so i’m still working on this, but i’ve decided to combine all my muses that i still want to write into a new multimuse. i’m super busy at the moment, what with having to move and school, but once things settle i’ll be writing again! @khrysophos is where you’ll be able to find my muses! i will make a proper promo at some point, too!

@willfulbeauty said: " when you close your eyes, do you picture me? "
When Tom Riddle closed his eyes he saw a wizard of stature, tall and dark and looming, a wand of great power between his fingers, immortality in his eyes. At his feet, bodies. Bodies of those who had thought to resist, bodies of those who had gotten in his way.
When Tom Riddle closed his eyes, he saw himself and power - one and the same, he was one, and he was the other. When the word touched a person’s lips, it was he they saw within their minds. The most powerful wizard alive, a man who defied boundaries. A man with no limits. A man who did not bow down to old age - who defied all laws.
When Tom Riddle closed his eyes he saw Lyanna Stark. Dark hair and eyes full of starlight, lips like rose petals. She was not among the bodies, nor did she mingle among those who looked up at him so fervently. She looked with him - down at them all.
When Tom Riddle closed his eyes, he saw what he wished his future to be like. What he was going to make his future be like. Him, strongest of all - and Lyanna Stark, HIS.
Gentle smile played around the boy’s lips as slender hand took hers, lifted digits to his mouth and kissed her knuckles. “ I see no one else. ”
sure, I don’t get a “healthy” amount of sleep like SOME PEOPLE do but can they do THIS *stands up, blacks out for a second*

PERHAPS HE SHOULD FRIGHTEN HER . what is it that they said , in the old books ? look like the innocent flower , but be the serpent under it . that is tom ; beautiful , poisonous , but caelestis will not have him any other way . for he touches her gently , in a way that makes her feel as if she is precious . when he bows her head she feels invincible . such a soul bending to her ’ s ; gold & grey swirling together in a divine , messy way .
❛ you could never frighten me , ❜ she says , & it comes out hotly . he could do everything that he is destined to —- DESTROY , RESHAPE , DIE ; but she will never be afraid . she has known him too long ; felt him in moments of panic , sadness , even the limited taint of fear lining his emotions in rare , brief moments . she knows him inside out . ❛ i do not want to tell you , not all of it . i think — i worry that if i tell you , it will come true . ❜ she is apologetic , in a sort of way ; she hates disappointing .
❛ it ’ s hard to explain , really . souls , i mean. yours used to be black —- it used to fight me , when i looked . hurt , sharp . but now it ’ s alright . all grey , like a dove , & it doesn ’ t mind when i look . ❜ she strokes his sharp cheekbones with a thumb .
It should anger him ; perhaps once, it would have. Once, he’d been only an orphan, raised loveless, reaching for a higher purpose, taking a knife to his soul and burying the pieces so far away, no one would find them. But when she said he did not frighten her, he only felt a sharp twang of relief, of acceptance. He was not feared. Perhaps, he thought, that meant he was LOVED.
“ You worry me, ” he retorted, head tilting slightly, a bird’s odd stare. “ How am I to look for what might come true, if I don’t know the signs? ” Fear was a foreign emotions, and yet he could taste it, there at the back of his tongue, sour and penetrating. What she kept from him - how bad was it, truly?
It had been easier, he thought, when his soul had still been black as night. When it was made of edges, and pieces that hurt to touch. He’d been safe, then, from all of it. This grey, this dove she spoke of - it was vulnerable, open to sensations he had once thought didn’t belong. Yet she guided him, cradled dove-like soul. Kept all he felt safe within her slight palms. “ Is that what is supposed to happen? ” he asked, brows dipping. “ Am I supposed to have a soul like that? ”

For a moment, she had the impulse to scoff, to swivel around in her chair and find Fred and George grinning at her. Do you like it? It’s new! But it was only her in the room. Only her and the diary.
( Only her and Tom Riddle )
A bead of ink plopped down from her still-frozen quill, bleeding onto the parchment before disappearing as if the diary were an endless well, and Tom’s words went with it. Aghast, she spread her freckled fingers over the page but they came away dry, the paper as clean and untouched as before.
Hello, Tom, she wrote hastily. I found you by accident. You went to Hogwarts?
In 1943, she supposed, or around that time. Before either of her parents had even been born. Maybe her father would know what sort of book this was, if people often kept diaries that could talk back. It made enough sense to Ginny. Maybe whoever had owned this diary had wanted a friend in their pocket, or just a way to say all the things they couldn’t say to anyone else without the fear that someone would come across the book and flip through their secrets.
She watched as her untidy scrawl melted down into the diary only to be replaced by Tom’s answer, each letter neat and deliberate.
Diary was not just a compilation of the many memories a sixteen-year-old halfblood orphan had gathered throughout his years, no. This diary was the heart of a boy who was living with both feet in two different wars, unloved, uncared for. This diary was the heart of a child who did not know a mother’s love, and had learned to grasp at affection with his TEETH.
I did.
It was a diary he had never used - as it was him, and it was not, and it served a purpose much more divine than simply a means to communicate with himself. No, this diary was a safety net. Should he fall, this would ensure he could rise once more.
By accident? The words followed a moment later, underneath previous scrawl. I don’t believe in accidents. Things happen for a reason, at all times, I think. It is nice to meet you.

