This is an 18+ blog. I don’t care if it’s censored and tagged, respect my space.
Hi, I’m Earwiggy, but you can also call me Wiggs or Wiggy. I’m 29, transmasculine non-binary (he/they), and I draw weird gay stuff, weird kink stuff, and just general weird stuff.
I mostly fixate on my OCs and canon worldbuilding, and at some point I’ll compile a list of my characters and link it here. My typical character staples are Jake and Kurt though. Btw this also doubles as an OC ask blog so feel free to suggest stuff or throw things at my characters. I also love answering questions, rambling kink and headcanons, and the general tumblr fuckery.

The night was cool, cloudy, with a whisper of rain carried by a gentle breeze. While quiet, the water was far from still, rippling and rocking the glorified canoe Chris used to collect her data. Thankfully she didn’t need to go far from the shore to get what she needed. The steep drop off from large sand bars made shore within reach while the water was deep enough to study fauna and flora below.
After a moment, there was a shift in the water. The boat jerked. Not hard, but enough to grab her attention Chris gripped the side, knuckles already white. Alarms flashed in her stomach, sharp and hot as her eyes darted around. After a moment of nothing, her eyes caught a shape moving just below the boat. A blur of red and light blue eased its way by. Almost leisurely…maybe hungrily.
Slowly Chris moved back, reaching into a cooler at her side. She kept fish bait on hand just in case she needed a distraction. After a moment, another movement. This time closer. The shape was…strange. Too long for any creature Chris saw before. Her mind dismissed the oddities as soon as she caught sight of a dorsal fin. Shark. The realization blared an alarm that forced her to her knees, staring down into the watery depths.
There was a splash behind her. Chris whipped around, staring at a rippling mass of bubbles. She frowned. That was…suspicious. Slowly, she turned back around. Her skin felt tight with wariness. Halfway around, she froze, catching sight of a shape that had not been there moments prior. Her stomach knotted, and she felt fear pouring cold down her back. Slowly, the brunette lifted her gaze, only to be met with a pair of yellowed green eyes. Beneath them split a smile too wide for any human to muster.
Chris threw herself back, nearly capsizing her boat in the process. The boat threw her forward, and she straightened with a grunt. She stared wide-eyed at the strange creature before her. Almost human, almost fish. Human face, eyes, nose, lips, but with some stark contrasts. His skin was blue, almost blending in with the sky; he was sopping wet, making him shine like ripples on the water. Frilled, pointed ears poked out behind a mass of red hair, somehow standing upwards despite being waterlogged.
A merperson. Chris stared at it, him, dumbfounded. There had been whispers, sure, humanoid creatures lurking beneath the waves. Luring sailors and scientists to their doom… But to see one in the flesh? Slowly, she rubbed at her eyes, lowering her hands to meet the same, grinning gaze gleaming back at her. No, not a hallucination.
Instead of making any moves, the creature’s gaze flicked up and down her form. Studying her? Chris shifted, skin and hair bubbling with unease. She didn’t like the way the shark was eyeing her. Something sharp, biting, predatory leered at her through those eyes. The shark’s focus fell to her side, and his gaze grew intense. She glanced over. Oh, the cooler. But why was he staring at that? Frowning, Chris looked back to the shark person, whose gaze met hers again. He looked to the cooler, then her.
The intentions were clear enough, though Chris felt something stir in her stomach. Would moving too quickly set the creature off? What if she accidentally moved too fast and spooked him? What if he took something as a threat and lashed out? Her hand, stiff with anxiety made an agonizing move for the cooler. No movement from the shark. Chris moved a bit faster, opening the lid to some snacks she’d packed for herself. She reached in and held one up. The shark leaned more into the boat. Chris tilted forwards, bracing herself with a gasp through her clenched teeth. Immediately, he leaned away, eyes locked on the wrapped snack.

Chris lowered the snack cake, hesitating. She opened the wrapper and held it out. Faster than she could react, a thick, webbed hand snatched the food from her shaking grip. Chris recoiled and watched as the shark stuffed the cake, wrapper and all, into a mouth lined with gleaming ivory fangs. With a single swallow, it was gone, and the shark’s attention shifted to her once more. She reached a now-damp hand into the cooler again and handed him an unwrapped cake. As he devoured it she pocketed the wrapper, staring at him.
He was…oddly heavyset for a merperson. A whale? But no-his fins were definitely shark fins. She shifted, trying to peer further down, only for the boat to rock backwards. The merman had flinched away, now staring at her with a glare. Chris raised her hands.
“Sorry, I-…” she hesitated. Did he understand common tongue? Recordings of merfolk speaking weren't well known nor validated. Hard to say…worth a shot to show she meant no harm. “I’m not here to hurt you,” she reached back into the cooler and passed him another unwrapped treat. “Here-“ It was snatched away with as much vigor as the first, and the strange creature went back to staring.
