Duration: Concentration, up to 8 hours
You animate the shadow of a humanoid creature you can see within range, causing it to appear in an unoccupied space within 5 feet of the target.
The animated shadow disappears when it drops to 0 hit points or when the spell ends. Until this occurs, the target does not cast a shadow.
The animated shadow is an ally to you and your companions. In combat, the shadow shares the targets initiative count, but it takes its turn immediately after theirs. It obeys your verbal commands (no action required by you). If you don't issue any, it takes whatever action the target takes (or uses its multiattack if the target casts a spell), it prioritizes killing the target with its attacks, and uses its move to remain near the target. If the target is dead, the shadow takes the Dodge action and uses its move to avoid danger. The shadow will not harm you or your companions, even if they are the target of the spell, unless you command it to.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, use the higher level wherever the spell's level appears in the stat block.
