The Diary of Penny Polendina

Penny 2.0 looks almost identical to the original, and seems to have all her old memories…but eventually it's revealed that she is actually a separate person with a brand-new soul, who simply studied the diary entries left behind by her former self.

Unfortunately, Penny 1.0 is a bit of an unreliable narrator…and 2.0 takes her enthusiastic exaggerations at face value. For instance, she believes that she has a deep, enduring, life-changing friendship with Ruby Rose, and can't wait to jump into it as soon as possible. But later on, she learns that in reality the two are just casual friends, and haven't even spent that much time together yet. And with Ruby clearly still in mourning for 1.0, despite trying her best to be friendly and approachable to 2.0, Penny is left feeling disillusioned and a little betrayed...
