Watching the Grammys last night was truly depressing and upsetting. The only rock band that played on stage was U2. It’s like the Grammys and other award shows have stopped recognizing rock artists. Rap/hip-hop/R&B is the most listened to genre in America according to Nielsen Music but does that mean we stop acknowledging rock music? Rock is still alive and well. That’s why I posted Green Day’s performance at the Grammys yesterday, their performance was truly iconic and sadly rare for the Grammy stage. We get it, rap dominates the charts but there are thousands of bands still trying to make it big and are out there touring making great music and albums. Rock is a true art form, bands don’t rely on auto-tune, they just have their instruments and voices. Green Day and other bands like them are so important more than ever. We need them to continue making music to keep rock n’ roll alive. Here’s to all the bands out there still doing their thing performing with their blood, sweat and tears!
