Skywarp displays a lack of communication skills due to a non-standard processor setup and poor socialization. His fear of abandonment and insignificance can be linked to trauma suffered in early stages of his life; Skywarp himself also reports fragmented and missing memories from before and during experimentation suffered before his time as a Decepticon. His processor may have sustained lasting damage from the aforementioned experimentation, though no physical exam has been performed to confirm this.
His problems communicating with others, amplified by a lack of formal education, frequently lead to the incorrect assumption that he possesses below average intelligence. This causes Skywarp much frustration, which he usually works out by physically attacking whoever insulted him in an attempt to engage them on a level where he can compete.Â
He appears to be overall desensitized to violence whether he is directly involved or a spectator, and similarly unaffected by extensive gore. Exempt from this is anything related to hacking a sentient being, though his objections to that appear to be of personal rather than moral nature.Â
On an interpersonal level, Skywarp displays a penchant for tactility, often disregarding social standards of personal space. His overall demeanor is usually mischievous, seldom serious, and occasionally downright childish. He has an extensive sense of humor that frequently manifests in pranks against his comrades, or jokes that range from puns to beyond crude. In casual conversation, Skywarp tends to have a unique speech pattern riddled with contractions and slang.Â
His enthusiasm for Earth pop culture as well as an increasing reluctance to engage Autobots he meets off the battlefield in combat immediately have since been noted by his superiors, though he is under no immediate suspicion of treason and is still enthusiastically loyal to Megatron.

Skywarp was created in the polity of Vos, direct circumstances and date unknown. Like most unofficially created and subsequently âdiscardedâ mechs, he spent his life without a home, family, or even designation. Barred from education and employment, he took to stealing Energon to survive, utilizing his Sigma ability of teleportation to get away.
Shortly after Vos had officially lost the last of its independence, one such attempt failed despite his abilities and had him arrested for theft. As his spark scanned as mutated during processing, he was then turned over to the Senateâs recently established research center. Locked away for an indeterminate period of time, he suffered experimentation performed on his spark and processor.
As the Decepticons achieved control of the city, Megatron took the research facility where the captured Outliers were held and freed them. Like most of these mechs, Skywarp joined the rebels and took the Decepticon brand, finally choosing a designation for himself as he did.
After Vos was destroyed, Skywarp, along with Thundercracker, as two of the last surviving Outlier Seekers, ended up trining with the former Winglord and now Decepticon Air Commander Starscream .
While the three seemed to work well together at first, their relationship eventually became strained as Starscreamâs ruthlessness and Thundercrackerâs doubts grew. The latter eventually led to Skywarp, originally Wing-Third, taking the position of Wing-Second that had been Thundercrackerâs before.Â