Chris sat back on her boat, eyes flicking down to the water. No, too dark to see his form. She sighed and looked back to the cooler. A few more treats left…and it was getting too late to get much more data for later. She reached into the cooler, carefully unwrapping all of the treats. Once done, she held them out. The merman snatched them all, his eyes wide. For a moment Chris swore he was drooling…but before she could get a good look, his jaws opened, almost unhinging, and the food was stuffed inside with everything else. Gone in an instant.
Chris sat back in the boat. The merman licked his lips, eyeing her for another moment. Then, he was gone with a single splash. Chris sat up, leaning over the edge of the boat. She looked down. Her reflection stared back at her, wide eyed, exhausted. She sank back into the boat, rubbed her head, grabbed her oars. Maybe it was time to head back.
~~
Jake peered above the water as the boat began to ease out of sight. It would have been easy to tip it, fling the human into the water. Eat her with all those treats…but if he did that, she wouldn’t bring him more. The shark frowned. Nah. She wasn’t worth the fight…besides, she’d been coming to this spot for a few days now. Picking off the scraps she threw over the sides, while padding his growing waistline, had become a pastime of the mako’s. He almost anticipated the little boat to make its appearance now, bringing new and tasty treats with it. Sure as hell beat hunting. All that swimming, just to find another measly shark or two-hardly enough for a big guy like himself.
He watched the boat for a moment more. She’d definitely fit, he’d eaten much bigger. It had been a while since his last human-and those that fished were always so salty. Maybe she’d taste better… Maybe he could eat her for a while, spit her back out. That could work. Then he could eat her again, she’d still bring food. Long as she didn’t run away. Which…he got the sense she wouldn’t. She’d stuck around this long…
Or maybe she would, and he’d still get a good taste. Jake frowned. There’d be other suckers…though no humans had stuck around this long. Eating her the usual way didn’t sit right with him, either. It wasn’t because he cared…because he didn’t. It was just…easier having her around. Yeah. Nothing else, no other reason. His jaws parted in a yawn, eyes resting as he dozed and swam. Better to put the feelings away for now. Either way, he’d eat her. Yeah…that was a good start. The rest he could figure out later.
~~
Chris rowed over the sand bank, barely responding to the familiar THUD of her boat scooting over it. Taking a second to ensure the sand was settled, she pushed off to deeper water. Today her cooler was stocked with various foods. Fish, sweets, some vegetables. Anything that looked edible to try with the new fanged, friendly face. It had become a routine now. Go over the sand bank, row out a ways and study, then feed the shark when he came by.
Her boat bobbed lazily on the current. The evening sun cast long shadows into the blue depths. Warm, hushing wind gently tousled her hair. A perfect day to try and make friendly with a shark person.
She frowned. Was this a good idea? Keeping herself occupied feeding wildlife human foods? Would the merperson get sick? If he hadn’t already, it wasn’t likely. From all studies conducted on merfolk they could digest human food. It stood to reason it would be fine. And she’d brought plenty of fresh-caught fish from some locals, his natural diet. Surely it would be fine.
Her head twisted at a splash to her right, nearly rocking the boat with the speed. Just a ripple. Probably a fish. Chris sighed. A heavy rock of disappointment sat in her gut as she sat back in the boat, only to feel it jerk under her. She recoiled, eyes rounding to face the familiar shark once more. He’d propped himself up to his shoulder on the side of her boat. A pointed grin met her gaze. Water dribbled from the blue of the shark’s skin onto her boat.
It took Chris a second to register what was happening, and an additional breath for her heart to calm. She laughed breathlessly.
“Ahah…hah, very…very funny,” she shook her head. “You got me…” She reached over, cracking open the cooler to toss him some snacks. They were immediantly devoured, some before they hit the water. Chris unloaded the second batch, watching the shark as he greedily occupied himself.
While he ate, she looked him over. He’d definitely gotten more heavyset than the last time she’d seen him. Rolls of blubber floated in the water, sagging down when he surfaced. If she didn’t know better, and his hide wasn’t blue, she’d almost mistake him for an awkwardly shaped seal. How the weight effected his buoyancy was beyond her…was it harder to swim down now? How deep did he need to swim for food?
After a few more minutes, the shark seemed to realize she was still sitting in the boat. He looked up, half a donut coming between his lips. A pink tongue swiped it into his jaws before Chris could get a word out. She raised a brow.
“I don’t have any more,” she sighed, leaning back in the boat.
There was a moment of quiet.
“…dammit.”
Chris shot up. Her eyes darted to the merman, whose head was lowered to the water, as if searching for something. She could have sworn she’d heard a voice. Deep and gravely, with a scratchiness unlike anything she’d heard, with an accent too-though its origins were beyond her. She squinted. The merman, seeming just as shocked as she was, stared back at her for a moment.
“Oh, fine,” he groaned, throwing his head back. “Ya’ dun heard me talk…”
She straightened. Green eyes eventually lowered, meeting her eager gaze with one of flat in amusement.
