a/n: just a short little thing because i really need jaafar to be on tiktok like yesterday!
you had been begging jaafar to make a tiktok account for months now. jaafar always refused, saying you always showed him funny videos so why did he need to make his own account? you argued that it would be easier to send him videos if he downloaded the app for himself. you also told him it was another way to connect with supporters and show a little more of his personality. he finally agreed to make a tiktok, but only after you refused to show him the videos you were laughing at late at night. you had told him one night that he could see them once you sent them to him on his own accout. he also made you promise to teach him how to use the app. so, the two of you spent almost an hour creating his account, following his friends/family, and curating somewhat of an algorithim for him.
"how are people gonna know it's actually me? it isn't verified yet," jaafar said, frowning a bit as he read a text from his brother asking about the new account.
"wait! you can make your first video introducing yourself and saying this is your official tiktok account." and that's how you ended up setting up your tripod and helping him record a video. the two of you decided to make it funny because jaafar was painfully awkward in the first take of introducing himself.
you set up the timer and stood in front of him. once the timer counted down you spoke up. "hi everyone. this is my fiance jaafar. he is new to tiktok and a little old so you better be nice to him!" you said, crossing your arms over your chest and stepping to the side so jaafar was in full view of the camera. and sure, it may have taken 3 takes, but jaafar finally said, "hi everyone. jaafar here. this is my new official tiktok account. uh, i'm not sure what i'm doing or what to post but stay tuned," paired with an awkward smile and thumbs up.
"finally!" you said after you ended the video. "you just played the biggest star in the world in a two hour film, but couldn't remember 3 lines introducing yourself to tiktok."
"i'm doing my best," jaafar pouted, watching over your shoulder as you edited the video and posted it to his account. it took no time for him to gain followers. over the next few days jaafar got comfortable navigating the app. this was evident through the 20+ dms you would get from him. it was then that you realized you had created a tiktok monster.

you were standing in the ensuite of your bedroom, quietly applying your skincare before bed. jaafar was sprawled out on your shared bed scrolling on his phone. you heard the telltale sign of him scrolling through his tiktok's for you page, the audio changing every few seconds. you didn't think much about it until megan thee stallion's 'where them girls at' started playing on a loop. now, your curiousity was getting the best of you. you could only imagine what video was attached to that audio. you placed your toner down on the counter and walked towards the bedroom.

jaafar looked up at you brieftly before his eyes went back to his phone. "you've gotta come watch this," he said motioning for you to come join him on the bed. you pushed off of the doorframe before resting your knees on the bed beside his torso. jaafar angled his phone towards you. and oh. you were very familiar with the clips playing on the video. it was a compilation of him behind the scens and during press for michael.
"trust me, i've seen plenty of those thirst traps," you said, leaning your head against his shoulders.
"no but the comments--," jaafar laughed. "look, this one says 'i wonder if his fiance can fight.' that's crazy." jaafar continued reading the comments.
"yeah, so crazy," you murmered letting out a fake laugh and grabbing the phone out of his hands. "hey!"
you ignored him, scrolling back up to the comment. you smiled to yourself as you began typing: @/user1: She can, and she's also missing a few screws so tread lightly.
you exited out of the app and gave jaafar back his phone. you and jaafar were winding down for the night in bed. you were propped up against the headboard reading a few chapters of your book while jaafar sat next to you, one hand rubbing softly against your thigh. jaafar had his phone in hand, tiktok open of course. he had one airpod in as to not disturb your reading, yet somehow he still managed to do so. every once in a while you would hear him let out a laugh under his breath. and then that progressed to his shoulders shaking up and down while he tried to hold in his laughter. you side-eyed him and glanced at his phone wondering what was so funny. you shook your head as you read the caption of another "prank calling my mom from jail" video. a few minutes later, jaafar laughed out loud. the sudden noise caused you to jump slightly. your eyes narrowed as you looked over at him, tears threatening to spill over the corner of his eye. he continued to laugh, reaching up to wipe at his eye.
"jaafar!" you whined after reading the same paragraph 3 times due to his distraction. "whatever you're watching cannot be that funny."
"i'm sorry, i'm sorry," his laughter broke up his sentence. "these parents are trying to get their kids prepared for bullies at school and the comments are absolutely flaming them." you rolled your eyes. you were very familiar with those viral videos that were weeks old. "look watch this one," jaafar said as he moved to take his airpod out so you could hear. of course it was the one video of the little boy in the yellow shirt, defending his dreads and his sister. you let out a small laugh because the video was funny, but it was funnier when you saw it weeks ago.
"babe, literally the whole internet saw that video weeks ago," you said picking your book back up. "it was really funny though."
"hey, you're the one who wanted me to get a tiktok. now you have to deal with it," he said pointedly. you rolled your eyes, muttering a small "whatever," before returning to your book. popping his airpod back in, jaafar was quiet for about 5 minutes before he began to laugh again. you looked over at him, catching his eye before he clamped his mouth shut. he continued laughing, having to close his phone to try and compose himself.
"alright mr. giggleshit, let me see it," you said closing your book and angling your body towards his. "and it better be funny this time." jaafar pulled his airpod out once again, the volume of the tiktok playing through the room. he wrapped an arm around you pulling you into his side. you spent the next half hour scrolling through his for you page with him.

