Eli’s moved away from Undertale fandom and into the Transformers fandom side of Tumblr. Fun fact: They told me not to send any NSFW Sans audio specifically to them because they have this weird dislike for him even though I pretty much embody him completely in being lazy, chubby, and tend cover up all my pain with jOEK

But just because Eli and I aren’t active in the same fandom doesn’t mean we don’t talk or click anymore. We both still like each other’s things, just not as much as the other does.

Mononucleosis isn’t constricting my hands, bruh.

The lymph nodes in my neck were the size of plums only a few days ago, so the only audio you’d have got would be a strangled gasp and string of phlem-y coughing.

Any tips for someone who wants to give voice acting a try or someone who is just starting out?

I gave a small bit of advice about this recently, but to not sound terribly redundant, I’ll try and offer some other, more detailed tips!

(Under the cut so people don’t get spammed with a wall of advice)

If you are just picking voice acting up, do NOT buy a $100-$300 mic. Some people will do just that, try voice acting, and then find they either aren’t as into it as they thought they would be or don’t like doing it in general. Start small. Use your laptop mic or buy a crappy Logitech mic like I did as a kid. The quality won’t be the best, but you can still hear yourself and learn not only how to improve your range, but also how to edit in programs like Audacity.

You don’t need the program Adobe Audition to make your audios sound amazing. I have the whole Adobe creative suite due to my graphic design background, but I strictly use Audacity to edit all my audios. It’s what I grew up knowing, it’s free, and it’s less of a headache to figure out.

NOISE REDUCTION IS A MUST TO LEARN. When you record, it is inevitable you are going to get some kind of background noise(Unless you somehow have access to a professional, small studio room with padding everywhere). Even the slightest brush of air or distant hum is going to hit your mic while you’re recording. There are easy guides online to teach you more about it and how to use in whatever audio editing program you choose.

Do you get a weird echo in your recordings? You may be in a room that’s too big, causing your voice to travel and hit off the walls. If possible, try and find a smaller room to record in to avoid that. Otherwise you’ll sound like you’re talking across the room from your listeners, not in front of them.

Before recording, do not drink milk, soda, pickle juice, cold water, or hot beverages. Room temperature water is ideal so that your vocal chords aren’t too phlegm-y, restricted, or too relaxed when performing… Unless your secret to a certain voice is chugging pickle juice to sound like a horrible phlegm monster, that is.

Warm up before performing! There’s lots of exercises online for voice actors/singers that not only help with the whole warming up part, but it’s also strengthening your voice over time! Lots of professional voice actors/singers have sternums of steel because they have amazing breath control from doing them daily. I’d highly recommend it!

And finally, remember that this is something you’re going to have to keep working at if you want to improve. Just as with drawing, biking, or anything else, you have to work hard and persevere if you truly wanna see results! I stopped voice acting at 16 and I regret it because when I went back into it again at 19, I felt I wasn’t as good as I should have been. But I’ve done it so much since then, I feel tons more confident now with my performances and quality than ever before! And you can only improve more!

Eli and I met through this very blog, actually! Undertail fontcest brought us together even though apparently, according to them, they liked the thought of ME doing the sexy voice, not Sans or Papyrus.(Which is sweet af and I believe them since they’re brutally honest. Like they bashed my old Papyrus voice AFTER we got engaged that tRAITOR thoughIagreetotally)

But yes, they have a couple favs! One is my ‘Starscream’ voice, which I’m thinking of altering a little for Fell!Papyrus if I get around to him. But the one Eli REALLY “likes”… is my ‘Fell Sans’ voice. When I go deep, raspy and Brooklyn af. They get mad when I use it on them because it revs their engine and they’re tsundere like hella but we both know the truth. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

A couple people have asked me about my SFW voice blog, so I guess I’ll plug it here and now. I mean, I plan on posting any future SFW commissions on there anyways, so I figure this post makes sense. Plus, to the person who was curious about my older stuff, there’s a few Undertale audios on there from when the game just came out and I had to use my laptop mic since my old pro one blew out. Also me using my ‘old’ voice urgh.

Are you still into undertale/tail? Or did you move on past that. I understand if you did. I'm just glad that your back.

Truth be told, I first started voice acting NSFW when I made this blog, just to see if I could do it. I centered it around Undertale/fontcest because hey, that’s what I’m into! I really didn’t expect people to like what I did. I just enjoy putting things out there so people CAN enjoy it. Once people flocked to my blog asking for more undertail, I was like, “Oh, well I guess I’ll be focusing on this for a while now since people like it so much!” It was nice to see my work was making people happy!

But tbh, I’m not THAT into voice acting NSFW(in my free time). It’s fun to do here and there but it’s like eating too much of something: you need to eat something else at some point because it’s getting tiresome eating only hotdogs for 3 months straight. That doesn’t mean I’m NOT into undertail/Undertale! I very much still am! But I want you guys to know that you can throw anything my way. It doesn’t strictly have to be NSFW fontcest.

I do have a SFW voice acting blog I made WAY over 2 years ago and barely touched, but nobody is really on there and I really love this community.

have you made anything since youve been gone ?

Voice acting-wise where I sat myself down and recorded something? Not really. I mean I still did funny voices in my day to day life, especially since my voice started to crack to practice and experiment, but my passion to voice act never dwindled. I missed it a lot, actually.

More recently though, I decided to stop sitting on my dreams and actually develop them so… I’m making an indie game right now. I just started it last month so there’s not too much I’ve actually created but I have the combat/layout/story/(most)characters laid out so that’s progress! It’s pretty much just me making it with help here and there from irl friends so it’ll be… a long time for it to become a reality, but it’s a dream and I WILL make it come true. Even if it takes 7+ years.
