On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."

As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.

As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.

My family seems to have anticipated that if an odyssey movie is coming out that I’m gonna make sure that we’re going to see it in theatres no matter what so it seems likely that I’m gonna see it tomorrow.

Any movie trying to adapt something that big and important into a movie is going to fail miserably somehow given the limitations of the medium so I’m excited to see exactly what type of bad it is.

I wrote about ten different versions of this comic. Sorry if it’s a bit disjointed. I just want to reiterate how disappointing this news is. I thought we were fighting against this during the TAG contract negotiations. I guess everyone has a price.

EDIT: Jorge Gutiérrez has dropped out of the GenAI creator's fund and will not be making his show through it. I still don't understand why he signed on initially, especially when he was so critical of AI's impact on the industry in the past, but this is a good step forward.

I still think his sex comment is weird.
