No seriously I want to know which religion or which denomination it is. Cuz let me tell you, having been raised Catholic, asexual people are treated like saints. They might not actually use the word “asexual” but people who remain celibate are considered to be models of “purity” and “chastity”. Heck, it isn’t unheard of for two (het) people to get married and never have sex and treat each other as “brothers and sisters in Christ”. the thing about a lot of mogai identities is that they tend to ignore (or normalize) behaviors that might not be normal to the person involved…when I was like 13 I ID’d as autochorissexual because I was attracted to girls but the thought of having sex scared me, and at the time I was happy to have a label to normalize that, but looking back, a lot of it stemmed from my anxiety and dysphoria, ie, not wanting girls to see my body or being afraid that I wouldn’t be able to “perform” or whatever. Being able to normalize my fears through a mogai identity felt good, but it halted progress I could have made in accepting my body, figuring out my gender, and gaining confidence. While some aro/ace-spec identities might be helpful for some people, for a lot of trans and SGA kids they do a lot in preventing them from confronting the underlying reason behind their fear of sex/intimacy

Unpopular opinion on this hell site: there is no situation in which you need to post that you like incest/pedophilia online ever. Not in ships, not in kinks, nothing. Okay so… this was a HUGE debate in the anti community for a while, I’ve not had an anti blog for as long as most antis so this was by far the most vicious and anger inducing discourse i’ve ever seen.

i’ll split this up into two different things for each character

Garnet:

I do not think it’s at all okay for people to tell others they can’t headcanon her as a lesbian, It IS racist and here is why:

Garnet is a black nonbinary woman who is stoic and quiet (pre-fusion reveal) and she has recently become more open and loving, and in almost every piece of media with a black main character, there is always a huge debate on shipping them with people because of aroace headcanons. (finn: star wars, michonne: the walking dead, etc)

white fans often force characters of color into these aroace headcanons so that they can ship mainly white ships, or characters that can be interpreted as white if someone wanted to. 

And then white people scream from the hills: WHAT ABOUT AROACE POC HUH??? WHAT ABOUT THEIR REPRESENTATION???

when I have never heard poc force these headcanons down people’s throats?

What about poc lesbians that have to watch people like them get brutally killed off in almsot everything they appear in??? And if they aren’t killed then they get some sort of tragic story??? (tara twd, poussey: orange is the new black)

Yeah they don’t care about them. They care about characters of color “getting in the way” of their white/white coded ships.

Also, garnet is a HUGE symbol of lesbian love and empowerment, I, along with many other young lesbians, have become so much more comfortable with our identities. After Jailbreak aired and garnet, already my favorite character that had inspired me, was revealed to be literally made of lesbian love, I became so inspired that I came out to my friends and people at school as a lesbian and i’ve been so much more comfortable and happy ever since.

Lesbian aligned garnet is a huge thing for me, and thousands of other young girls who were/still are scared of being openly sapphic.

and as for “three’s a crowd”: Not looking for a relationship doesn’t make someone aroace?? Especially in this case where it was a woman rejecting a man like??? nice lesbophobia @people thinking this is the one true sign of her being aroace

Papyrus:I have never been comfortable with this discourse. The first thing I was iffy about was the whole “oh look a character that acts childlike let’s headcanon him as aroace because obvs he’s too innocent for romance/sex”.

Papyrus went on a date with frisk and then let them know that he doesn’t feel romantic attraction to them

I use “date” loosely because he literally just gave them spaghetti and wore a weird outfit.

He did what adults are supposed to do if they suspect a child has a crush on them. He let them down easily and explained why that couldn’t happen.

His most popular ship is with a male character, who I must mention is coded as a trans man. And while I don’t agree with how this ship somehow became more popular than the canon sapphic ship (alphyne), It isn’t erasure, there is no such thing as too much same gender couple representation in ANYTHING.  There are gay boys who want to See themselves in a main character just as much as there are sapphic ladies who see themselves in undyne/alphys.

(also a lot of people who are anti papyton because of the ace discourse seem to love making mettaton out to be a sexual predator out to attack papyrus which is transphobic as fuck and overall disgusting)

to break it all down:

can you headcanon him as aroace? absolutely

should you jump all over people for shipping him with males??? No, it’s homophobic and using the “he didn’t feel attracted to a child” argument will never stop being gross and problematic