“You…you can talk-“ Chris began.
“So can ya’,” he shrugged. “Ain’t nothin’ special.”
“I…maybe not to you,” she leaned forward in the boat. Eyes examined him with a new scrutiny, watching his throat’s gills pinned to his neck. “To me it’s…very special.”
“Uh-huh,” he shifted, and Chris realized he was backing up. His eyes were warier now.
She blinked, leaning back. Right. Too much too soon. “Sorry. I-I’ve met other merfolk before, and I haven’t…I’ve never heard them talk,” Chris explained. She shuffled, rubbing at her neck sheepishly. “I, uh…I didn’t mean to get too excited.”
“Er…’s fine. Yer not th’first human t’get real interested when I starts talkin’.”
Her eyes flicked upwards to catch a shrug. Curious. So he knew human gestures? How many did he know? Who taught him, or was it instinctual? Questions darted around her mind like a school of fish. She shook her head, focusing on here here. Questions later. Now was the time for introductions.
“I don’t…actually, I know I never got your name. I’m Christina, but most people call me Chris. What’s yours?” She stuck a hand out to the open water.
The shark’s eyes honed in on her hand. For a moment, there was a flicker of something. Though she couldn’t name it right away, her muscles tightened. A natural response to something ready to attack. She stared. Something hungry in that gaze. By the time she could name the look, it was gone, and he was closer than he had been before.
He stared at her hand, then at her. A webbed hand lifted from the water, smacked hers, and descended into the navy depths with a flat splash. Chris sat up, pulled back. Her hand dripped with salty water. Maybe he didn’t know that many human greetings. A chuckle almost escaped her.
“Jake,” his voice startled her. She jerked to look at him. Red brows rose at her response. “Ya’ can calls me Jake.”
Chris was quiet. Ah. His name. Her heart thudded fully in her chest, quieting as the surge of fear fell away.
She nodded slowly. “Uh…okay, yeah. Hi, Jake.” After a moment she sat back in her boat. “So…what brings you this close to the surface? I didn’t think mako merfolk like you patrolled this high up.”
Now Jake went quiet. Quiet enough for Chris to notice he’d gotten even closer to her boat, almost close enough to touch without capsizing. Chris caught a look, pensive, before he replied.
“Humans is always givin’ me treats…so I kinda sticks around here…” he shrugged, “most of ‘em don’t hang around long once I starts talkin.”
She frowned. “Why wouldn’t they?” The question fell from her mouth before she could stop it.
Jake shrugged, eyeing her nonchalantly. “Dunno. Ain’t think it’s my lack of charms~,” his lips parted in a grin that made Chris feel uneasy. Hungry…why did he look so hungry?
“Right…” Chris shifted. She could see why people hesitated. A gnawing, morbid curiosity kept her rooted. “Just what do you eat, other than donuts?”
“Eh, some fishes, some mer folk, ain’t too picky,” he absently picked at a tooth, glancing to her. “Peoples too, usually if they falls outta their floaty things.”
There it was. Chris felt something heavy sink to her stomach, then past it. Her limbs felt heavy, wrong as she stared into those emerald eyes. What was worse, a part of her wanted to see how it happened, how he managed to eat an entire person. Did he chew-was he even capable of doing so?
“Could eats you,” the shark continued. Chris shrank back as the shark’s proximity became even more apparent. He was an arm’s length away, maybe less. Close enough she realized he was much bigger the her. Not just tall, but his blubber-laden body blocked out the sun, casting a dark and looming shadow around her boat. In that moment she felt very small. She leaned back, the realization kicking in some ancient survival instinct. Her skin prickled as though she’d fallen into a giant urchin. Spindly spines of ice cold fear crackled over her.
“Y…you could-“ she squeaked, “but…should you?”
“Dunno,” Jake moved slow. Intentionally. A webbed hand planted itself on the edge of her boat. Chris gripped the other side, eyes wide and muscles wild. She needed to run, to get away from this predator, but there was nowhere to go.
“I-if you do, I can’t feed you-“ Chris protested, watching as the shark pushed down. Her boat tilted. She braced her feet, scrunching herself into the opposite end of the little paddle boat. “A-and I can’t be the-I won’t be able to talk-!”
His eyes met hers. For a second there was consideration.
“Eh, ya’ll be feedin’ me either way~.”
All at once the boat set into motion. Chris yelped as she was pitched forward. She impacted the water with a splash, limbs flailing to catch herself. Her clothes felt like weights tied to each one, making her sink further into the water as she fought. Through a bubbly, salty haze, she squinted in the water. Her eyes were met with a tooth-framed pink abyss. Before she could react Jake rushed forward, and warmth and darkness swallowed her face. She tried to push back the shark, to shove him away, but webbed hands clamped down over her arms.
