19 year old girl from sweden with Scoliosis. I had Surgery april 3rd, 2012 (T5-L1) and my largest curve was around 50 degrees. In December 2012, I had to do a second surgery to remove my left rod because it caused me pain. Now I can finally feel like myself again, and move on with my life!

They found out that one of my screws Was loose and that the area between T10 and T11 hadn't heal as it should have so they had to redo the spinal fusion over those vertebrae. That explains my pain I had over that area. Now all my screws and rods are out, it feels so good.

My third and hopefully last surgery will be April 16. So excited.

Do you plan on asking if you can keep some of your bits for a memento after they are removed? I have mine from the 1st surgery after my replacement surgery. It's a pretty awesome thing to have around on ones desk, a reminder of things that you've over come. I don't think it can do anything but sit in a jar of mystery pink fluid, but seeing them outside and in the jar just reminds me of the hills I've over come, and yet to face. Iv removed one of my rods and screws last year and I have them in a plasticbag at home. They are so cool! I definately want the rest of the screws too :)

I saw my doctor today after 6 months waiting. Im going to have a third operation, I´m so sad. He is going to take the rest of the screws and my rod out so after that I will live without my hardware. It´s for the best, I know, but I cant help feeling depressed about it. I don´t know if I can handle going through it all again a third time. 3 surgerys, thats a lot.  The surgery is planed for April 2014. 4 months left with my rod and my screws. I´m gonna miss them, how strange it may even sound.

A whole year has passed since my second surgery. Feels like yesterday. I wish I could say that I have no pain, but I can´t.

Can I ask for something? First, Have you ever done any exercise like schroth for scoliosis before surgery? Second, what are you doing any exercise for scoliosis after surgery? thank you very much. regardness.

Hi! I never tried schroth before surgery but I did go to a physiotherapist to get some help with my pain. I did a lot of excercises with him during a year but nothing helped. I have not been doing excercises after surgery, but I will when I find the time for it. Thank you
