The evil child trope being used on Sam pisses me the fuck off because we could have had a pretty good discussion on the emotional abuse and expectations placed on low-empathy/ASPD folk especially since I've heard from people Sam IS Good ASPD rep. We already had very good set up in this single page of Praludium- the implication being Sam's needs as a person have always been talked over and her father especially was demanding: making most of the calls for her lifestyle and career. The men in her life are glad she's so quiet and docile, so glad she'll just play along to their wants from her.

And I'm not saying Sam should have Daddy Issues LMAO, I think This'd be a far interesting exploration of her character than just assuming she was born evil to begin with. Roger need not necessarily be abusive towards her or Viki to have Sam Act Out and Kill Them but Sam was born in 1941, Roger was probably in commission during the war, and much like a real bear cub, only ever got to interact with her mother until Roger returned and he was a complete stranger to her for a few years but he's suddenly acting like she owes Him something? Do I know you? I would have loved more tension between them and how Viki was complicit in his demands of the both of them.

Also an addition: I can't stop thinking about the "Have you thought about dyeing your fur" scene! Again with the headcanon tension between father and daughter: Roger expected Sam to look a lot like Viki but didn't get to see her born until he came home to a baby that looks. Exactly like Him. Except the only thing she inherited from her mother was her eyes. Perhaps he would comment on her hair and how he wished it was blonde or how he wishes her coat was lighter. That must've annoyed her so much and is one of the reasons she jumped ship and became a butch later in life.

Aughh I'm so angry over ROS 3 again and I think they should have approached the idea of a, mind you, neurodivergent (ASPD/Autism/possible? OCD) child in the 40s.