A deep, resonating hum filled the squishy black as she was fed forward. Something pulsed around her head, and with a horrible squelching sound, she felt herself shoved further into the shark’s jaws. Her legs kicked at the water, ultimately doing little good. Another pulse pulled her in, and another. The muffled bubbling of the ocean soon transformed to a symphony of sounds Chris cringed to place. Flexing water, shifting muscles and bone, the sound of every swallow sucking her down. Somewhere she could hear the thud of a heartbeat.
It felt like an eternity before the crushing chute of the shark’s throat opened to a more roomy space. One filled with air instead of water. Chris gasped, eyes opening as her lungs desperately filled themselves with a heaving cough. The air smelled stale, thick, and reeked of the ocean, but it was breathable. Enough to ease the ache that had settled into her chest. She grunted as she slid with another swallow, face scrunching into something slimy and warm. Her face contorted in the murky black.
More and more of her body fell into the shark’s middle, slipping in like wet cement. Chris couldn’t place if the adrenaline crash was draining her more or if it was the weight of her body’s it left the water’s embrace. Either way, she sank like a stone into the cramped stomach, scrunching herself up with a numb reverence.
Once she felt herself fully slip into the stomach, her hands pressed out. There was a strange sound, a deep and crass rumble, followed by something dully thumping against her side. Like she was being patted under a thick layer of blankets. She pushed her arms out, unable to extend them fully before a soft, heavy layer stopped her.
“What…” she winced, “what just…happened?”
~~
Jake glanced down to his middle as he felt something push out. His hand glided over the spot. Huh. No bulge. He rubbed over it for a moment, brows quirked. Had he always been that thick? …No, he’d been able to see bulges from large meals before.
Humming, the shark patted the spot. Nobody would mess with him now~. And, now, with the extra weight, he finally felt himself sinking down to the sandy ocean floor. Jake moved to stretched himself out as he settled into the shallows. A shadow passed over him, giving him pause. He glanced up.
The floaty thingy bobbed above him. Jake frowned. Slowly, he pushed his tail, swimming up to the weird human contraption. It would sink if he left it here too long, and then the human-Chris-wouldn’t come back. Wouldn’t bring him food… Slowly, he reached up, pulled down on the weird shape. Didn’t budge. He huffed. Stupid human thing. He reached up to one side, so that water rushed into the bottom. As it filled, it sank. Jake snatched the cooler as it sank too-finding it empty. Ugh.
He followed the boat as it fell further into the water, landing right side up onto the sandy floor. Jake let himself sink with it, eventually laying on top of it. He could feel the strange shape grown beneath him-but it held. Heh. Smirking, the shark stretched himself out sideways along Chris’ way home. Maybe he could use it as leversge…yeah. Let her out and say if she came back to feed him, he’d give back the boat. Yeah.
“Hey-“ he poked his stomach. There was an immediate jolt in his middle. Jake grinned. “Ya’ still breathin’?” Not that he cared…though his ears did perk to pick up his captive’s response. And maybe a little anxiety swirled in his stomach when it took a second for her to respond. But only a little.
“Uh-I…yeah?” Came the quiet answer. Jake felt himself relax, settling into the little boat’s frame. “I’m…I’m breathing…and-you…you-you ate me! Why did-how…why?!” Jake could feel her squirming now, prompting him to pat his middle and watch the ripples it made.
“Hmm…ya’ tasted good, I wanted to, an’…oh, I’m a shark,” he said with a snicker. “‘S kinda my thing t’eats people.”
“Am I gonna….” She fell quiet. “Are…will you let me out?”
Ah, there it was. Jake grinned, a hand gliding over his middle. He pressed into the fat a little. “Hm…I dunno, are ya’ gonna makes it worth my while?~”
“I-how…?”
“Ya’ can starts by bringin’ more foods next time…lots of it~. An’, if I catch ya in the water an’ ya don’t feed me, I cans always do this again. I can makes it stick…an’, too, I gots yer floaty thingy, so ya’ cant’s really go nowhere unless ya’ promise.”
Another pause. Jake smugly stretched out along his newfound resting place. It was oddly comfortable, less scratchy than the sandy bottom.
“I…guess I don’t have much choice, do I?” Jake felt her slump, sagging his stomach just slightly.
“Nope~,” he snickered. “So ya’ better makes good on it.”
“I…yeah, I can…as soon as you let me out-“
“N’ I will, after a nap~.”
“A-after?!” Came the frantic question. Oh, this was just too perfect. Jake patted his middle.
“Mhmm, after. Means not before, y’know,” he waved a webbed hand, stretching as he settled his head down. “I’ll gets in my nap, an’ then I’ll letcha go.”
“But, what if I…?” What she meant was clear enough from the wariness in her voice. What if she didn’t make it through his nap?
“Eh, ya’ll be fine. Probably~.”
He felt her squirm again though he paid it no mind. She’d be fine as long as he kept his stomachs in check. A nice, long nap sounded nice, especially with his second stomach finishing off the last of the treats. So, for now, she shark closed his eyes with a sigh, sinking into sleep with a massive snore. His mind painted beautiful pictures of the treats that awaited him when he woke up.
