im so glad i found these articles and papers on red vs blueâs impact, especially during the BGC era because while i always knew that RVB was iconic and and revolutionary as a new storytelling medium, i didnât understand just HOW revolutionary it was. now im no longer begging my friends to watch a gamer show please god it gets really good, now i am expertly recommending them a revolutionary piece of anti-war media that is a successor to the 1950s theater of the absurd movement that has been compared to M*A*S*H and waiting for godot, which was played at film festivals and written about in the New York Times, and they should be thanking me
this is all true, of course. i would never lie to you.
hereâs the new york times article, which is long. hereâs a pastebin of the wallstreet journal article (2004), which i forced my friend to give me access to through her university despite her hating RVB. it is short but itâs the one that says RVB is as sophisticated as samuel beckett.
hereâs where you can read one of the academic articles for free, and hereâs another where you can sign up if you make an account, which is one click if you sign in through google.
credit to @riathedreamer for telling me about the two articles and also writing a university paper on RVB because sheâs a genius
because yes, I am that big a nerd, hereâs some other sources Iâve worked with that either briefly mention rvb or discusses machinima as a phenomenon. Just in case you guys are also nerds. But the two articles mentioned above as the biggest in-depth analyses of the show.
