I have discovered Skin Deep yesterday, I've just finished Illumination and uhm I just want to thank you for writing this? It's an awesome story.

I like in particular how you write all these young people being upset and grumpy with world-changing secrets upending their lives. It's a recurring motif and...

...and it's so easy to condemn them for this, you know? It almost felt like the story wanted me reader to resent them for not being graceful enough, because that's how all the stories go, always. Not even just in fantasy stories; it feels like a general rule. So it was almost shocking when Skin Deep wasn't doing any of this and circled back to grumpiness with apologies.

It's a powerful thing to see teenagers' grumpy whining transformed into an universal reasonable reaction to feeling unsafe, losing established sense of self, getting new and new information shoveled onto, having to adjust everything about their lives down to smallest details, and on top of it all having it downplayed by their environment.

It's also weirdly satisfying to see respected elders of community find themselves in the same circumstances and reacting with same grumpy upset, and the main difference is that an elder can precisely name their discomfort and confront the downplaying enlightener about it.

Thank you for creating this story and sharing it!!! There's so many awesome thing about story, and world, and characters, and narrative! But in particular, validating the typical reaction to overload, this is the first time i've seen any story do it. I had no idea i need a story do it. Thank you so much for that.

I've got an amazing readership but sometimes it's easy to feel like I'm tossing content into the void and hoping it's being enjoyed, so messages like this really make my day. Is Michelle currently in Midform or Human form? I can't make out her wings, but her features look really leonine.

Loving the current story arc btw! Great to see Michelle and Greg interacting again.

She's a secret third thing (mostly human but the glowy eyes kinda makes her whole face shape change to be more sphinxy).
