have you guys ever seen a crocodile with its fingies out
this movie made me sad a lot guys
your strengths are harder to see than your weaknesses because the problems you're good at solving don't appear as problems, because you're so good at handling them before they become problems... unlike the relatively rare problem that becomes a crisis, which demands undue attention. it's sort of like a reverse survivorship bias. the problems that become noticed as problems, the moments where you notice your capacity has a gap, are only the ones that aren't cut off at the pass by your strength and capability, before they become problems. so if all you focus on is problems then all you'll see is your weaknesses. which isn't accurate

What's the word for the fallacy or cognitive blindspot of just kind of forgetting that a cameraman exists? Like, you see a video online and you take it as an unmediated representation of reality and forget that there's someone there recording it? E.g., seeing a video of an ill-tempered child pitching a tantrum over a Christmas present and you leap to thinking that they're just very naughty without remembering that their parent is literally there publicly humiliating them for clicks.
I think that a lot of of our media is just kind of structured around this elision of "the cameraman", broadly defined. Like how many hundreds of hours of footage do they take for reality TV and what makes it into the final cut and why? The editor's not neutral; they're making decisions. What stories make it onto the news? What posts does the algorithm deign to show you? Our lives have never been as mediated as they are now, and yet this mediation is largely invisible.

These days, lots of public libraries have a "library of things" collection where you can check out kitchen appliances or yard tools or toys, and, as a children's library assistant, the most popular library of things item that I handle regularly is a plastic scepter thingy called like "unicorn princess magic wand". And whenever I check it out I make a big show of looking at the little kid and being like "do you solemnly swear to use your unicorn princess magic powers only for good and never for evil?"
And pretty much without fail, the little kid will get the world's most mischievous grin and go "I'm gonna use it for EVIL!!!"
“what is the target audience of this post” what?????? does your diary have a target audience

It's the Royal Academy of Art Young Artist's Summer Show. One of my favourite exhibitions of the year. Like. Not only are the older kids insanely talented, the younger ones' artist statements will just punch you right in the face.

Deadly egg recall
The FDA has upgraded an egg recall issued last month to “Class I,” its highest risk level, as it warns the public that consuming the products could cause “serious adverse health consequences or death.”
The recall of 1,589,577 dozen white-shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs was initially issued by Midwest Poultry Services in late July, which warned they might be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis.
According to the company, the eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas between June 6 and July 3 and have sell-by or best-by dates between July 20 and August 17. The recalled egg cartons have either the code P-1950 or 0840962 and Julian Dates between 157-184.
source: X
Recalled eggs were shipped to foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. Recalled eggs were available to consumers at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana; Brookshire Grocery stores in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and other smaller retail and foodservice outlets in these states plus Mississippi and New Mexico.
Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, and New Mexico are the currently affected states.
