Hi! I'm in the process of convincing myself that posting my work and putting myself out there will (in some small ways) make me a better writer and a braver person.
So, without further ado, enjoy the opening scene to an Achilles and Patroclus AU fic situation I'm working on.
As a fair warning, Achilles and Patroclus are tragic, and so is this scene. tw suicide/death

Somehow, I was on the roof. The cold evening wind seemed to rip right through me as if I was incorporeal. I spun in place, searching, unsteady as if I had just awoken from centuries of sleep.
There.
That silhouette was unmistakable, golden hair flowing loose, his figure strong against the city lights, even as his head bent towards the city street below. As I got closer, I could see there was something amiss about that figure, something missing from him. He slumped a bit towards the edge.
I called out to him, but my voice was lost to the wind.
He took an unsteady step closer to the edge, and I cried out to him once more.
Futilely, it seemed.
With one uncharacteristically graceless wobble, he slid one foot over the edge.
One last time, I thought, just this last time, that if I called out to him maybe I could stop the scene rapidly unfolding before me.
“Achilles, please! No!”
Seemingly startled, he whips around and I catch a fleeting glimpse of the broken look on his face as he sinks, crumpled, into the night below.
I ran toward the edge, to catch him perhaps, or to watch his final moments with my own eyes, but a hand caught my shoulder before I could make it there.
The one behind me held steadfast through my inconsolable screaming, then, with a voice as smooth and gentle as silk, he whispered to me.
“Hush now… it's over. You’re dead already, there’s nothing you could’ve done. Come with me now, it’s time to try again.”
If I ask nicely will people reblog and put in the tags what their favorite kids movie is? Can be something you loved as a kid, or something aimed at kids that you watched as an adult and really liked. Please?
