That Poppy - Bubblebath EP Review
So, this is an odd album. Mostly because it comes with a story set up of a character named That Poppy. A combination of work done by singer Moriah Pereira and director Titanic Sinclair, That Poppy sort of has a story and background set up for the web series and album being tied together. That Poppy has her foot in the door within the industry, mostly with her really creepy and odd Youtube channel though. This character is a young, blond girl that usually is in a video that states things sounding like her senses are dulled in a manner that makes her sound under the influence or she’s hypnotized with choppy syntax. This is usually accompanied by some incongruous music in the background that gives this eerie vibe. Now, there are lots of theories pertaining to who this character is, from Titanic Sinclair just taking jabs at popular culture to Poppy being under “Monarch Mind Control” from the way that she talks and acts. But, all in all, the idea of these videos definitely has something sinister behind it.
The whole album is pop bangers, and sounds like it’s ripping off of anything that’s hot when talking about it sonically, but just like the videos found on her channel, the album is pretty innocent looking but further looking into some reddit pages, you have some pretty crazy theories going on when you look into the lyrics, ideals, and song tiltes. The first song lowlife is some reggae inspired pop song that sounds pretty basic with its formula, with wome very catchy melodies. It’s very cute, but not very special from the way it’s structured, how it sounds, and so forth. It’s just another pop song when first listened to. Talking about someone who “take a shitty day and make it alright.” The second verse comes in though and it kind of gets darker, if you believe all the reddit posts, and says things like “This bad taste, these headaches. Wake up on the floor again, ah yeah. My torn dress, this failed test. Soon they will be erased” supposedly describing experiences had by supposed monarch victims. The song Money is an absolute radio hit. It’s pretty basic, just as the first song. With basic electronic riffs, the whole shouty chorus with some average, but introspective, lyrics. It follows the exact formula you need to do to make a radio hit, but it has some lyrics like “They say the best things are free but I can’t get what I need without some currency” which is very interesting because you don’t get that introspectiveness with songs that are sonically radio pop songs. The song Altar is about her marrying her crush and taking him away from a toxic relationship. Just like the other songs, sonically it’s a regular pop song that’s just caked on with some synths. It’s a fun and catchy song, but that’s all it is. Now, here’s where that sinister dark side of that album will kind of look stupid when you try and put it up against this one. Some theorists will claim that just because the title references an “altar.” An altar is a slate where religious rituals are performed. Apparently this can be “easily” tied to the alleged satanic ritual abuse that goes on within the music industry. Sounds like the illuminati... All though these theories and whatnot exist, I don’t exactly believe them. Mostly because the last song is immensely less subtle with it’s message. This is what I believe the real message of the whole album is, just as Titanic Sinclair’s usual message is, just taking shots at pop culture. He over exaggerates the stereotype so much in hopes to attack the people with them, and by them, I mean pop culture. American Kids is a song lyrically criticizing a lot of things kids do and what they’re influenced by. The song instantly starts out telling the audience she sold her soul in the line “Sold my soul to the man with the handshake. Lost control but I don’t think it’s too late.” This type of line is usually in Hip-Hop that always has controversy coming to this topic in that genre, but not nearly as much as other genres, especially pop music. This is a reference to not being able to do what you want because of a signed contract to a manager or a record label. The purpose of music would be record sales and not simply doing it for the love of it. Along with that, this whole song just takes shots at millennials with lines like “Boys, aren't even boys anymore” saying chivalry is dead. So, when you take this last songs message and ideals and slap it on top of the album as the thesis, it’s pretty interesting and a very creative idea... or you could just say she’s a monarch victim or apart of the Illuminati to, I don’t judge. People can think what they want to. It’s a very simple and generic sounding album with a rare thesis that has much controversy, but displayed very subtly. This creates something very interesting and intriguing. I enjoyed this album and it’s ideals, but since it still is a very generic radio hit album I couldn’t listen to it for very long. Probably once or twice. But, all in all I would give it a 7/10
Marc E. Bassy - Groovy People EP Review
I stumbled upon this album randomly. Just going through my usual albums and I noticed an album recommendation and thought, “Well, why not?” This is my first album that I’ve listened to made by this guy. This EP is a nice little handful of songs that have a lil bit of pop and soul balanced. It has some great chill vibes. This guy is just an easy person to listen to. Something perfect to just end a day on or play on the weekend.
All in all, I think this a great starting point to listen to him. He has past projects and has been doing music for about five years, but I think this is going to be the one that people will start talking about him. With records like Subway Car that distinguish itself away from other pop records, then I think he’s going to have a major point in his career with this EP.
