USGA Pinehurst, Visitor Center and Hall of Fame
Pinehurst, NC, 2024
This project reimagines the visitor experience at the USGA Pinehurst complex, combining environmental graphics, exhibition design, and wayfinding to create a cohesive and engaging journey. The design highlights the rich history of golf while guiding visitors intuitively through the Hall of Fame and Visitor Center. By integrating immersive graphics, interactive displays, and clear signage, the project enhances storytelling, celebrates heritage, and ensures accessibility for all guests.

GAME ON! Science, Sports & Play
California Science Center, Los Angeles
GAME ON! Science, Sports & Play is an interactive exhibition at the California Science Center that invites visitors to explore the science behind their favorite sports, games, and physical activities. From testing reaction time and coordination to experimenting with equipment design and game strategy, guests engage hands-on with concepts in physics, biology, and technology, learning how the body and mind work together through play.
As Design Director, I led the creative vision and visual design for the entire experience. The graphic system combines bold typography, playful iconography, and kinetic motion graphics to reflect the energy, movement, and excitement of sports. Color, scale, and environmental graphics were thoughtfully used to organize space, guide flow, and create a high-impact, inclusive environment that speaks to visitors of all ages. GAME ON! transforms scientific exploration into an engaging, accessible, and joyful experience—where learning feels like play and design drives discovery.

Stream
Video Installation, Siyang Li, Chicago, 2017
Media: webcam, receipt printer and thermal paper.
As you know, artists create artworks in the studios, the audience views the artworks in galleries. For me, the progress is like a “one-way” factory assembly line. Li’s interactive installation, Stream, tries to break the boundary amount the artist, audience, and gallery. He does not make a “complete” art piece, but create a rule and turn the audience to be one of “creators”.
In the interactive installation, Stream, a camera captures the motion of the viewers, and then print fragments of the images onto receipt paper. In traditional Chinese art and literature, mountains and water [高山流水, gao shan liu shui] are highly favored symbols of the flow of human energy. Here, Li replaced nature’s elements with modern devices of technology, and the printed images on the long receipt paper represents the waterfall-like kinetic energy. The transmission between the camera and the printer thus become the energy stream between nature and humans. It not only runs the camera and printer, but also is transformed by them.

New Chinese Contemporary Landscape
Zhou B Art Center, Chicago, 2017
Curator: Mo Chen & Siyang Li
Artist: Mo Chen, Yewen Dong, Qigu Jiang, Yi Kong, Siyang Li, and Liao Liao
Zhou B Art Center gladly presents “新山水 New Chinese Contemporary Landscape”, a group exhibition curated by Mo Chen and Siyang Li that features several Chinese artists whose works take on the subject of landscape “山水” (“Shan Shui”, literally means “mountain and water”) in a variety of mediums.
Human and nature are one. The mood of mountains and water is also reflected in the human spirit. Thus Landscape Painting (山水 画) is regarded as the highest form of Chinese Ink Painting (水墨画). By depicting imaginary/observational scenes of “mountain” and “water”, it represents a symbolic space for the Chinese literati spirit to reside.
The innovation of New Chinese Contemporary Landscape is to treat the subject as a cultural concept associated with historical and humanity and to treat the form as a symbol instead of stereotyping it with traditional medium specificity. Then we can reinterpret the Chinese Landscape with an international aesthetic by thinking about the subject in the contemporary age.