lately jaafar had gotten more into making tiktoks on his own page, with the help of his social media manager of course. most of his posts were short travel vlogs with you or behind the scenes clips with the michael cast. there were a few cute trends with the two of you that were set to 'friends only.'
jaafar was in between production meetings while you had the day off at home. you knew his day wasn't as busy as usual, so you weren't surprised to see a notification from tiktok pop up on your phone.

"oh god," you mumbled, not even wanting to begin to think of what he could possibly be planning. it was all in good fun though, you were happy that he was finally showing some of his personality. maybe next you could convince him to do an entire day in my life. wishful thinking.

The obvious pink moisturizer smell filled the room and remnants of broken rubber bands spread across the floor. “She’s gonna kill me.” He muttered under his breath, standing from the couch.
A large thud hit the ground along with multiple cracking sounds from the bobos scattering across the room. He accidentally knocked over the large clear bucket filled with hair accessories and the evidence was everywhere.
He tossed his head back with a groan, feeling a headache incoming. He shook his head, deciding to deal with the mess later. He walked into the kitchen, lightly massaging the bridge of his nose to try and calm his nerves.
“Hurry! I can’t reach it.” He heard the child call out from behind the kitchen counter. Padding over to her, he noticed her on her tippy toes, fingers grasping the marble counter while her other hand reached towards the front in an attempt to brush against the plate of cookies.
The thing about making cookies every week with a child is they don't tend to last long. Jaafar grabbed two cookie from the tray and handed it to her. “Thank you.” She smiled, and turning to munch on a cookie.
“Let’s go finish your hair.” He sighed, guiding her back to the living room by her shoulders. Once he cleaned up the mess and she was sat contently between his legs, he began once again.
He used the rat tail from in an attempt to part the thick hair. He would’ve thought it would be easy to manage after all that moisturizer but he may have forgot to detangle it.
He placed his hands on her head, swiveling it around to see if the part was straight. The constant movement made her giggle, “what are you doing?” She asked finishing the last bite of her cookie.
“My best, baby, I’m doing my best.” He sighed. It was a bit crooked but hey, who’s going to be looking that hard?
He wrapped a pink bobo around a section and the roots were all puffy. Oh crap he forgot to brush it. He unwrapped it and grabbed the hard brush, and proceeded to slick the section of hair. All in all he brushed her forehead as well.
“Heyyy, my head.” She whined. Before Jaafar could respond he heard keys in the front door, the familiar jangle made his eyes widen. He looked at the disastrous style, the pink moisturizer that fell onto the carpet, and the little girl who had crumbs all over her dress.
You’re gonna kill him.
“Honey, I’m homeeee.” You called out once you stepped inside, hands filled with shopping bags and shades still on your face. Your heels clacked against the tile as you walked towards the living room.
After a long day of shopping you couldn’t wait to see your husband and daughter. Walking into the living room, you stopped in your tracks, mouth dropping open.
Jaafar had an awkward smile on his face, scratching the nape of his neck while your daughter’s hair sat like a cloud around her head.
Popped rubber bands lied on the carpet and the smell of moisturizer hit your nostrils and you noticed the pink bottle squeezed to death.
“Baby…what happened?” You said forcing a smile on your face. You all had a company dinner to attend in a few hours and clearly nothing was prepared.
“It was a lot of work, okay?” Jaafar groaned leaning back onto the couch with a sigh. You shook your head and set the bags on the ground. You kicked your heels off along with your shades, preparing yourself for the lesson you were about to give.
