Serena is not a fan of the new construction-chic Lumiose look or Tarragon

Apparently, Serena had this lovely man to thank for the dumpster fire that was construction-chic Lumiose. But really, obstacle courses out of scaffolding? What an incredibly stupid idea! It wasn’t even just that the ostentatious ugly structures were being erected without care, but were seemingly there now on a semi-permanent basis and the most ludicrous safety violation Serena had ever seen in construction.

Five years ago, construction workers stopped everyone from entering most of Lumiose City because of a power outage making things somewhat dangerous.

Now?

Oh, please go galavanting into dangerous construction areas! Here, we’ll make it easier for you and even give you a prize! No, no, please pay no mind to the loose nails, broken glass, pitfalls, unstable structures, and the multitude of other things that could poke your eyes out and kill you. It’s an obstacle course, you see!

How many injuries from civilians had been reported on a daily basis from such a ludicrous thing? Rotom Phones could only do so much, and not everyone had one. Given the already precarious nature of scaffolding’s stability in the first place, amping up that concern by purposefully making it an obstacle course, the issues of people now being encouraged to access live construction zones with no safety precautions, and the added teensy weensy minor problem of telling everyone to trespass on private property, it was a wonder they didn’t already have multiple civilian deaths on their hands!!

Please, scaffolding obstacle courses were a recipe for disaster.

Serena was steadfast that Glaive was a secret softy. Urbain had many concerns, but quickly realized that convincing Serena that her precious baby was obviously a murder drone was not in the cards for him. The Bisharp looked at Urbain like he was deciding if he’d rather have him filleted or shish kabobbed!

That… that thing was more terrifying than Yveltal, the literal god of death, lounging not even 5 feet away.

Serena x Urbain (XYZ Shipping)

Summary:

At 13, Serena became the Kalos League Champion, rocketing her into stardom, fame, and glory. Unable to settle down permanently in Kalos just yet, possibly (probably) due to trauma, Serena heads to Hoenn under the guise of studying the origins of Mega Evolution, only briefly returning to Kalos to handle Champion affairs when absolutely needed.

Five years later, after seeing a very odd promotional video for Hotel Z, Serena is stunned. AZ, the 3,000-year-old giant homeless senile war criminal who interrupted her Champion parade, owned a HOTEL?! Serena decides that a stay in Lumiose is in order immediately. What was supposed to be a drop-in visit quickly spirals into another massive undertaking, featuring a wide array of new and fun colorful megalomaniacs, and training a brand new team.

At least this time, it was just the fate of Lumiose on the line, not the destruction of the entire world and every life form on it. Small victories.
