RULES
01. I'm not Japanese, I'm white. I'm currently studying the Japanese language (and culture) and have been for a few years now. My knowledge comes from language & culture & history classes I took in college and my own, self-guided, post-graduation research. I frequently use resources made by BIPOC such as the blog writingwithcolor to help guide my portrayal of Kenichi. My research is ongoing and will never truly end as long as I write Kenichi. I want to emphasize my appreciation and interest in Japanese culture, especially the Edo period. Due to previous issues of people trying to rage bait me / create unnecessary drama, I am only accepting feedback on my BIPOC original characters from mutuals. Feedback from Japanese mutuals, on this blog, is always given the most attention.
02. Connected to the above, I want to note that although Kenichi's character is inspired by characters such as Jin Sakai (Ghost Of Tsushima) & Mizu (Blue Eye Samurai), I use nonfiction articles NOT popular samurai games/shows to inform my portrayal of him.
03. Mutuals only (we both follow each other) for interactions. This applies to both ooc and ic interactions.
04. 18+ for general rp interactions, 20+ for nsfw rp interactions. I usually write fade to black but will write smut with trusted RP partners.
05. DO NOT INTERACT if you are racist, Islampahobic, LGBT+phobic, ableist, are pro-Israel, pro-cop, pro-Trump, etc.
06. DO NOT INTERACT IF your primary muses are from shows such as Hazbin Hotel, Family Guy, Disney Channel shows (shows that are geared toward extremely young children such as Bluey), etc.
07. Keep call out posts away from me. I don't want to be involved with drama. The block button is free. Use it.
08. OC friendly and crossover/AU friendly.
09. Low activity. Do not spam me with "reminders" to reply.
10. NOT soft block friendly. If you don't want to interact with me hard block me. I have auDHD and can have a hard time reading social cues, ESPECIALLY digital social cues.

ABOUT
健一 (kenichi) ; meaning strong/healthy & one 白浜 (shirahama) ; meaning white beach
tw for abusive & manipulative parenting, murder, blood, mild gore, etc
Much like his last name suggests, Kenichi was born to a coastal community in the dnd/BG 3 equivalent of Japan -- specifically on a white beach. Son of the god of murder, Bhaal, and an elven woman by the name of Chiyoko, he was born in time of great bloodshed -- a civil war. With resources scarce and clashes over land/resources common, Chiyoko had devoted her blade to Bhaal in the hopes his otherworldly blessing would make her sword the deadliest in the world, in turn ensuring her region's victory in the civil war. She received his blessing and only got more blessings with every person (armed or unarmed) she cut down. Her blade became cold and ruthless... And so did her heart. When she wasn't spilling blood she was spilling pretty words, recruiting more worshippers of Bhaal.
Both of his parents valued him not as a child, but as a solider. He was clothed and fed but no love was given. He was trained to fight as soon as he could walk on his own. He did not play and he had no friends. Such things were of no use to a soldier. No matter how tired he got, no matter how lonely he felt, he was not allowed to cry. He was a weapon, and weapons do not weep.
Although the civil war would end and peace would be restored, peace would not last long. Another war broke out when he turned 16. This time the fight wasn't over resources but rather over loyalties. The ever growing cult of Bhaal, led by Kenichi's mother, had gained the attention of their neighbors. Branded as monsters following a monster, it seemed as though the world was out to get him and his family. Kenichi would lose track of how many years he fought in the name of Bhaal and his mother... Of how many souls his sword had taken. All the fighting reached a crescendo but came to a screeching halt when his mother was killed in battle.
His mother died but Bhaal did not visit. Bhaal did not care. She was just another mortal soul to him and he had a whole cult full of replacements for her. He felt profound sadness upon her death and profound relief. He could follow in her footsteps, or he could carve his own path. With Bhaal seeming too busy with his own conflicts to pay him much mind he started rebelling in small ways, fighting years worth of brainwashing with every small change he undertook. It would take many more years still but over time he shift from killing for Bhaal to killing cultists of Bhaal. His rebellion eventually reached his father who sent one of his other children (one of his half siblings) to kill him. He killed them instead.
It would become a brutal, never-ending cycle -- Bhaal sending one of his half siblings to him, him trying to reason with them and with him ultimately having to kill them. Knowing he couldn't maintain this dangerous but necessary cycle, he decided to officially commit to changing himself (and his loyalties) by becoming a cleric of Lathander. As one of Bhaal's divine enemies, Lathander was all too happy to help Kenichi. Sadly, even with Lathander's aid, Kenichi wasn't strong enough to carve his way through Bhaal's many allies and attempt to kill Bhaal or even weaken him in an attempt to restore balance to the world.
Afraid that centuries worth of fighting may lead to one of his most powerful allies against Bhaal dying, Lathander would use his divine powers to hide Kenichi's soul from Bhaal's sight.
Hiding in plain sight with Lathander's help, during the events of BG3, Kenichi is searching the world for Bhaalspawn and/or various demigods he might be able to convince to join him in fighting the Cult of Bhaal. He can be found helping the tieflings fight the goblins (and Minthara) and can also be found helping the Harpers in the Underdark.
- He will be hostile towards durges who are embracing the urges.
- He is neutral towards resisting the urge!durges and with proper teambuilding will trust/befriend them.
