Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game
I’ll be honest, I have not read Gerald’s Game by Stephen King, but I have seen the movie. By the description of the movie I almost passed. I can’t remember if I watched it on Netflix or Amazon, but I only did because it had King’s name on it. The description made it sound like it was some humdrum drama or boring romance that one would see on Lifetime or the Hallmark channel.
I was grossed out and pleasantly surprised when the good stuff started happening like the dog starting to eat the man’s corpse. That was pretty gross and perfect for the movie.
Unlike his many others, the bad guy was not an alien. I wasn’t disappointed about that, but I wasn’t pleased that it wasn’t something supernatural either. I was kind of hoping it would have been a real fairy tale come true instead of some deformed crazy guy.
Either way, the part where she slips her hand out of the handcuff made my skin crawl and that is what horror movies are all about. If you have succeeded in doing this, then your story has made my day. Most stories don’t, but that scene made me shiver in pain. That was good.