Jake stirred. For a moment, he saw the hazy light of his enclosure leaking through his eyelids. His body tensed, eyes squinted, before the glow began to fade, and he realized it was sunlight. Sunlight… Even the word sounded warm. Bright. A promise of…something, though Jake didn’t know what. He still hadn’t gotten used to it. Or most things about freedom.
He glanced down as something shifted. Not him, nor a scientist ripping open his uniform to start another exam. No, blanketed under a mess of brown hair was Chris’ face. She was still splayed out across his chest like she’d been when he’d dozed off. Fast asleep, half clutching the pillow she’d tossed on him before conking out. Her chest rose and fell with his. Slow, gentle breaths. She shifted again, snorted, then resumed dozing.
Was this…real? All of this? His eyes flickered to the room. Soft yellow dapples lit up the cream walls, lined with shelves of oddities and trinkets Jake didn’t understand. Everything looked to be in place. Nothing new… He was still...safe. He frowned. Safe…a feeling he didn’t know what to do with. How long would this last? His eyes fell to the human again.
She was still here… He lifted a hand, rubbed at his face. He looked to the door. For a moment he expected it to burst open. His ears pinned. A flood of researchers and collection teams destroying what little peace he’d managed to enjoy. Waking up with a clean bed, fresh food…companionship. For the first time in his life. And he was terrified.
A story I wrote for @sindumpster with their character Jake and my Chris in our hybrid!AU! Had a lot of fun with this one~ if you don’t know Wiggy (which firstly how could you not) you should follow him here and elsewhere!! Thanks for reading, and click below to read the rest!
Chris shifted again. Jake looked to the door. Back to Chris. He lifted an arm, slowly, and gently laid it over the human’s back. There. Now…she couldn’t disappear. She couldn’t vanish. It gave him some relief. But…not enough for the redhead to get back to sleep. He sighed.
His eyes moved back to the ceiling. A thought occurred to him. There was one way he could keep her even closer… Make sure she wouldn’t disappear. She wouldn’t like it, of course, but…maybe he could do it discreetly.
Clawed hands gently closed around Chris’ waist. She was a deep sleeper; his late night snack excursions taught him that. It was only the first night she caught him beside her bed, and that was most likely mutual anxiety keeping her awake. Now she was limp. Almost worryingly so, if not for the gentle rise and fall of her chest.
He carefully scooted her up his chest. She didn’t respond, save a mumble. Another scoot. Another. Eventually, she was close enough. Jake checked to make sure she hadn’t stirred. Then, he opened his mouth.
~~
Chris recoiled as something warm touched her face. Not unpleasant, but enough to stir the sleeping brunette. She opened her eyes to darkness and warmth.
“Wh…huh?” The mumbled yawn was met by the darkness surging forwards. Heat and humidity consumed her face as she was squished somewhere familiar. “Mh?!?” Something gripped at her head and began to tug her back.
Her senses came back then. She felt hands gripping her waist, keeping her arms pinned as she was fed forwards and into Jake, most likely. The human wriggled, irritation building. What was he doing?! Muscles contracted around her head, ushering her down with the squelch of a swallow. She groaned internally. While Jake had hinted at eating her…she didn’t think he’d go through with it this soon. Maybe tomorrow, but tonight he seemed content!
Another ripple tugged her shoulders and arms into the fleshy embrace. A hum reverberated around the human. It definitely sounded familiar…admittedly, that put her at ease. She still scowled at the throat around her, and the owner of it, despite knowing he’d never see. Her hands scrabbled against his chest, finding no purchase as the hybrid’s jaws yawned over her middle.
Rippling muscles ushered the researcher down, down, past thundering heartbeats and the wishing of lungs, down further stull into a gurgling gut. Chris wrinkled her face as a final ring of muscle pushed her down, squishing her into the embrace of Jake’s stomach. The air was thick and humid, but breathable as she sank further inside. Once her arms were free from his throat, Chris pulled herself along as she was fed inside.
The rest of the world vanished away. Jake took in her legs, her feet, and they soon squished in to join her. Chris huffed and settled herself among the folds of muscle. Jake’s stomach groaned contently, and rippled. Above, she heard him let out a breath. A burp, at her guess…gross.
“Ugh, I thought you said you were fine tonight!” Chris snipped, crossing her arms as she settled back. She felt something thump at her side.
“Saids I was…an’ then I wasn’t,” the hybrid’s voice was muffled, somehow louder, “ain’t my fault…”
Some of her grouchy exterior faltered. Right…Jake was still dealing with everything. She pushed a hand out where she felt the pat. “Yeah, but….you didn’t have to eat me-“
“What else am I supposed t’do?” The walls tightened.
“Talk to me, Jake!” Chris threw her hands up as best the cramped space would allow. “I’m here! I’ve always been here! You can come talk to me!”
“About what?” His voice was sharper now.
