Dr. Wily is just

āNoā¦I canāt say that I have noticed, but then again, I am not Time Man. This sort of thing is not my specialty.ā Elec Man listens to the rest of Wilyās explanation as he draws a hand to his chin, rubbing it as he examine the man. He was different. No longer was he the chaotic man Elec had known, but now he seemed so. Calm. And boring.
āPerhaps something has happened to you as well, Doctor? Who could really say?ā
Elec Man listened to the senile old man continue to prattle on, hardly listening until he heard his final words. A power source?Ā Is that all he was to this man, to this human, this organic?Ā Just a source for poer to be discarded after Wily was done with him? He didnāt think so!
The robot master stretched his arm out and grabbed Dr. Wily by the collar, raising him into the air as he leaned in to talk to him.
āDo you think Iām here for your usage,Ā human?ā
āIām MUCH greater than that! I am not here to serve you!ā
Albertās nonchalance at being lifted off his feet by an angry robot with the approximate energy output of a power plant might seem unjustified in the extreme, but things had finally clicked for him. Elec Man might find being used as a power generator distasteful at times, depending on what he was charging, but he never would react this angrily. Except for so long ago, when everything had all begun. When Wily had stolen the first Robot Masters. Wily had to resist cackling. That was over, he didnāt do that anymore. He would never have the recognition heād always wanted, but he had seen the error of his ways.
āGreater than that? Itās what you were made for, Elec Man. Itās your purpose. And youāve never minded it. This? Isnāt you.ā
It was clear to him, now, that the time distortion had brought Elec Man back to his state when Wily had controlled him. And control him Wily had, even if Elec Man didnāt quite realise it. It is a great fool who would make a superweapon without a way to control it, Wily thought.
āPut me down, Elec Man,ā he commanded, a warning tone entering his voice.
She realized she forgot to turn off her scanners. āGomen..I sometimes forget to deactivate them.ā She deactivated the scans and her eyes returned to normal. āYes I am considered to be a robot or android but my classification is Vocaloid. I was created to be like what you humans call singing idols. My name is Vocaloid 3 Anon.ā She introduced smiling as Wiley thanked her. āAnd you are welcome sir. Is it a human thing to degrade in senses?ā She was curious to learn more about humans. āI was just taking a walk when I came across you..ā She explained.
āNothing to apologise for!ā Albert assured. He pondered her choice of words. Japanese, then? That, or someone with an odd and misplaced affection for their culture, rather like a certain other robot he could name.
āHm. Fascinating. Well, then, i am pleased to meet you, Anon!ā Albert chuckled.Ā āAh, if only some of my own robots were here. I imagine Shade Man would be pleased as punch to meet a fellow robot singer!ā
In answer to Anonās question, Wily fingered the arms of his glasses and said:
āAh, yes, Iām afraid so. Humans donāt live forever, Iām afraid, and our bodies do tend to break down as we grow old. My sight isnāt the only thing thatās going,ā he added, tapping the white plastic hearing aid in his ear.
The 70th icon in your folder is your museās reaction to dropping their ice cream cone.
āDonāt even try it! Now I know you dragged me toā¦wherever this is! Besides, āharmlessā? You?Ā Tell that to when you tried to cause a nuclear winter, you no-good terrorist!!ā
At the mention of the Laws of Robotics, which of course only existed in a reality where proper robots were found, MegaMan rolled his eyes.
āLaws of Robotics? Honestly, stop trying to make things up!ā He trained his aim on him.Ā āNow, put hands on your head! I canāt imagine getting pelted by these rapid-fire wouldnāt leave a mark!ā
āNuclear winter? Me? The errors only get worse!ā
āListen here, you little imbecile! I donāt know whatās wrong with your programming, but know this! I would never do any such thing! I only want the best for my world! I would never do anything of the sort! And I didnāt bring you here, either. Are you such an idiot that you canāt even see that I am as much a victim as-ā
Dr. Wily was cut off by MegaManās threat before he could finish his rant, and, cowering, quickly did as he was told. Admittedly, a BB gun wouldnāt kill him, but damned if it wouldnāt hurt.
āDonāt shoot! Donāt shoot!āĀ
Dear DaVinci! Dr. Wily thought, if Mega Man has become so glitched that he cannot even remember the Laws, then it may well be that nothing can save me! How can I reason with a robot that has lost its mind?
