Over the past few months of living in the same town as his blue alternate, the optimistic winged skeleton known as Cyprus, with very limited exposure to the town itself due to personal choice and not being a very sociable person, Sirius has managed to form only a small handful of agreeable relationships with humans on the surface. One of which was Cyprus’s long-time friend, ‘Em’, who lived in the suite upstairs from his alternate’s small apartment.
The two of them often took turns cooking dinner together; and they almost always extended an invitation to him, despite his prickly nature.
Nine times out of ten, he would say no.
Five times out of ten, Cyprus would eventually convince him to come over, usually by bribing him to join them for Sirius’s favorite dish; Lasagna, or something else that he’d found he enjoyed enough to order in on occasion.
(Like Spicy food.) (Or Sushi.)
Every now and then, Em’ could tempt him over with the promise of spicy dark-chocolate drizzled popcorn balls and a ‘good’ scary movie, where they would criticize the special effects throughout it, and point out the terrible clichés.
He could even admit to himself on occasion that he’d had fun on those days.
And yet.
There were still times where any interaction was too much interaction.
Days when the forests around their town beckoned him, and he forayed out into the wilderness, taking camping gear with him. On those trips, he would often hunt for his food, and enjoy the sounds of nature, enjoy the sight of stars that weren’t half obscured by the orange glow of city lights. A nice clearing in the dense trees to camp in were often what he needed to put his soul at ease.
Even more so in the winter, when the gentle snowfall, the crunch underfoot, and the dark bark would remind him of walks in Snowdin so long ago.
It was oddly...nostalgic.
And today is one of those days where he feels like submerging himself in those old memories, and enjoying the challenge of traipsing through heavy snow, hearing that satisfying crunch of the crusted snow under his boots. So he packs up his gear, laces up his hiking boots, and after a brief text to Cyprus, (and Em, after some hesitation), Sirius makes his way out of the city.
Its time for some Sirius quality time with nature.