“About how you feel, about what’s bugging you, about why you’ve been so weird, I don’t know! I’m trying my best to help you, but that only works if you let me know what’s going on!”
“I-I dunno what’s goin on! I…” the walls tightened, almost crushing Chris as they did. “I-this is…I dunno!” The room shuddered, and Chris realized how fast Jake’s breaths had become. His heartbeat was much faster, too; she could feel it pulsing through his stomach.
Chris winced. This wasn’t working. Jake…hadn’t been good with his emotions before, she doubted jumping on him was going to do any good. She pushed her hands out, feeling the walls close in around her fingers as though they were examining her.
“Jake…this is a lot, okay? I…I know. Things have all been moving really fast, and you were already not 100% on staying here, and now you’re thinking about going outside, and you’ve never done that before, right?”
“...No…”
“And you’ve got me..pushing you, probably not helping a whole lot when you’re already overwhelmed…and I shouldn’t be so hard on you about that. I’m…sorry.” She pressed her hand out and rubbed in a slow, small circle. The walls began to relax. The pounding heartbeat slowed, relaxing slightly. “I just…it’s a little hard for me, too, I guess, and sometimes I get frustrated because I want to help you, but…sometimes I don’t know how.”
“Mm,” Jake hummed. Chris felt the walls tighten, slightly, and relax around her. The pressure against her shifted, seemingly rubbing back at her. “Yer…not bad at helpin’, though…weren’t fer you, I’d still be stuck in that damn cell… But I was in there so long…dunno what to do with bein’ out.”
Chris sighed. “Yeah…yeah, and that makes sense, too. Being out here is so much different than being in a cell. And…you’re dealing with all of those memories on top of having to understand what’s going on out here.”
“Mhmm… An’ the nightmares…”
She blinked. “Nightmares…?”
“Yeah…them’s is the worst…”
Slowly, she shifted. If he’d been having more nightmares… “Is…did you have one tonight?”
Jake was quiet. That was all the answer she needed. Chris pushed her hands out, rubbing once more. “Okay. Well..whatever happened in the dream, it’s all over now. You’re okay.”
A pause.
“Mh…guess so,” Jake’s voice trailed off.
Once again, Chris felt the pressure against her. She frowned. Maybe the nightmare had something to do with his reaction…that made sense. But, in the spirit of not pushing, she sighed. Though it was only her second time inside the hybrid’s gut, there was something…safe to it. If they were found…she was hidden. A strange feeling, but not unwelcome. She pressed her fingers into the walls again. And, honestly, it was hard to be mad at Jake when he was in this state.
“Well…I guess I’ll sleep here tonight, then…if you need any blankets, you know where to get them?”
“Yeah…I gots it. I’ll, uh…letcha out in th’morning.”
“You better, or no breakfast for you!” she nudged a wall with a chuckle. “That sounds fine, though. Try and get some rest tonight, okay?”
“Mmh…yeah,” he broke into a yawn, and the walls tensed with a stretch. They relaxed to their gentle churning after a few moments, and the hugging pressure returned. “Don’t go nowhere…”
“Don’t worry, I won’t,” Chris rolled her eyes, closing them as she settled herself. “Good night, Jake.”
Jake had never been so relieved to see a tail of blue, black, and yellow flitting around before today. He hunkered down, squinting to study his target. A cleaner wrasse. It had to be. The little mer was faced away from him, occupied by some sort of plant he couldn’t see. She’d been in the same area for some time now, but had strayed further and further from a small coral cluster he assumed was her home. Frankly, he didn’t care much if it was her home or not. He’d reach it before she did, anyway.
Slowly, the mako shark pushed himself off the sandy floor and approached the wrasse. The wrasse continued facing away. Jake was a little surprised it hasn’t noticed him yet. Most small fish would instantly flee from a shark, especially one of his size. He swam a little closer, now about arm’s length away, and shifted so he blocked the coral from view.
“Whatcha got there?”
The wrasse jolted, whipping to face him as she batted away a mess of brown hair. Her eyes widened, and Jake grinned
“Uh-“ the wrasse seemed to shrink into herself, though made no move to flee. “It’s…a medicine,” she offered a clump of something green. Jake glanced over it with a raised brow.
“What, you some kinda…healer?”
She shook her head. “No…not yet, but…I’d like to be…” Her gaze flickered to where he’d settled, clearly calculating if she could evade him or not. “I’m just…collecting herbs for now, and I want to put them away…” her eyes shifted to his. “You’re blocking my house.”
Jake glanced over his shoulder, then back to her. He smirked. “So I am~. An’ I’ll move, but I’s gotta have some help first.”
“And…you want my help…?”
He nodded. “Yep. Yer one’ve those cleaner fishes, right?”
A hesitant nod.
“Well, I gots somethin’ wrong with one of my teeths. So, how’s abouts you help my tooth, an’ I’ll move?”