āTch⦠Just our fault for thinking youād ever learn. Even after WWW disbanded, you just canāt let it go, can you?ā
He seems to have ignored the shoddy programming crack, as well as theĀ āThomasā namedrop, a little too absorbed in his own disappointment.
āWellā¦at least that explains pretty much everything. Even how my terminalās been restricted.ā He glares at the old man. āWell, maybe Iāve been reduced to shooting BBs, but Iāll fire every last one of them at YOUĀ if you donāt stand down now!āĀ
āFordās ghost! Itās worse than I thought! What in the name of Teslaās pigeons is aĀ āWWWā? And I canāt imagine many logic errors must you be experiencing to think that I am attacking you right now!ā
He almost launches into a rant about his genius when the comment about his being unable to let go registers, but he remembers that heās supposed to be reformed at the last second.
āBesides, you canāt shoot a harmless old man, can you? The Laws of Robotics forbid it!"
āI thought you turned yourself into the Net Police, Wilyā!ā
āWhat in Einsteinās name are you going on about, Mega Man? Are you malfunctioning? Is Thomasā shoddy programming finally breaking down?"
āHello, mister. Iām looking for a way to return home, but people have been saying there isnāt one. Is that true?ā Elsaās mind and body had regressed to that of a child, but even as an eight year-old, she possessed enough self-restraint not to burst into tears when separated from her parents. Still, her voice sounded thin and uneasy, as any child would be in this situation.
āAh...ā
Albert shook his head, sadly.
āNo, Iām afraid that no one has yet found a way out of here. Even I, in all my brilliance, have had no success. Of course,ā he added, smiling kindly,Ā āI have in recent years come to see that I am not so smart as I would like to think. Perhaps there is yet a way unfound.ā
The old man held out a hand to the child.
āIf your parents arenāt here, then, please, allow this old man to aid you in some way. It would be the least I can do. When was the last time you ate? Do you have anywhere to stay?ā
He almost didnāt recognize him without theā¦hair. Ā Elec Man narrowed his optics at the old man before him, still trying to confirm whether or not it was really him, but once he spoke, it was confirmed. Elec Man scowled as Dr. Wily grabbed his hand, and he looked down at said hands, rather than at Dr. Wily himself.
āā¦.Drā¦.Wily.ā
He spoke slowly, as if he was still trying to put pieces together.
āThe time distortion?ā Elec Man had no idea what he was talking about. If there was anything going on in this city, it hadnāt affected him. He felt better than ever! As Dr. Wily motioned to walk away, Elec Man ripped his hands free and wiped them off on himself, making a quiet disgusted noise as he followed.
This wasnāt the Wily he knew. This wasnāt the easily controllable pawn heād already planned to make work for him to raise his revolution. But for now, heād have to believe Elec Man was in on this, and so he followed.
āCould you, doctor? Iād be moreĀ than glad to assist.ā
āAh,ā Dr. Wily grimaced,Ā āif you havenāt noticed, then I presume you have been. Huge swaths of the population of this city have begun finding themselves sent back and forth along their personal timelines. Some people have gained decades in a day, others find themselves children again. Not only that, but time seems to progressing differently in each sector - here, it is day, but elsewhere it might be night - perhaps a week ahead, even!ā Of course, it had yet to click for Albert that he, too, was being affected.
He shook his head. Elec Man was acting somewhat oddly, certainly, but not too much unlike normal. That thing with the hands had been terribly rude, but within the parameters of what heād come to expect from the vain Lightbot.
āNever mind. Affected or not, Iām glad for your help. Come along!ā He beckoned.
āI am trying to investigate the temporal distortion - find what is causing it, and stop it. The first thing to do is to gather equipment! At least with you around, I wonāt need to expend anything on a power source.ā
āMan? I am a girl..ā Anon spoke but seeing that this man needed help and seemed to be looking for something her eyes glowed with her scanners and found a pair of glasses. āAre these..yours..?ā She tilted her head as she handed him the glasses to Wily at first but placed them on his head. āThere ya go..ā She smiled cutely at him. Her eyes were still in scanner mode.
