I remade this fanart art piece of Johnny Abbot with one of the hybrid children at an abandoned arcade.
I’ve realised that the first version of this piece is confusing, since we are looking at them from inside of the game screen.
In this revised drawing I added the game that they are playing, making it clear to the viewer what they are looking at. I’ve decided to portray one of my favourite childhood games, the ‘Space invaders’. 😘
The colour scheme I selected for this piece is, naturally, the fluorescent arcade lights. I placed the warmer colours in the living characters, and the cold artificial hues of blue on the game (space invaders) on screen. The cold white and blue cuts through the screen, grabbing the viewer’s attention and guiding the eyes towards the target. The blue light is also more vibrant, as it originates from the screen.
