This is happening RIGHT NOW in Hong Kong. It is August, 2019, and they are fighting for their freedom being taken away from the totalitarian government of China.

The government and pro-china supporters are trying to spin the whole story that we are fighting for Hong Kong Independence. Yes we are protesting against the Chinese and Hong Kong government but we are fighting against the Extradition Bills. Our goals have always been the same as beginning:

1. Complete withdrawal of the Extradition Bills

2. Implementation of Dual Universal Suffrage in Hong Kong

3. Retraction of the characterisations of the protest on 12 June 2019 as “riots”

4. Establishment of an independent investigation committee chaired by retired judges to investigate the police’s actions

5. The Department of Justice maintains its political neutrality and not conduct political prosecutions

There were also tourists complaining how we should go protest on streets instead of airport. We TRIED that, we HAVE BEEN protesting on streets, and we got teargased, police beating us, mass arrest. The whole point of taking the protest to airport is to raise international awareness to our situation, less chance of police brutality because we will be under international spotlight, and to affect the ECONOMY, which is the only way that will get OUR government to respond.

Does anyone else with autism get that brain thing where their mental dictionary just randomly decides to become unavailable? And all you're left with is describing the word or saying close approximations until someone says it for you?

In fact this is not quite a mental illness thing. Neurotypicals also experience this. However, the difference is that in those with ADHD, or autism, it occurs much more frequently, and the cause has to do with the brain, not just slipping on words from time to time.

This can be caused by different things, as studies have looked into this.

Here is the definition of aphasia, from Mayo Clinic:

"Aphasia gets in the way of a person's ability to use or understand words. Aphasia does not impair the person's intelligence. People who have aphasia may have difficulty speaking and finding the "right" words to complete their thoughts. They may also have problems understanding conversation, reading and comprehending written words, writing words, and using numbers."

Whereas in neurotypicals, an occasional flump in word usage can be associated with the brain's compartmentalization, in aphasia it is caused by the language parts of the brain being affected by an injury or illness, making understanding, speaking, or both more difficult.

Anomic Aphasia is when the brain cannot remember the name of an object. As the wiki page states, "Anomic aphasia (also known as dysnomia, nominal aphasia, and amnesic aphasia) is a mild, fluent type of aphasia where individuals have word retrieval failures and cannot express the words they want to say (particularly nouns and verbs)." Basically this means they know what the object is, they can identify and describe what it looks like and does, and even draw it or point it out, but cannot put the proper name to it.

Aphasia is typically associated with stroke victims, head injuries or brain tumors, but disorders that affect language, such as autism, can also cause symptoms of aphasia.

I would absolutely not be surprised if ADHD can also result in anomic aphasia, since Broca's Area (a location on the left side of the frontal lobe associated with expression through speech) is in the frontal lobe, the part of the brain most affected by ADHD.

I do have ADHD, but I found I started getting anomic aphasia a lot more regularly as my fibromyalgia symptoms got stronger.

is there a connection between aphasia and trauma (not like head trauma, but like long term trauma i.e abusive childhood) and with the aphasia if there is a connection to trauma is normal that is always but just sometimes or on occasion and it is not always just things but sometimes just vocab words that you know you know but you can’t remember for some reason like is a hole all of sudden in your memory but it also feels like it is on the tip of your tongue

or would that be something else?  

or like what was mentioned above with forgetting names even right you were told them even if it has been multiple times is there a term for that and if there is in my case is there is a connection with trauma

I had a conversation with a friend the other day during which, after it came up that I only eat at kosher restaurants, she said that she hopes I don’t think less of her for being “a bad Jew”. And I just hate that whole idea so much. 

So, if anyone out there needs to hear this today: you are not a bad Jew. 

You don’t keep kosher or Shabbat? You’re not a bad Jew.

You can’t read Hebrew and don’t know what to do during the Amidah? You’re not a bad Jew.

You only celebrate Hanukkah and haven’t been inside a synagogue in years? You’re not a bad Jew.

You don’t know any brachot and can’t even remember the last time you prayed? You’re not a bad Jew.

You can still learn and take on mitzvot, if that’s something you want in your life. And if you don’t want any of that? That’s okay, too. You’re still not a bad Jew.

We’re a self-deprecating people. I know. I’m right there with you. But this one kills me. Wipe those words out of your mouth and stop tearing yourself down for all the things you never learned or don’t do. No matter what the reason is. It doesn’t matter.

He’s protesting the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) in Mauna Kea! Say the name of the location and who’s trying to set up the TMT!

Jason Momoa says he can’t start shooting “Aquaman 2”… because he “got run over by a bulldozer” while protesting construction of a giant telescope on land considered sacred to native Hawaiians.

“Sorry Warner Bros we can’t shoot ‘Aquaman 2,'” he wrote in an Instagram post. “Because Jason got run over by a bulldozer trying to stop the desecration of his native land THIS iS NOT HAPPENING. WE ARE NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS ANYMORE. Enough is enough. Go somewhere else.”

In a followup post, Momoa asked fans to support the protest movement, writing, “During this time, we are trying to unite both kānaka and Hawai’i born peoples alike to protect not only the mauna, but also our way of life and greatest natural resources in Hawaii as a whole.”

Momoa has spent several weeks protesting on the highest point on the state of Hawaii, Mauna Kea, in an effort to stop construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT), a $1.4 billion scientific project underwritten by a group of universities in California and Canada as well as partners in China, India and Japan.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also has been protesting the construction of the telescope last month, he made a surprise visit to the dormant volcano.

I’m sorry, but I’ve gotta rant. The other day I was in New York, and I saw this billboard:

Yep, you’re seeing this right. Autism Speaks. On a billboard with Julia. Sesame Street has joined forces with our “pals” (and by pals I mean enemies that we wouldn’t touch with a ten foot pole) over at Autism Speaks. Julia, a character who has been embraced and loved by the autism community, is now the face of Autism Speaks, an organization that has hurt our community more than it has helped. I am heartbroken. This character has made me, as an autistic person, so happy and gave me hope that autism is starting to become more accepted by society. And although I don’t speak for everyone in the autism community, I know that there are many people who felt the same way. But now that this character is the face of an ableist movement which pushes the idea that autism is a disease in need of a cure, that hope is gone. PLEASE reblog this to get the word out, whether you’re on the autism spectrum or not.

No there’s definitely something wrong with someone’s way of thinking if they can justify killing innocent people, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that they have a mental illness.

Extremist beliefs isn’t a mental illness.

Bigotry isn’t a mental illness.

Entitlement isn’t a mental illness.

Hate isn’t a mental illness.

Having a dysfunctional moral compass isn’t a mental illness.

We need to stop categorizing all these things as some undefinable “mental illness” and start looking at what we do as a society to develop and justify these things to a degree where people use them to justify killing.

Dehumanization is something you Have to look for. If the murderer doesn’t see the person they killed as a person, then mental illness is probably not the main factor there. 

Plenty of people murder women, poc, lgbt people, people of other religions etc. because they don’t see them as people.

Think about genocides - they aren’t perpetrated by big group of people/a government who all got mentally ill together the same way at the same time somehow, they just didn’t consider what they did murder because they didn’t see the victims as people.
