WAIT i've said this to friends before but i need to put this prediction out there on the public record. on everyone's souls: alastor will be retconned as gray-aro or his aromanticism will be removed entirely so radio/apple can happen. thank you for your attention
WHAT DID I SAY
the interesting thing about pairings like blitz/stolas or husk/angel (and lucifer/lilith, but that one isn't related to the main idea of this post) is that they are clearly meant to evoke the same effect as your classic roger and jessica rabbit. your gomez and morticia. but these series are so reliant on the classic tropes that define the ways those pairings have persisted in pop culture (not necessarily how they are presented in their source texts) that they inevitably settle into a heterosexualized, "fanonized" version of the characters. the roger/blitz/husk serves as the more active narrative agent, the complex masculine figure, the top, while the jessica/stolas/angel falls into the category of the vector through which the hero completes his arc, the feminine goalpost that represents the hero's achieved goodness, the bottom.
niffty would have been a spirk housewife had she been given the chance
okay well i guess i need to write a post about how alastor's character is being totally wasted
alastor could be removed from the show entirely and nothing would change. i don't just mean this in terms of plot either i mean that he brings nothing to the table in terms of themes or the point of the narrative
okay well i guess i need to write a post about how alastor's character is being totally wasted
i still can’t draw alastor’s hair
AND ANOTHER THING it's fucked up that there's a giant hole in the fabric of the show where the relationship between alastor and charlie should be (all due to shipcourse ofc)
fighting the "write a fic to fix vox's character" demon inside me so hard
you know it's funny. i'm a man who can very much appreciate a character who is driven by a single-minded homoerotic competitive obsession but there needs to be something behind it or else it falls flat. send vox to the school of vegeta
we could've had cherri/molly but no.

i'm remembering my really old theory about how stolas was going to choose octavia over blitz after enough character development happened for blitz that he'd finally open up his heart to stolas and make himself emotionally available. and it's amazing how we ended up not only with stolas experiencing almost no push-and-pull between those two forces in his life before it went one way or the other (y'know. like some kind of internal conflict.) but we also never even found out what it is that blitz likes about stolas in the first place
like it's one thing to try to make the audience love stolas and there's a reason he remains the fan favorite among people who still watch and enjoy the show. but the things you can learn from a character based on what they are attracted to in others, the sorts of people they would willing have a relationship with (be it serious or casual)... those are things the audience should know about a protagonist whose whole deal is intimacy issues. am i crazy for saying that.
