maybe it’s just me but? does anyone else feel that oftentimes girls have been pressured into pursuing stem careers rather than being encouraged to consider it because I’ve always felt like it was my only option and it was decided for me by everyone else and that anything outside of it was “conforming to stereotypes” (and i KNOW that’s not true lmfao but) like I’ve gone to three different all girls engineering day camps/programs in the past when i was pretty young and listened to a lot of lectures and I know they were meant to be empowering but to me it felt like a threat that if i didn’t meet their standards i wouldn’t be able to be successful as a girl and it fucked me up.. like yes being a woman in stem is amazing and has its share of challenges but it’s not the only way to succeed? I understand the push for it but in My experience it just made me feel really inadequate.. can’t believe it’s really taken so many years for me to realize this
