For everything that happened in 2017, gratefulness is all I can feel, both in my personal life and my fandom life. This year has been one hell of a ride, but that's what will make 2017 truly unforgettable for me.
1. I reached my 20th year of living and survived to become a 3rd year college student (I had a sense of giving up when I was in my 2nd semester in 2nd year, but hey I got through it). Nothing bad happened to my family and we are complete and happy.
2. I found new friends and maintained great relationships with my older friends. I have never been happier to have friends such as mine.
3. Super Junior stayed together despite the difficulties, and even if some members cannot be in front of me (such as my dear bias who's currently in the army, I miss him terribly), the fact that they are still together after all these years and that I felt their brotherhood grow stronger is enough for me. Proud as I am of their accomplishments in the industry, their bond is what I'm really thankful for, and their dedication for fans like me just touched me so much in 2017.
4. Taylor overcame her trial and put out an amazing album this year, but what I'm most thankful for is her happiness and that she's doing what she wants in life.
5. Nu'est, my dear loves, who I've ached for in the past 3 years since stanning them, are finally making their long held dreams come true (even if it pains me that they are separated). I'm thankful for all they've accomplished after finishing Produce 101- getting their first music show win and first #1 on music charts, selling thousands of albums, and even receiving awards- but the things I'm most thankful for are that they're receiving so much love nowadays from so many people (I'll forever thank these new ㄴㅇㅅㅌs for loving them) and that they stayed together, supported each other, and endured the challenges they faced together. I'm pretty sure they'll stay the same way in the future as well, so waiting for my ot5 hurts less now.
6. Despite the sadness of seeing my top two oshis in Nogizaka graduate from the group in 2017 (seriously, my top two graduating and even retiring from the entertainment industry in the same year hit me really hard), I am thankful for being able to witness Nanami and Himeka in the brightest moments of their career as idols. And with Nogi in the rise in 2017, I am really thankful people have started paying more attention to them.
7. My favorite idols (both old and new) had a pretty rough but amazing year and I'm just thankful for all the love they've received. Hoping 2018 will all be an even better year for them.
Overall, I am just thankful that my loved ones are safe and sound, probably a little unhealthy from all that they've been doing, but there is a sense of happiness that I can feel from them. And for me, that compensates for all the difficulties they went through the year and all the challenges I also faced in 2017.
My 20th year of living has been unexpectedly harsh but also incredibly life-changing. I went through some tough times in the past year, but that's what made me have hope for 2018.
