Man, I should've gotten to the rest of PHO Sundays sooner. Wildbow is so goddamn good at fleshing out his worlds, and he somehow always manages to multitask. The regular video game exchange between Aleph and Bet through the Haywire Portal alludes to tinker-made games, along with swipe and punch cards of heroes that have wormed their way into Bet's gaming culture. The Whitelist being an option for unaffiliated single heroes, but with elaboration on all the problems and safeties involved. Cape Fantasy Football following up on what happened to Sphere's project after he got Simurghed while also just being kind of hysterical (immortal cape gets stuck on the moon). The Vispera incident. The reveal that Earth Bet Taylor Swift (Terri Light) was a tinker clone while the real one turned into a NEET, while on the other side of the music scene, fans of Canary hired villains to steal her unreleased songs from the PRT, which since her power still works through recordings means there's now literal music drugs being distributed through the web. All of this taking place during the timeskip, meaning through all these random stories and headlines we're also witnessing the gradual decline of everything as the new endbringers show up and the PRT starts visibly falling apart. Good stuff.

siiigh oh John.... Began my second attempt at reading Pale this summer and have been really invested! I don’t talk about my feelings on wildbow’s webserials on here very often but I’ve just been so totally gripped by the John Stiles & Lucy throughline in this book I have to talk a little about it 😫

arc 13 spoilers & ramblings below

One of my biggest worries my first time reading Pale was that I was soooo very invested in where it was going + the potential for a familiar relationship that it was a little scary to continue. Was worried it would be brushed aside/not focused on (can’t always trust wildbow to focus on the same things I value, alas) and that was too heartbreaking to consider. Luckily (and torturously!!) this was not the case!! Really crazy stuff and really impactful, it’s almost on the level of how I feel about Taylor in Worm where I’ll just cry any time I think too long about it 🥲

I’m crazy enough about it right now that I even made a playlist to be sad to, so for the smattering of Pale fans on here uhhh here’s my super mopey John/Lucy playlist. I am currently insane about them & grieving!!!!!!!
