I'm pansexual, and I use any/all pronouns.

Posting my AO3 work 'The Start of an Unwanted Forever' on here

I quietly sat by the window, pulling the robe tight around myself as I studied the stars. I looked back down at my book, an old, carefully preserved copy of 'The Illiad', detailing the heroes took Death's gentle hand, when someone suddenly grabbed me from behind.

Vlad.

He pulled me to his chest, and bit into my neck without warning, causing me to gasp in pain.

"V-Vlad, what-" I stuttered, turning to look at him. His eyes were blood red.

The kind of red that meant they went too long without feeding and succumbed to bloodlust.

He was going to drain me dry.

I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to stay calm as I became dizzy, and eventually lost consciousness, smiling to myself.

I awoke with the irony taste of blood in my mouth, and opened my eyes to see Vlad holding me, forcing his bleeding wrist to my mouth. I immediately started coughing, trying to force the blood out.

"What did you do!?" I yelled, scrambling away from him, and tried to breathe.

Nothing.

No.

NO.

Vlad grabbed my wrists, pulling me back to him.

"I was not going to let death take you, little bird." He said, so calmly, so casually.

"Y-you turned me into a monster!" I yelled, tears welling up in my eyes.

"I saved your life." He said, his eyes darkening.

"WELL MAYBE I WANTED TO DIE!" I screamed, pushing him away.

Vlad was pushed back a little.

No no no no no nononononononononoNO!

I curled up into a ball, crying.

"I didn't want this." I whispered. Vlad moved closer to me, taking my face into his hands and forcing me to look up.

"You are mine, Kael." He whispered, then leaned in, kissing me. I pulled away, shaking my head.

"J-just get out." I whispered, squeezing my eyes shut, knowing he wouldn't listen.

There was silence, and then I heard the mattress creak, and the sound of the door opening.

"I'll... send a thrall up with some blood. Animal or human?" He quietly said, though I could still hear him.

"No." I muttered.

He sighed.

"Animal, then." He said, then I heard the door close. I lied down on my bed, and grabbed a pillow, burying my face into it, and started sobbing.

so today a public health official guy came into my class to give a lecture on disaster awareness and he was talking about house fires and mentioned that the reason people most likely die during a house fire is because they refuse to leave their pet inside or they go back to get their pet. and right when he said this my friend immediately turned his head and looked at me and in that moment I had the most complete and genuine acceptance take over my body. I would 100% in front of my family and Jesus himself walk straight back into some raging inferno that was once my house to go get my fat cat. I nodded back

the best part of this post is reading all the tags from animal people who would also go back to save their pets. like no hesitation. walk backwards from heaven straight back into hell. someone even said they would go back for their fish. amazing

If you are a person who would walk into a blazing inferno for your animal, and your pet has free movement around the house, here’s a training exercise that could help save you both:

1) Set off your smoke alarm or play the sound on your phone (if your home has no smoke alarms, pease get some!)

2) stand BY THE FRONT DOOR to hand out treats

Do this a couple times and then keep it up NO EXCEPTIONS. Accidentally set the alarm off cooking? Treats by the door. Smoke alarm sound on TV? Treats by the door. Changing your smoke alarm batteries twice a year like you’re supposed to? Give them a test run and your pets get treats by the door.

Most dogs and cats will clue in VERY quickly that hearing that specific sound means go to the front door and wait for treats.

If there’s an emergency and even if you leave by another way, you will still know the most likely place your pet(s) is and can direct first responders to help.

You can also do this for any other kind of emergency alarm. My friend had both her cats trained to go to the front door for a tsunami siren.

Just got back from vacation.

And, on one day of vacation, I discovered I'm not all sunshine and rainbows.

Apparently all it takes is being stuck in the back of the car for over four hours with my two younger cousins, who argued and talked and fought the entire time, causing me to become overstimulated, to release my inner bitch.

I snapped at them a few times.
