Okay, so dead bodies don't decompose without air, right? And that means, depending on the temperature of where you are in the vacuum that is space, that a corpse would almost certainly freeze solid rather quickly. To clarify, this means you will not decompose in space.

So then, in Wild Blue Yonder, we see the Captain's body we see looks like this:

So what was up with that? Why did she decompose and rot away down to her bones? Was she always a skeleton horse? Or did she have flesh?

Let's say she wasn't a skeleton; let's say she had meat on her bones, skin holding her together, hair on her body. Let's say she was flesh and blood, floating out in the vast and endless dark- a dark we know to be afraid of; a dark that has instinctually inspired fear in people across many planets- across the universe- since the beginning of time.

And then, let's say, that maybe, the Captain was picked clean.

Afterall, the dark expanse at the edge of creation would be a perfect place for the Vashta Nerada to be lying in wait.

Imagine growing up with Doctor Who, then getting to play the Doctor and not only getting to play the Doctor but regenerate from the one you grew up with (sort of) AND getting to play not just a quick regeneration scene, but several scenes with the actor who was a big inspiration in being an actor yourself.
