A simple way to add a sense of lighting and depth to your artwork:
• Multiply for shadows, using the ambient color to keep them integrated with the scene. • Linear Dodge (Add) for highlights and light sources to create bright, luminous areas. • Soft Light for subtle subsurface scattering, helping light feel as though it's passing through the material. • (Optional) Add a blurred copy of your piece on top for a softer, dreamier atmosphere.
These aren't strict rules. Just a quick workflow that can help establish believable lighting while keeping the process simple.