I’d give it a light 7.5/10

G-Eazy - When It’s Dark Out Album Review
Well if you only listen to the radio here you go. The perfect album for you. Usually hip hop has a bunch of life to it. The music flourishes with things that come from ones personality, struggle, and sometimes even combining to make a conceited mind that makes the music even different and unique which sometimes is just the icing on the cake. But, this guy only has the last one. Not really personality, and is kind of really just boring. Not really a struggle, and when he tries to talk about it, he just sounds really whiny like “oh poo, the fame is so hard.” So we just have his boring lyrics about having bands and girls and just being famous. It kind of sounds like a really bad Logic, where hes trying to copy a bunch of trendy music. But the thing is he doesn’t have a personality like Logic or struggle like Logic that makes me change the word “Copy” to “Influence” when talking about his music. This guy kind of seems like he’s catering to people who listen to the radio and only pop music. That’s the type of music where you’re not looking to sit down and really listen to an album, you’re just trying to drive home from work or something. Sonically it sounds pretty decent.. when talking about anything that isn’t his boring lame delivery. He sounds the same on every record, until that one where he auto tunes his voice a little. Not only that, his flow and delivery sounds just like Big Sean’s. It was weird to hear Big Sean on the record because half way through Big Sean’s verse I realized it was THE Big Sean and not G-ez pz. But what I did like about it sonically was the production. Honestly I heard all these beats and got really jealous that a guy like him could get on all these beats. But, I thought well I don’t have any money to buy these beats so rip sky. Anyways, the hooks were pretty spot on too. Really great in my opinion actually.. but then you get this boring rapper come in after or before and the momentum kind of just crashes. Honestly the reason why I talk so much about him being boring is because that’s the only thing to talk about. There’s really nothing more. Same flows, same delivery, same lyrics, same everything on every record. He doesn’t have a recipe other than “skinless chicken and steamed veggies.” Like people who listen to this are the type to be afraid of frying the chicken, or adding even just a little spice to it. Like they can’t handle more depth to his really shallow music. He’s on his early Drake flow when Drake was just never really getting better or getting worse. He was just being the okayest he could be. Never changing his formula and just making sure people said it’s ight and gave a lil thumbs up and never trying anything new or taking risks until later.
First album I’ve reviewed that I’ve given a 3-4/10
Robert Delong - In The Cards Album Review
I seen a friend of my girlfriend once and I asked her what music she was into and she said “YOOOO CHECK OUT ROB DA LAWNG!” well I mean that’s what I heard, but I checked him out and his latest album. This album weirdly has these rock vibes to it while sounding EDM sonically. The thing is, all of these songs sound different. You have tip-hop sounding stuff on Long Way Down, some retro pop in Future’s Right Here, and lounge pop in Acid Rain. I guess that’s the thing that makes it stand out the most. It’s such a whiplash to be listening to one song and transition to something that doesn’t sound close to the last. I mean they’re all EDM sub genres but you get the meaning, right? You could pretty much find anything that you want on here. Say you wanna dance n stuff. The opening is great for that with that driving bass. Some catchy electronic-pop stuff? Look on songs like Jealousy to satisfy you. This album brings so much versatility that it’s hard not to respect him as a musician. If you wanted a resume of what he could type of music he can create, this would be it. It’s basically a show stating that he can pretty much do all these genres. A very bold move but a successful one.
I’d say a 8/10
Panic! At The Disco - Death Of A Bachelor Review
This album I’ve actually been waiting for, so I have heard of their previous work. This album kind of splits in half. One half splits off into Panic’s old sound while the other half goes anthems that just make you feel triumphant and wanna fight something. The biggest question before this album dropped was “what genre will this album be” because they tend to switch genres with each album. Well I guess Urie was thinking “why not all of them” because it seems that this album likes to diversity in genres. The cool thing about it though is that the distinctive way Urie writes songs and lyrics stays within the core of all these genre changes throughout the album. The sad part is with all the energy and momentum throughout the album with some wild singles, it kind of slows down and loses itself with the last few songs. Other than that, the rest of the album’s traits outweighs it’s flaws. It’s weird to think about the purpose of this whole entire album though. It seems he’s shooting for the whole “I love it but I’m relieved it’s over.” Most of it is orientated towards his rockstar life when he wasn’t married I’m guessing. The opening song Victorious sounds like a pre game anthem. LA Devotee sounds like a record sending a message to LA and how much he loves it. There are some draw backs with some records like Crazy=Genius sounds like it’s centereed to the fan base that has been there from the start, but it just shows that the past is the past and that without that statement being true there would be no musical advancement at all.
All in all, I give this a 7.5/10
