IM SO HAPPY I CAN FINALLY CONTRIBUTE ART TO THE INITIAL D FANDOM.

I’m still in shock that I was able to draw this. I never thought I’d see the day where I’m uploading artwork onto Tumblr. Hell, when I bought my iPad in November and downloaded procreate, I never thought I’d make something upload worthy. I was really struggling and thought to myself “Well…I’m not going to be an artist, but at least I have an iPad now”. But I’ve been practicing and I’m so glad that I kept up with it. And I’m even happier that my first piece I’m sharing is Takeshi because he’s the reason I wanted to get into drawing!

I’m so glad I finished this just in time for Valentine’s Day. I wanted to do something special for him. There’s so many reasons why I love his character and grown so attached to him, but I think one of the biggest reasons is that he’s the definition of don’t give up, keep trying. I just find him so endearing. Initial D and specifically Takeshi have made such a positive impact on my life/mental health. I swear he’s my muse…I haven’t been this creative in forever. I want to make a plushie and a cross stitch pattern of him in the future too haha.

There's no shame in finding comfort in your f/o, in believing they would love you to bits in pieces, in imagining yourself with them. I'm not gonna ""normalize"" selfshipping or imagining myself with characters I love, because it is normal. It is self expression. There's something so inherently free about looking at a character, you/your brain deciding they're someone you love and taking the time to truly appreciate them, and then embracing the idea that they could and would love you too.

I was given the courage to post about my deaf Nobu headcanons after seeing Twi post about their most recent sickfic!

I created this headcanon like a month or so ago and it's stuck with me ever since, I just really like it!

Some ramblings about the headcanon under the cut!

First thing I want to preface is that I based a lot of this off my experience with my grandma, who has been hard of hearing since she in her late teens. So I have some experience but it likely won't be universal. I am also not hard of hearing or deaf, so this is only secondhand experience.

The hearing aids that I gave Nobu look a little different from the common hearing aid. He has cochlear implants, which act on a different mechanism to improve hearing. It is actually really cool how they work if anyone wants to know lol. But he did originally have traditional hearing aids, but when he turned 18 he got the cochlear implants.

And in that last panel, he is using JSL! I think that his parents would have him learn it even if his hearing aids were able to help him communicate and hear. It gives him another avenue of communication and I think he would appreciate being able to communicate non verbally.

Nobuhiko lays curled up on the bed, the blankets pulled up to his face. All Ryousuke can make out is messy curls against the pillow. Ryousuke sits on the other side of the bed and reaches over to pull the blanket away from Nobuhiko's face. He cups Nobuhiko's cheek, running his thumb along the faint blush staining his skin.

His cheek is warm against Ryousuke's hand.

Nobuhiko opens his eyes into a squint, shifting to meet Ryousuke's gaze. "Ryo?"

Ryousuke brushes some of Nobuhiko's bangs out of his eyes. "You feel like you have a fever, love."