Chris frowned. She looked between the shark and her coral. There’d be no way to evade him. Even with speed on her size, he was *huge*. With one grab he’d have her, and she had no desire to be a snack today. Making him mad by fleeing didn’t seem wise. And he’d cut off her best way to swim to safety. Meaning…the only way around him was to help. Sighing, she placed the weeds she’d collected into her satchel. Either way, she’d have to try.
“Sure, I can help…but…” she frowned. “How…do I know you won’t eat me…?”
The shark grinned, flashing a face full of fangs half her size. She shrank back, stomach writhing like a pack of starving eels.
“Ya don’t~. But, if ya’ dun help me…I’ll be lots more inclined t’do that instead~.” He opened his mouth, then chomped down. His face twinged for a moment before it fell back to a smug smirk. “Don’t gotsa bite somethin’ small as ya’, y’know~.”
Chris wrung her hands. Now he’d really trapped her. Though most of her body screamed to flee, there was a part of her mind that found the opportunity enticing. A shark as a regular client… She could have more exploring space with a shark as an escort. Slowly, she shuffled in her bag. There was enough to make a decent salve…it wouldn’t be her best, but it would be something.
She nodded to herself. “Okay…let me see what I can do.” She swam upwards, hesitating in front of the shark’s face. His red hair swayed idly, almost enticing to hide in had it not been attached to the face grinning back at her.
“Good choice~.” The shark hummed. His jaws parted again, and Chris peered inside. The water around her warmed almost instantly. Pale flesh and yellowed teeth greeted her, with the shark’s tongue flexing slightly. Grimacing, Chris scanned the rows of teeth until she found her prize. Towards the back something was glinting.
There was a rumble that vibrated the living cavern before it fell still again. Chris rolled her shoulders and slowly swam inside. The shark’s mouth was warm, warmer than the waters outside, and there was a thickness to it as her gills flexed anxiously. Just get the piece and get out…
It wasn’t long before Chris found herself beside the tooth in question. Lodged between a pair was something small and shiny. It looked almost like a shell by the way it glittered, but it had a different shape. The size was large, around Chris’ head. It looked…human. Frowning, the wrasse placed her hands on it. She blinked, pulled her hands back. Probably should give a warning if she didn’t want bitten in two. “I’m gonna try and pull this out! Keep holding still!”
Another, louder hum resonated around her. Chris twisted her body to get a good grip on the strange thing. While she was partially laying on the shark’s tongue, she had a better reach. Chris winced as the shark’s tongue flicked beneath her. Once it settled, she reached forwards to grasp the object. Her hands slid for a moment until she found a good grip. Though large, gripping the foreign object was no easy task.
After a few moments of searching, she found her grasp and pulled. There was a moment of stillness. It wasn’t budging. Chris stopped, taking a moment to stretch her arms. It had been some time since she’d had to use this much force on a foreign object. After a moment, she placed her hands on the object again.
She pulled, tail throashing back and forth as she grunted with the effort. Then, all at once, POP! The piece flew out from between the shark’s teeth, and Chris was flung backwards. She bumped into something squishy and soft. The wrasse grinned, turning the object over. “Can I keep this? It’s really-!”
Before she could finish the request, the world went dark. Chris yelped. Something warm brushed against her, and pushed her upwards into something harder. The shark hummed again, the droning sound like a whale’s song. Chris curled into herself as much as she could until the room stilled. For a moment, she hoped the shark would let her out. But, instead, everything tightened. Chris whined, tail thrashing, but the only way to move was forwards. Downwards. And downwards she went as everything flexed, and with a horrible squelch, she was pushed back and into the shark’s throat.
She desperately clung to the strange object as she passed through the shark’s chest. The walls tugged her along, almost like swimming through a pitch black corral passage, if the passage was moving for her. The noises were overwhelming. A steady, deep pounding noise, and the noise of water gurgling and swishing around. Just as soon as it started, the tightness ended as she was squeezed out and into a much more open space. Chris hugged the object as she took in some water and wrinkled her nose.
The water was thicker now, thicker than it had been in his mouth. Chris swam downwards, still holding onto the trinket. Her tail flopped in behind her, and the mermaid tried to peer into the gurgling darkness. She’d just been eaten. Alive. Her stomach coiled.
“There. Won’t lose it in there~.”
Chris flinched as the walls trembled with the shake’s voice. It was deeper now, louder too. Chris shrank back, ears pinned.
“You ate me!”
A low, rumbling sound. A laugh?
“Yeah, I’m a shark. ‘S kinda what we do. Anyway, yer the wrasse out here unarmed. Ain’t never met a wrasse that didn’t carry no means of defendin’ themself…”
Chris frowned. “I don’t like using weapons against sharks…” she swam forwards slightly, only to bump into something solid and hard. She grimaced, rubbing her head. “You’re just…being a shark at the end of the day…that’s like someone getting mad at me for cleaning a mouth.”
For a moment, the shark was quiet.
“Well…still. Ya gotsa be ready fer someone t'come after you. ‘S dumb not t’carry somethin’ to keep safe.”
