SL Bug Au lore dump

So. The bug au.

They aren't really bugs, but each steve type has bug-like features.

Red steves are lady bugs, orange steves are bees, yellow steves are fireflies, green steves are some kind of beetle (still deciding), indigo steves are moths, and blue steves are dragonflies

Forest steves are mantises, desert steves are scorpions, ocean steves are isopods, winter steves are mountain pine beetles, and obsidian steves are ants

Also they all have the amount of limbs that the actual insects have

They have similar but less exaggerated size differences to the actual bugs

They also have many of the behaviors of the bugs they have features of

This also means that forest steves and desert steves are sometimes cannibalistic : )

Uh.

Yeah this au has a lot of cannibalism sorry-

The creators, rather than each being based off one species, have a mix of features from various species :)

The Obsidian Leader is a woman in this au, since she's a queen ant

Canon ships for it: Magenta duo (Colle and Seer), Sandy Ice Duo (Desert Apprentice and Winter Apprentice), Muddy Duo (Ocean Apprentice and Forest Steve), and Warrior Duo (Beef and Obsidian Captain).

Normal bugs still exist in this world.

*They seem to be in the Forest Village...*

*Spark immediately takes Colle's hand. He's a little less nervous now that he recognizes the place, but still..*

The Forest Steves!! :D I hope they're doing well- I've not seen any around our place-!

Yeah-!

*They go looking for people.*

*They're near the outskirts of the village.*

*They don't immediately see anyone, but they do hear something moving in the trees...*

*They see something with big green eyes watching them, its body mostly blending in with the foliage.*

Oh! Hi there!

*Unlike Spark, Colle doesn't assume danger immediately. He waves casually.*

*Tney hop down from the branch, smiling. They're a forest steve, but not one that Colle recognizes. They're also quite bug-like..*

"Well, hello there!" *They tilt their head, keeping their lower set of arms tucked close,* "You're new here, right?"

*They're quite tall, towering over the two red steves.*

*He smiles kindly. Spark is cowering behind him, trying to hide his messed up face.*

"Welll, it's nice to meet you two!" *They smile wider, showing their sharp teeth...*

Nive to meet you, I'm Colle! ^^ This is Spark- sorry, he's a bit nervous-

"It's alright! Some of my friends get nervous with new people, too. I'm Butcher Forest Steve, but most people just call me Butcher or B."

*Learning Butcher's name does n o t reassure Spark.*

"Say, how about i show you around?"

*They start leading the two red steves around, but stay near the outskirts of the village...*

*He doesn't seem to mind, this Butcher fellow seems a bit standoffish so he doesn't mind. Spark is silent, keeping his eye on Butcher...and also everything that moves. He's far more jumpy than his brother.*

*Butcher leads the two of them to their shop. It's quite secluded, tucked away in a quiet corner of the village. There's flowering vines growing up the wooden walls outside.*

Oo! Those vines are beautiful-!

"Awh, thanks! I grew them myself."

Th-they are quite lovely-!

*Spark finally said something. Colle glances back at him.*

Oh-! I honestly thought you wandered away, haha-

"You two flatter me... how about you come inside?"

*Spark clearly doesn't want to, but he doesn't want to leave Colle behind to...whatever this thing actually is. It can't be a real Forest Steve, right...?*

*They open the door, leading the two of them inside.*

*It looks like a typical butcher shop, but... some of the meat has a bit of an orange tint to it and looks to have the texture of the inside of a plant rather than flesh. Strange...*

*Spark leans his whole face into Colle's back. Colle is slowly starting to sense that something's...a bit weird around here....Too late :)*

"Please, feel free to look around!" *... they conveniently step to be in front of the door.*

*Spark's melted side has, somehow, turned itself around so he literally has an eye on the back of his head now. That's...uhhh...new.... Colle nervously smiles, trying to keep his composure for Spark's sake.*

A-alright-!

*He tries to inspect the strange meat.*

*It seems to have sap dripping from it.*

*There's some treebark and moss on the pieces that have skin...*

*He recoils a little at the sight. Spark is...trying to figure out what the hell he just did right now, but can't seem to flip it back. He gives up after a minute.*

*... Colle hears someone move in the back room of the shop. The door behind the counter slowly creaks open.*

Huh-?

*Spark jumps a little at the sound.*

*Another forest steve(?) emerges from the back room, looking just as bug-like as Butcher, but a bit smaller.*

Oh- uh, hi-?

*Spark looks more nervous now. Trying to focus on both Forest Steves makes him dizzy, so he tries to just keep an eye on Butcher..*

*The other forest steve smiles and slowly walks towards Colle, half circling him.*

*Spark turns toward them, instinctively curling himself around Colle..*

*The second forest steve grabs a butcher knife from under the counter..*

*Spark hisses, wrapping around Colle so he's in front of him now. Colle keeps glancing at the door, realizing what a huge mistake this was..Spark is hugging him close.*

*Before either of them can actually attack, the door swings open and Colle hears a quite familiar voice yell,*

" W H A T do you two think you're doing?!"

*Spark, if it weren't for him hugging his brother (and looking incredibly scared), would've looked like he was trying to kidnap Colle himself. As soon as the apprentice walks in, he uncoils and wraps around himself instead.*

*Forest Apprentice rolls his eyes and grabs Colle and Spark by the wrists, dragging them out of the shop.*

*... he looks as bug-like as the other two did.*

*At this point, Spark is just happy to be outta there.*

"Yeah, yeah.. wasn't gonna let my friend get eaten.."

*Even if its painfully obviously not his Colle, he can tell its at least a version of Colle.*

*Yup. His signature scarf makes that much more obvious, not to mention his voice. Spark, on the other hand, looks like something halfway between their two worlds (and melted a bit). Strange for sure..He just nods.*

"You two gotta be more careful.. You're gonna get yourselves eaten."

That's...VERY fair. I...hadn't thought hard enough about it, sorry-

'Cause my nerves have been all over the place since, like, this morning-!

Makes sense..But uh, yeahhh...My bad.

*He laughs nervously.*

*He stares at them like they're both idiots, before finally asking,* "So.. what.. happened here? Why do you two look like that?"

Back home the sky's infested with a weird eyeball :(

*Spark tries to flip his face back out, eventually finally succeeding.*

Finally, jeez..

"... u h h u h." *He decides against questioning. That.* "How about I actually show you two around?"

Sure-! As long as it's far, far away from those two haha-

"Yeahh, Butcher is just like that. You get used to it after a while."

*He shrugs and starts leading them towards the center of the village.*

*Paul the panda is still there. At least that didn't change in this world.*

*Colle's tail wags excitedly as he sees the adorable panda.*

Hehe, you're so cute, both of you!

"You can pet him, if you want. He's friendly." *He pauses before adding,* "But if you fall in the pen, I'm laughing at you."

That's fair!

*Thanks to his lanky lower half, Spark has no trouble staying on the right side of the fence. Colle, however, stretched too far and fell face-first into it.*

Oop- thereeeeee I go-

*Forest Apprentice does, in fact, laugh at Colle.*

*Paul licks the top of Colle's head, making happy noises.*

*Spark giggles again, as Colle struggles to stand with Paul licking him. He just laughs, too.*

*Forest Apprentice walks over, pulling Colle out of the pen, still laughing.*

*Forest tosses a piece of bamboo into the pen. Paul sits down and happily eats it.*

*It looks like a typical butcher shop, but... some of the meat has a bit of an orange tint to it and looks to have the texture of the inside of a plant rather than flesh. Strange...*

*There's some treebark and moss on the pieces that have skin...*
