Gap year cadence was everything to me.

I feel (kind of) as it was a personal attack.

And the ending left my chest aching. Literally. I mean, it really hurt. I’m not exaggerating.

I started thinking about this teen Remus, excited to see Tommy and Tonya, with his notebook writing her a song. And what was it for him when she left.

Then we got this 19 years old Remus, finding his own life and motivation, accepting his circumstances and facing them, AND WITH A GODCHILD????

Idk why thinking about Tonya and Remus hurts so much. I guess that in a way is bc it takes me back to a Remus that was so different and will never come back. And that the same for us, right?

Yeah, the epilogue didn’t help either.

The best thing about it is that, for me at least, I didn’t realize how much he had changed until I reached the end. It was SO well done that you just keep going without giving much thought. But when you look back, oh god, certainly not the same. Not him, not his relationships, not his surroundings.

Anyway, I’m so thankful that cadence exists, it’s been with me in a rough moment of my life and gave me so much comfort. I’m really happy I got to read it.

And seriously, gap year really was something else. I really really really really love it.