Why did you say that Voldemort's inspiration came from Russian lore?
BECAUSE VOLDEMORT IS AN ABYSS of knowledge. he is intellectually thirsty with no satisfaction in life. he did not wake up one day & decided what he was going to do, what he was going to be called, & how people are going to view him. he is too meticulous to not have a long-term game plan. here are 2 examples of russian lore that voldemort used :
KOSCHEI THE DEATHLESS : koschei cannot be killed in conventional ways especially targeting the body. instead, he used a horcrux ( also referred to as his death, or his soul ), which is inside a needle, which is in an egg, which is in a duck, which is in a hare, which is in an iron chest buried under an oak tree on the islands of Buyan. if the chest is dug up and opened, the hare will bolt away; if it is killed, the duck will emerge and try to fly off. anyone possessing the egg has Koschei in their power. he begins to weaken, becomes sick, and immediately loses the use of his magic. if the egg is tossed about, he likewise is flung around against his will. if the needle is broken, Koschei will die. which, arguably, a version of koschei probably exists in the harry potter world.
BABA YAGA : who has different versions of the character depending who is telling the story & the country ( whereas she is portrayed in russian lore, she also is famous across eastern europe where voldemort travelled post-graduation ). it is heavily speculated that baba yaga is not her real name considering baba means old woman or grandmother. despite the meaning, she was a terrifying character who is prone to cannibalistic ways. any who…. it has been said that if you called baba yaga by her real name then she will come to you which is a parallel of deathly hallows of what happened when you say ‘voldemort.’
so with permission to reblog this, catch me stressing this out :
“voldemort is an abyss of knowledge”
damn right he is. this guy, from a very young age, has this curious and ambitious nature and wants to LEARN. any bit of knowledge he can get his hands on, he takes and dissects until he understands it fully or has no questions left. you bet he read up on folklore. you bet he read stories of koschei and baba yaga and saw opportunities most wouldn’t, ways to inspire fear and respect. you bet he used all the knowledge he possessed to get on top of things.

“HOW WOULD YOU KILL ME THEN, IF YOU WANTED TO?” perhaps it was a morbid sort of curiosity that drove her to ask the question, or perhaps it was something else entirely. lyanna truly did not know. all she knew was that her blood thrummed in his presence, and all her senses seemed keener around him to the finest degree. the she-wolf was so very aware of tom riddle ; his movements, his breathing, the odd lilt to his words as he spoke them. her skin prickled pleasantly where they touched, and the flush of her skin was all the evidence he needed against her.
a smirk quirked up her lips at his undoubtedly wise words and the she-wolf leaned back slightly, folding her arms across her chest. “well, we all love swords around here, too. as you probably might have noticed. i’d say it’s all very thematic. honor, swords, sons — only daughters seem out of place.” there was a significant amount of bitterness in her inflection, and lyanna made no effort to hide it. “maybe i want to do something dishonorable.” the way she said it, with twin cold fires burning behind her gaze, was almost a challenge — a test as to how far they were willing to take whatever this was that brewed between them.
her stare moved onto his lips, so full and inviting, before it flickered up to meet his eyes. “there are many things in the forest here. unicorns, wolves… one wolf in particular is said to be… very dangerous.” tom was close, so close that lyanna would have kissed him if she dared to move an inch closer. but she didn’t. she kept still and waited, and spoke against his lips just as he did against hers. “i’m in if you are.”
“ But I don’t want to. ” It was only when the words hung in the air between the pair of them that he knew them to be true. “ Death is so final, and--- ” I don’t want there to be finality to you. Still, he thought, he should answer her question. Lips puckered slightly as he pondered possibility after possibility. “ But if you must have an answer, then take this. I would like to look you in the eyes as the light leaves them. ” It was oddly intimate, to tell her this, to speak such truths, when he had killed before, and had not bothered once to wait for the breath run out. He wondered if she could see the blood on his hands as clearly as he could - he wondered if she would care as little as he did.
“ Men never learn. ” What was he, if not a man, too? No, he was more. He was immortal. The laws of men did not apply to a god. Yet, for as far as he was removed from Death’s embrace, she did steal the breath from him. She burned him alive with the heat in her gaze, and he was utterly helpless in wake of it, breath rushing past his lips. “ Something dishonorable? ” A question ; an invitation. Not even the sky is the limit, dark eyes seemed to say. I see boundaries, and I rip them apart.
“ I think that wolf will find that snakes are dangerous, too. ” There was nothing but their mingled breaths between them. Nothing but that and a fine line. I see boundaries, and I rip them apart. He smiled. “ And their bite can be very lethal, if provoked. ” Then he did close the distance, only to turn his head ever so slightly, mouth aligning to her ear, throat exposed to wolf’s fangs. “ Will you lead the way, then? ”
