trying to curb those fears, other times the small beast proves he’s all he thinks he is a tiny terror not to be messed with, but his favorite thing is pulling on the others tails and running, a bit of a joke between the spirit animals.
Fake AH Crew AU where Ryan found the others as he made his adventures and they just somehow stuck. Honestly how did he always end up with strays?
First was Gavin, a scrawny little shit with fight and flight both in his eyes. His fists raised pathetically as if to defend himself against Ryan’s gun which was pointed his way. He took one look at the pathetic boy and the growl in his throat couldn’t be held in. The bastards he had already killed in the villa had obviously done something to the boy. He stalked over simply to try and access the situation easier and the boy had fainted, leaving him with no choice but to scoop him up and carry him on his way out. It took four days of trying to feed the shivering boy without frightening him and also trying to make sure he didn’t leave before the boy spoke, and honestly Ryan missed nothing more than the silence.
Jack was the next he found. Ryan had gotten shot on a mission, he blamed it on worrying about the Brit who he hadn’t heard from in almost a week. Who the fuck had let that little bastard worm his way into his heart like this, Ryan swore he would kill him even though he knew realistically he wouldn’t. Jack had found the man leaning against a dumpster in the alley behind the shitty cafe he was currently working in, and just took him in shaking his head and telling the man he was an idiot before starting to patch him up. He ended up going home with the man, simply because he couldn’t remember where he had been staying the past few days and didn’t want to go to a hospital so Jack might as well take care of him. When he had left the state three days later Jack was riding passenger side in his car, occasionally reminding the man to eat and drink, after all he had been shot, and after returning home and realizing Gavin was not talking to him because he was left alone, Jack started to clean and cook somehow almost never leaving the small apartment at first.
Jeremy arrived next, though he had come home from a mission wiping blood off his hands as he opened he door and saw Gavin sprawled across the couch while the younger boy was seated on the ground, both playing a video game. First he’s mad at Gavin, the urge to go back in time and just kill the brat in the villa because no one would no better crossing his mind for the hundredth time, but then he just is confused at the boy who doesn’t use real words, though not to the degree of the Brit. Soon Jeremy was tagging along on missions, it was hard to be as stealth as he would have liked when the smaller man quietly let out “haps” a noise he grew to associate with him. And then there was the day when Jeremy got stabbed, he worried the entire drive back to the very obviously too small apartment for the four grown men who now occupied it, just hoping that Jack would be able to help his little battle buddy, though he isn’t sure when he started to think of the man as such.
Geoff was another afterthought. He had been sent to kill a man, who just so happened to be chatting with the older man and Geoff hadn’t blinked when the knife went to his targets throat. He just stood telling the man it was just unfortunate their business deal wasn’t going to work out and had moved as his throat was slit but not fast enough. He had taken a look at Ryan and sighed, spotting the blood soaking his formerly white button up, before telling the other he owed him for his dry cleaning bill. Ryan was taken aback by the man’s words and moved to take him out as well when Geoff held up a hand explaining to the man he couldn’t care less about what Ryan had done but this was his good shirt and he needed it clean so could the man kindly. Ryan just shook his head before leaving trying to ignore the man following, who was loudly complaining about his shirt and when he arrived home with Geoff in tow Jack just sent him a knowing look before helping the man get his shirt clean. That was the day Ryan started looking for a different place to live, because there was no way the five men could comfortably fit in his two bedroom apartment.
Lindsay came into his life with more than just herself. The woman had been hiding in the bushes near his new house, a small kitten cuddled to her chest as she cried softly, trying to not let anyone know she was there. Ryan only knew because the kitten came out and when he reached down to pet it her hand had sprung out grabbing his wrist and bending it backwards. He was stronger though and lifted the woman being shocked by her appearance before inviting her, and the kitten she was so protective over, into the house, the boys would welcome her he knew, after all he had welcomed them all. The first to embrace the woman had been Jeremy who was just as chaotic as her at times, which he had found out after saving the pair from a shoot out with half the police force and swat members even though the pair only had a pair of pistols and a bunch of Molotov’s, and had a love of cats as well, though all the others also liked the kitten. And soon the house was filled with animals she picked up and nursed back to health, each one reminding Ryan of one of the others.
Michael wasn’t just found, he was searched for. Ryan needed someone who could get him military grade explosives and had been told that there was only one guy in the market who could. It took a few weeks of chasing the man down before Ryan found him and he would have happily just bought his explosives for the man and left but something stopped him. It was probably the fact that the man was a few days deep into a fight with the flu and looked like death standing there. Ryan had taken one look at the man and called Jack letting him know they would be having a guest who needed help and then walked over to the abrasive man. He looked at the gun in Michael’s hand and gently removed it before wrapping an arm around the boy and bringing him home. When he finally recovered a few days later it was obvious the boy wasn’t leaving, he was friends with Lindsay, Jeremy and Gavin, though the latter was a very iffy relationship, respected Geoff, in a way none of the rest of them seemed to because he man got mad at mini golf, was kin with Jack, who had found an ally of a sort in the younger boy, and grateful for Ryan, you save one life honestly.
Ryan would look around the table at dinner time, a meal they always shared if possible, and wonder why he always found strays that just never left, but he wouldn’t change a thing. The crew he had acquired over the years was a family he had longed for, even if Gavin did still distract them during missions with his dumb questions, Jack still pissed them all off blaring the horn of whatever vehicle he could during heists, Jeremy liked to stick out like a sore thumb with his clothing choices always, Geoff liked to think he was the boss even though they all knew he wasn’t, Lindsay took pride in fucking up their missions in her own individual way, and Michael would blow up Gavin’s vehicles any chance he got, especially on missions, just to fuck with the other man.