āOh! I am so terribly sorry, young lady! Please, excuse me, my eyesight is not what it-ā Albert was interrupted by the girl sliding his glasses on to his face.
āAh, thank you,ā he said, taking a moment to adjust them to his liking. He sighed. It wasnāt just his eyesight that was going; his hearing, and his health in general, in fact. He didnāt have more than a few years more by this point. He lamented that that meant heād probably have to leave Zero buried - heād never have enough time to convert the android for peaceful purposes, and anyone else who tried would be more likely than not to die.
His internal musing was interrupted, though, when he caught sight of the girlās eyes.
āAh! Your eyes...ā He trailed off.
āPardon my rudeness, but... How did you come to have eyes like that? Are you a robot, or a cyborg?ā
Damn. Mulder should be savvy enough to know that every bit of truth came with a price. Heād risked his life on a semi-weekly basis for about a year to meet up secretly with Deep Throat.
āYou mean you want something? What do you want?ā
He tried to calculate exactly how much this information could be worth. A lot. Anything about otherworldly beings was of great value to him, he couldnāt deny that.
āOh, nothing monetary,ā Dr. Wily scoffed,Ā āI, quite wisely it seems, was careful to have a large amount of hard cash on my person at all times in case of emergency at the time I was taken here... Not quite the sort of emergency I was expecting, mind you. No, what Iām looking for is...ā He grimaced.
ā... assistance. As much as it pains me to admit it, without my robot servants and the X Foundationās resources, I am having some difficulty getting my ambitions in motion.ā
It really pained him to admit it, but another pair of helping would be as if a godsend. Heād begun construction on a robot for just that purpose, but production was slow, very slow.Ā āIt-only-has-one-arm-and-half-its-chestā slow.
āSo! You agree to a period of servitude under me, and I will pay you with all the information I have on alien beings!ā
āAnother one!? Thereās two of him now!? Im-impossible!ā
@drn008
The elderly scientist gave a brief start at the sight of the familiar frame of a familiar robot, the only one heād seen in some time. He wouldāve preferred one of his own creations, but one takes what one can get, after all.
āElec Man!ā He said, clasping the robotās hand in his own,Ā āso good to see a friendly face here! Have you been affected by this time distortion? I know you have a certain amount of immunity to such things, but this is far beyond the scale of things like the Time Slow... Oh, never mind. Come along! I could use a hand.ā
@corvidesque
Dr. Wily gave a pause in mid-step on seeing the ears of the boy, but he shook it off. As far as this city went, it wasnāt that strange. And the boy looked to be a teenager, to the good doctorās eyes, and teenagers were always doing stupid and bizarre things to their own bodies. Either way, he looked like the least temporally-confused person nearby, and he really needed help.
āYou there, young man! Could you perhaps take the time out of your day to assist a humble old man in his investigations?ā
@iceflurries
āExcuse me, young woman?ā Albert asked, gently tapping her on the shoulder as he came up from behind. Honestly! Heād noticed it before, but it had never quite clicked in his mind before now, now he was older, wiser, understood more. The way children were brought to this world, separated from their parents, and simply left to fend for themselves was simply abominable.
Although, given the temporal anomalies that suddenly plagued this city, he supposed they might not have been brought here a child.
āShould a little girl like you really be out on her own?ā
@anonymusvocaloid
āMy glasses!ā The elderly Dr. Wily cried. Heād just been minding his own business, walking down the sidewalk, when some inconsiderate buffoon had rushed past, shoving him aside! The unexpected jolt had knocked his glasses free of his face, and now...
āI canāt see without them!ā He grumbled as he got down on all fours to feel around the pavement for them. Then-Ā
He squinted at the brightly-dressed person whoād stopped just nearby. Hopefully, that meant they were inclined to help.
āExcuse me, young...ā He squinted, trying to make some sense of the blurry shape,Ā ā... man? Can you help me?ā
Alright! For this event, the good doctor will be going forwards in time - 37.426 years, specifically! If you recognize that timeframe, good for you.
What this means, is that this is a Dr. Wily who is practically dying of old age, and who has apparently reformed - but, as soon as he gets the opportunity, will go right back to his old ways. Heās a lot softer in manner and far more polite, among other things.
Like for an event starter! Cap at five. Castmates excluded.