“Mommy, I got cookies.” Your daughter smiled, crumbs scattered around her mouth. “I can tell sweetie, it’s all over you.” You sighed. You took a seat next to Jaafar, and grabbed the detangling brush, rubber bands, comb, bobos, and a hard brush.
“Here, I’ll walk you through it.” You told him. “I can’t take this no more.” He whined. Clearly you see where your daughter got her attitude from. “Come on, we have to get ready.” You nudged him.
He finally locked in, resting his elbows on his knees to see what to do. “One thing I do know is you’re gonna buy some more damn moisturizer.”
“Mommy, bad word.” Your daughter said lightly tapping your knee. “You right, I’m sorry, princess.” You told her. “How much moisturizer did you put in her head?” You asked him.
He blinked at you, and you realized not a thought was behind his eyes. “Nevermind, here gently brush section by section, start from the tips and go up.” You told him, handing him the detangling brush.
He held a section of her kinky hair in his palms and followed your instructions. He assumed he was doing it right since he heard no complaints. After he managed to brush out each section, his daughter hair seemed poofier. “You got all this from your daddy.” He laughed.
“Oh boo.” You rolled your eyes and lightly pushed him to the side. “Now part it, one down the middle and one across.” You told him handing him the rat tail comb.
“How do I know if it’s even?”
“Place it on the tip of her nose.” You told him.
He shrugged and placed the metal against his daughter’s nose making her giggle. He slowly formed an invisible straight line till he got to her hairline and watched her hair separate.
Soon he had a straight clean line down the middle, showing her clean scalp. He did the same thing starting from one ear to the other. “What we thinking?” He asked, opening his arms for you to get a better view.
You leaned in, checking for any hiccups but he actually did good. “You can do a lil something.” You nodded. “Now gel.” You said, reaching into the hair bucket and grabbing it.
“I didn’t even consider gel.” He said, clenching his teeth. “Well clearly.” You rolled your eyes teasingly. You opened the jar and showed him the green jelly like substance.
“Take some and put it on the roots and brush it into a ponytail of each section.” He nodded and followed instructions.
It felt like he was watching magic as the kinky curls smoothed out with every drag of the brush. “Good, now rubber bands.”
He tied it into a slick ponytail and repeated it with the other three sections. “It’s looking so good.” You smiled and your daughter did a shake of her head causing you and Jaafar to laugh.
“Okay I’ll braid this side, you do the other.” You told him. Your fingers moved fluidly throughout the hair, braiding it neatly till it reached the end and securing it with the rubber band.
You looked at Jaafar’s just to see him stuck on the base. “I….look.” You grabbed his hands and taught him how to braid properly. “So this goes under here, and then this piece?” He asked copying you.
You nodded, “exactly.” Jaafar is actually pretty talented with a bit of guidance. You both did the final pieces until she had cute braids hanging from her head.
“Which color bobos?” You asked her. She tapped her chin looking at the bucket full of multicolored Bobos. “Let’s do pink.”
You and Jaafar both got out the pink bobos and worked to tie them to base of the braids making sure they were tightened properly. “Beads, or no?” You asked her.
You weren’t even sure why you asked. “BEADS!” She yelled. “Of course.” Jaafar muttered shaking his head. The clacking from her beads irritated him to the extreme but she looks adorable with them, so he sucks it up.
You put beads at the end, making sure to teach Jaafar as well. Finally, her hair was done and neat. “Never put me on hair duty again.” He groaned.
“But look at the result.” You pouted. She stood up and did a 360 showing off her hairstyle. Jaafar couldn’t fight his smile seeing his lovely daughter that had the perfect resemblance of his and your faces.
“Fine, if I absolutely have to I’ll do it.” He said, not admitting that he secretly enjoyed doing her hair and loved the result.
“Alright, everyone come on let’s get ready.” You said clapping encouraging them to get a move on.
“Now you have to help me with my hair.” You smiled to Jaafar.