“I guess…” holding the trinket with one arm, she stuck her other arm out to feel around. Eventually, she touched something soft, and eased herself down atop it. The stomach wall churned slowly, rolling against her side as she curled around her bag. “Y’know, you’re the first shark I’ve cleaned in a while…”
Another, drawn out silence.
“…Surprisin’ considerin’ how willing ya’ were t’help me. Ya’ didn’ even try t’bolt..”
“I mean, there was no point. You’re bigger, stronger, faster than me. I wouldn’t be able to squirm inside my coral before you’d have me…not to mention, you could tear my place down, and where does that leave me?”
~~
Jake frowned. She had a point, he could. Yet she’d been so willing to help him, a shark, no questions asked. She wasn’t even mad that he’d eaten her. Just…sad. He frowned and poked his middle. The little wrasse was so small, she didn’t even made an outline. “Well…either way, yer weird fer not bein more upset. Should…I dunno, squirm, fight, somethin-“
“Not much point,” the mermaid answered. Jakes ears flicked as the muffled voice continued. “What good would all that do me, other than wear me out? You’re a shark. I can’t compete against you.”
Once again, she was right. And she was complimenting his strength. Jake tilted his head. Weirdest little snack he’d ever seen…but it didn’t matter now. He ate her. And now…he had her. “Yeah, ya’ cant’s,” Jake agreed as he settled himself on the ocean floor. “If it makes ya’ feel better, yer doin’ a great job keepn’ th’hunger aways.”
It was quiet for a bit. Jake almost worried she’d ip and died. Not that he cared, but after a moment, he felt a flit of movement.
“That’s…good for something, I bet. Hunting this time of year must be hard…”
Jake frowned. And now she cared about his eating habits…? What was with this cleaner?! He poked his middle again. “Y’know yer barely even a snack t’me…I’ll be hungry again in a bit.”
“Yeah, but I’m easy picking,” came the simple reply.
He balked. What kind of tiny mer didn’t react more when someone ate them?! Indignant, he pushed down against his stomach. “An’ yanno things don’t usually come back outta stomachs, right?”
There was a pause. A longer silence than before, followed by a quiet: “…Yes. And I know you’re a shark. You’re just…doing what sharks do. So I can’t really be…mad at you, like I said before.”
Jake rubbed his face. Why the hell was she being so…nice?! He glared down at his stomach, wishing he could will himself to get it over with…but he couldn’t. Only because if he ended it now, he’d be hungry again soon after. It wasn’t because he felt…strange. No, it wasn’t that.
“Well…settle in. Yer not goin’ anywhere fer a while.” He mumbled, crossing his arms over his chest. A nap sounded like a perfect way to pass the time…and definitely not avoid the decision he had to make.
“…Okay.”
He frowned as he looked over his stomach. Cleaner fish were hard to find…harder, too, to find one this relaxed. It would be better keeping her around. Yes, it wasn’t the rising twisting in his stomach. It wasn’t the niceties. It was easier for him to keep her around. Definitely. With a sigh Jake closed his eyes, and draped his hands over his middle. He’d figure it out when he woke up.
I do believe that vore is not inherently sexual. However I also believe that people that DO see vore or enjoy it sexually are not wrong or gross or invalid. And in fact we do need to respect the fact that the term vore was created by those who enjoy it in a sexual way.
and for those that are uncomfortable with the idea that vore can be sexual? You will not be able to control it. There is nothing you can do to stop people from enjoying vore content sexually, regardless of the circumstances or your dni. and it is not your responsibility to care nor is it their responsibility to stop seeing it as sexual.
In the end it really doesn't matter. sexuality is a natural thing and in a public space like the internet, you're likely gonna encounter others that are openly sexual. And they are not wrong for that.
As someone who enjoys vore non-sexually, no more of this puritanical bullshit please. It helps nobody and only works to further tear the community apart. If you are bothered by others seeing vore as sexual, look away, block them, get offline. That's it.
And like I say this as someone that likes vore both ways. It can be hot, but it can also just be me anatomy nerding. Or I have a funny idea or I wanna draw some horror. So DNIs usually just confuse me because I’m not sure whether it’s just seeing their stuff sexually that’s objectionable, or they just blanket hate anyone who’s posted X-rated stuff. (End of the day I just block them though. They’re not worth it.)
That said it is pretty weird to be using terms/labels/words from a kink community, posting to that kink community, trying to gain a following in that kink community, and then getting mad because a number of people in that community like it sexually. Like you either need to learn discomfort tolerance, or you should stop posting kink stuff in a public space (online). Because it doesn’t matter if you don’t see that thing sexually, you cannot control other people’s perceptions, and like…you’re using kink words. C’mon now.
Also if your drawing vore but your DNI sounds like abridged Mastercard rules regarding nsfw you might want to sit down and reconsider your stances. If you’re one step away from clutching your pearls over a tiddy on someone else’s blog, you might be one of the baddies.
