End of Semester!

Going into finals and the end of the semester and I am overwhelmed! I can't wait to be finished, and get a little bit of a break before our summer semester!

I cant believe how fast this semester flew by!

Grateful for widener for giving me these amazing group of girls! I seriously don’t know where I would be without them. I am so thankful we got put in each others lives! Having friends through nursing school to push you when you can’t push yourself is something that I've realized I needed!

Mid-Semester Update!

I cant believe how fast this semester is going! It has definitely been a challenge, and soon we will be scheduling for summer/fall classes! My clinical has been going great, getting to do more each time I’m there and getting more comfortable around the nurses/patients! Exams have been hard, and require a lot of studying. I am motivated to get through this semester, just taking it one day at a time getting done what needs to be done.

Pushing through!

Wow these past 2 weeks have been super stressful and full of anxiety for me! One of the things that really gets me is the med calc tests we have to take each semester and get 90s or greater on. The pressure of taking an exam like this isn’t easy, and it takes a toll on you mentally. Im happy to say that for now, I am moved on from the med calls and can focus on studying for our first exams coming up in a couple weeks! Once you finish something, there's always more that you can do! In nursing school, you dont get to take a break!

First Clinical Experience!

Before nursing school I new that eventually I was going to be a Pediatric Nurse, or a NICU Nurse. Kids/babies have a special place in my heart. Being able to care for them, watch them reach little yet amazing milestones is breath taking. I love the imagination of kids, I think that it keeps adults hearts young. I am so grateful that I get to experience a clinical at Dupont, a pediatric hospital. I spent the day shadowing such a kind nurse. We were able to learn about the patients on the floor, why they were there and little facts about each of them. We were on a Cardiac Step-Down unit, which consisted of most of the patients having Trachs, NG tubes and heart deficits. We were also able to observe and listen to the rounds done on each patient! This was awesome to see how in depth they go into each patient. Clinical experience is so different then sitting behind a computer, and it really gives me motivation to keep up the good work!

Day One

Today starts the very first day of the spring semester. To say that I’m overwhelmed and stressed would be an understatement. The first week/weeks are always the most overwhelming. There is information being thrown at you from all different directions from multiple classes and it can all get to be a lot. I sit here staring at my laptop as if I had never left. Winter break was over within a blink of an eye and I’m right back to my desk and my long days of studying. I know this semester is one of the harder ones, and I feel that I am as prepared as I’m gonna be for that, but I hope that with all my efforts comes success and achievements. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and seeing familiar faces! I’m also very grateful to have met the group of friends that I have through this program, from the very first day. I’m ready to take on this semester one day at a time and work my very hardest to achieve the goals I have set for myself.

Pre-Semester Feels

Hey guys! I am about to start my second semester of nursing school this week! I honestly can’t believe it. Nursing school gives me every emotion, between stress, excitement, fear and encouragement. I ended last semester with great grades and a great attitude! I am hoping and praying for the same thing this semester. I am expecting more detailed information, and definitely a bigger work load. I’ll keep posting on here throughout the semester with updates!
