Apple iPhones may soon be able to wirelessly charge AirPods and other devices

Apple iPhone reverse wireless charging features have been in the works for quite a long time now. The feature was rumoured to debut with the iPhone 11 series, but it has been more than three years and there has still been no word from the tech giant about reverse wireless charging capability. However, a new report by 9to5Mac suggests that we may see reverse wireless charging technology in the upcoming iPhone models since Apple has started work on the feature.

What is reverse wireless charging feature?

As the name suggests, the feature allows the Apple iPhone to wirelessly charge other devices and accessories. With this feature, the back panel of an Apple iPhone will function as a wireless charging pad, capable of charging AirPods or an Apple Watch using the power stored in the phone's battery. Users will be able to charge their Apple gadgets while on the go with this.

Users will also be able to charge multiple Apple devices at the same time using this feature. With this capability, a user can use wired fast charging for the iPhone while the phone's battery powers the other product via wireless charging.

The feature has been scrapped multiple times in the past, and it will come as no surprise if it is scrapped again, as per 9to5Mac. Since the launch of the Apple iPhone 14 series, we have heard various rumours about the Apple iPhone 15 series, but none of them mention this feature.

Apple iPhone prices in India are likely to fall as the government announces tax breaks for manufacturers

The Apple iPhone will most likely become cheaper in India, as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced a reduction in customs duty on the import of certain smartphone parts and inputs.“To further deepen domestic value addition in manufacture of mobile phones, I propose to provide relief in customs duty on import of certain parts and inputs like camera lens and continue the concessional duty on lithium-ion cells for batteries for another year.” Sitharaman said in her speech while presenting the Union Budget 2023-24.

This means that Apple iPhones made in India may become more affordable in the coming fiscal year.

Until now, the custom duty on camera lenses and their inputs/parts for use in the manufacture of camera modules for cellular phones was 2.5%, and there will be custom duty on the same in the coming year.

Apple is rapidly increasing iPhone production in India, and if reports are correct, India may soon overtake China as the world's largest Apple iPhone manufacturer.

Apple also began manufacturing the flagship Apple iPhone 14 models in India a few months ago. Apple iPhone production in India began in 2017 with the release of the Apple iPhone SE 2.

In India, the tech giant currently manufactures the iPhone SE, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14.
