Not gay as in happy Queer as in fuck you! :: Wondering Wanderer, Lonesome Hermit, Selective Recluse, Idealist Realist :: adult :: occasionally reblog nsfw but always tagged as nsfw or nsfwish
reminder that indigenous queer folks do not need to fit your colonial definitions or conceptions of queerness in order to be valid, worthy, and spectacular.
if your concept of what a lesbian looks like requires that all lesbians have shaved or short hair, then youāre excluding ntv lesbians who honour our ancestors by growing our hair long.
iām no less of a butch for having hair that goes down to my tailbone. iām no less of a butch for wearing my hair in a braid. iām also still butch when i wear beaded earrings, a ribbon skirt, and moccasins.
if your idea of queerness is tied to whiteness, thatās just a shame. indigeneity and queerness go together like inhaling and exhaling. one cannot exist without the other.
Also, regardless of your feelings on human nature or anything, I think that a world where children can go to school without fearing being bombed from an ocean away is a world worth aspiring to and worth fighting for. Okay we might never abolish war because the inherent human nature or whatever mighty idealism you have. We could at least try to stop these wars, though?
Longtime readers may be aware of how much I relish an excuse to bully a company, so I'm sharing the wealth;
Clothing company Patagonia is currently sueing drag queen Pattie Gonia for "irreparableā harm to their brand.
To be clear; Pattie named herself after the region in South America.
So Pattie is asking people to politely ask Patagonia to drop the lawsuit.
I'm extending the invitation to all of you, because sueing a drag queen for 'infringement' in the current political cultural landscape is vile.
Especially a drag queen who has raised millions of dollars for non-profits, uses her platform to raise awareness for climate activism, and fully aligns with Patagonia's apparent climate-conscious mission statement.
They're claiming they're sueing for $1. They're actually asking her to stop using her name, and pay over $1 million in legal fees. They're straight up harassing her.
In contrast, drag queen Jan Sport has a Jansport bag line. It's that easy to just... work with a queen.
Anyway. Be respectful(ish), but feel free to be annoying on Patagnoia's socials, asking them to 'DROP THE LAWSUIT'
Hey, so, I know I have a lot of non-horsey followers who may not know about horse biomechanics. Which means I have an opportunity to teach.
If you ever see a horse wearing these padded 'shoes' (called stacks) on its feet, you are looking at an abused horse
Stacks are used in a riding discipline called padded performance, or more commonly known as big lick. In this discipline, the goal is to create as big and flashy of a walk as possible.
To get a big flashy walk, big lick trainers put weights on the horse's front feet (to make it lift the legs higher) and use action chains, which smack against the ankles every time the horse moves (making it lift the legs faster to try and escape from the painful chains). Though it's technically illegal, many trainers also use soring, where they rub mustard oil or kerosene onto the horse's ankles (to cause pain so it has a stronger reaction to the action chains). Soring is widely accepted in padded performance, and trainers will apply chemical irritants to their horses at shows, out in the open for everyone to see.
Horses naturally carry 60% of their body weight on the front legs. When the front legs are sore, they'll carry more weight on their hind legs, which causes rapid joint degeneration. It's not unheard of for retired big lick horses to have completely deformed hind legs
There is no ethical way to do padded performance. Big lick riders will talk about how stacks don't cause issues (often citing one study that looked at padded horses slowly walking on a treadmill without rider), how soring is illegal, how hard-working their farriers are, how closely they work with veterinarians, how their horses live like kings, how beloved their horses are, etc., but it's all talk.
If you see a horse with stacks, you are looking at an abused horse.
I'll add a few relevant videos under the cut (from least to most graphic)
Adding on that stacks are used not just in big lick with Tennessee Walkers but also in a less extreme but still damaging form in other disciplines and breeds. There are stacked/padded Saddlebreds, Arabians, Morgans, Hackney, etc. You'll see people within those disciplines arguing that it's less extreme than big lick and therefore, not detrimental to the horse but still causes changes to the gait and natural structure of the legs.
"Pretty Pretty Please I Don't Want to be a Magical Girl" Bios!
NAME: Aika (she/her)
AGE: 15
VA: Anairis QuiƱones
ROLE: Main Protagonist
BIO:
Aika is an easily excitable and energetic girl. She's generally optimistic and very friendly. She's always eager to try new things as long as it's not her fulltime job of being a magical girl.
As soon as her magical girl duties are brought into the picture, her demeanor changes. She checks out, and often looks for the quickest solution to solve the issue. No flashy transformations and special moves here. She's good with a metal baseball bat or a rocket launcher.
All Aika wants is to live a normal life, make friends and go to school. Unfortunately, like every main protagonist, trouble manages to follow her wherever she goes.

