its kind of hard to progress when the lead singer leaves every few years but yea i get where you're coming even though i strongly disagree with you because they are one of my favorite bands

See, that’s what it always comes down to when I ask people this. “I’m not totally sure why, but I just love them because I do.”I am a very objective thinker, I tend to try and see the bigger picture at any given time. It’s weird to me that people just like things without a definitive reason.To give an example, some of my favorite bands of all time? I like them for distinct reasons. I happen to think Upstanding Youth is one of the greatest ska bands of our time. Why is that? Look at their instrumental work and how well it syncs with their lyrical work.It's kind of the same reason that I can't listen to Streetlight Manifesto. I like Tomas Kalnoky and think the guy writes great lyrics, but I just can't stand to hear them screamed in front of horns. It was a really good move on his part to start recording acoustically.

The Descendents are one of the original pop punk bands plus Bill Stevenson is probably one of the top 5 best punk drummers of all time playing with The Descendnets and Black Flag

If they’ve been around longer, it would stand to reason that their sound would have progressed. It never did. I’ve heard people argue that this is deliberate, but what kind of musician doesn’t want to grow?Being the best punk drummer seems insignificant considering how small the pool is. Being an amazing metal drummer is a feat because there are a LOT of metal bands, but there's barely a handful of notable punk bands remaining.

Can somebody explain to me the fascination with The Descendents?

I don't get it. They've always just sounded, at least to me, like a strictly less polished version of The Bouncing Souls.
