time to spill the beans! i’m so pleased to announce that i am the current artist in residence at the ground floor theatre! i’ll be working there during april, may, and june. in june i’ll release the piece as a result of my work there. i love the ground floor theatre and all the things they do, and so i'm very honored! the piece i am developing all of the sudden endep up being pretty ambitious, and it has taken already a lot of work, love, thought, and special collaborations. this time and under covid circumstances, i talked to three dear friends here in austin, colleagues and fellow artists, and invited them to offer us some of their latest poetry. my job has been to thread that all and offer my own unusual experimental side to it, so get ready to see me do some movement, singing, and experimenting with the video art and video performance format. additionally, i also asked my dearest friend an incredible performance artists from bogotá paola correa to collaborate in this piece. we will be recording soon! can't wait to show you all! this is my piece commissioned by @genderunbound!! _____________________ “Cerdi’s Dream” by Siri Gurudev One piece, unframed. 20 x 30 inch (h x w) Digital Art on Paper Artist Statement: As a trans-non-binary brown artist from Colombia, my work explores creative ways to connect with my ancestry to re-imagine what colonization erased for us at the same time I try to foresee a future where queerness can exist alongside other sides of my self in harmonious non-violent and open ways. When I reflect on ‘home’ during the pandemic and self-isolation, I imagined a landscape of faces from the people who helped me survive. And then there is this dog that found me and brought me to a whole adventure. I fabulate that I’m a dream of hers produce by a magical intervention of my first dog that I had when I was very young in Bogotá.