NAME: Zira (she/they)
AGE: 16
VA: Bennett Abara
ROLE: Love Interest Best Friend
BIO:
Zira is everything Aika wants to be. Painfully average, under the radar and a self proclaimed loser.
She's a smart girl but has a hard time applying herself. Instead of paying attention in school, Zira usually has her head in the clouds and would much rather be reading her favorite magical girl manga, "Moon Sailor".
After Aika forces her friendship upon them, Zira now has to tag along on all of Aika's escapades and experience new things. Ew.
However, they admire Aika deeply and admire her even more after Aika's magical secret comes to light.
Hoshi is one of many star scouts sent out into the universe to find the next Star Guardian. Theyāre the one who chose Aika and got promoted to the sought after title of āmagical mascot.ā
Much like Aika, at first, Hoshi was always very chipper and happy to do their work and fulfill their purpose. However, with Aika losing interest, Hoshiās mood has also been brought down. Theyāre a bit more sarcastic these days and although they push Aika to do her job (which she begged for by the way) they try to cut Aika some slack by allowing her to use her weird human weapons. Anything to keep her going, right?
They come off as overbearing, but they do want the best for Aika.

NAME: Eclipse (he/him)
AGE: 15
VA: Aleks Le
ROLE: Minor Antagonist
BIO:
Eclipse is a flamboyant and theatrical guy whose showmanship is out of this world. He refers to himself as "Eclipse: Servant of Darkness".
He was a nuisance that Aika and her team would have to deal with on occasion and normally try to ignore him. Eclipse has deluded himself into thinking that he's Aika's rival and love interest. In his head, their love is simply forbidden as he's chosen the path of darkness and her, the light.
Prior to the beginning of the series, he had no powers, but now he does??? Where did those come from? It's as if he's made a deal with darkness itselfā¦

NAME: Lady DeVoid (she/her)
AGE: Old
VA: Shara Kirby
ROLE: Main Antagonist
BIO:
Lady DeVoid is darkness itself. She's a mysterious being with an incomprehensible amount of power. Power that is currently weakened and that she can't seem to remember how to use for some reasonā¦
All she recalls is that a long time ago she was defeated and banished by a Star Guardian and that she now wants revenge. While unable to use her diminished powers, she finds that she can pass them on to her new lackey, Eclipse.
He's not able to use them much better than her right now but it saves her the embarrassment and itās better than nothing!
With his help, she hopes to destroy the Star Guardian once and for all.

NAME: Miss (she/her)
AGE: 39
VA: Michele Knotz
ROLE: Side Character
BIO:
Miss is Aika and Zira's very tired teacher.
Looking at her, you might assume she hates her job, but it's quite the opposite. She pours everything into her work and into her students, leaving very little time for her personal life.
She's recently started trying to get it together (after her ex-wife left her) but is still struggling to find that work-life balance.
Prior to Aika enrolling, Miss was Zira's only friend at school and, though she'd never admit it, Zira's probably the closest thing Miss has to a friend also (oof). She's subsequently become a secret Moon Sailor fan, too.
As a queer gnc Aboriginal person, this week is for me and my people. Everyone has to give money to their nearest LGBTQIA+ Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person this week. I don't make the rules, I just raise awareness of them š¤·
āsupporting neil gaiman isnāt as bad as supporting jk rowling because he isnāt using his money to hurt trans people and he doesnāt seem bigoted!ā is a real take iāve seen and i am going to blow a gasket. āhe doesnāt seem bigotedā He raped and trafficked women. Paying for his works and engaging in fandom for them is giving him money and good publicity that he uses to curry good favor with the masses and silence his victims in ongoing legal battles. You are enabling a rapist and abuser.
just because he is not funding legislature to harm victims of sexual assault and trafficking en masse does not mean that there is no one harmed by him gaining publicity and money. show some compassion to the women he has hurt and disengage with his works. ājust piratingā and ājust writing/reading fanficā is still engaging, especially if you are posting publicly about them. move on.
