"what the f-" izzie cut herself off before she swore, but needless to say, she'd never experienced anything like this before. she'd heard of a lot of weird goings on in dc lately, but had pretty much written them off as nothing. this, however, was not something she could write off as nothing. even if she didn't know who her father was, izzie was pretty sure even paternity couldn't explain someone looking almost identical to her. "sorry, uh, this is insane. you're seeing what i'm seeing, right?"

"it can happen. it's awful, but maybe eventually she'll get her memories back. i guess i understand you wanting to keep your distance. but i know that's a hard thing to do too."

being in dc was proving to be harder than emily had anticipated it would be. it hardly felt like a fresh start, when all she could think about was her kids not being there and her lack of a job – working at coach had been embarrassing enough, but now she was really struggling. she was not, however, the type who would admit to such a thing. "i think my stress has stress at this point," she muttered, only half-addressing the nearest person. "what exactly do people do to relax around here?" not that she was good at actually relaxing, but she could at least try.
