Never did this meme, now I have
As someone who is touch starved and loves cuddles, saying I love you, and hugs, cyana is my dream friend/girlfriend . Like one I know wouldn’t judge me if I called her at 2 am hysterically crying, having an existential crisis, a bad panic attack, or wanted to hurt myself, she would just talk to me or maybe visit me if I needed it. Sorry I’m just projecting cause I’m having a very bad day, worse than usual. Thank you pat for this beautiful comfort character, I shall now use my maladaptive daydreaming to make a universe with cyana to cope with being alive and the HECK that is junior year. Also now I’m gonna make so much fan art💛🌸✨🏳️🌈

GUESS WHO GOT THEIR LONG TIME NEEDED THEROPAY SESSION
ITS ME, I AM THE THERAPPY KID, IM GONNA TALK ABOUT MY ADHD-LIKE TENDENCIES
Someone commented that they don't experience breaking down but rather, anger.
I'd argue that's two sides of the same coin.
Something goes wrong and we implode inwards or explode outwards.
[here's the link to the thread for those who can't read the picture]
1. Beautiful art
2. I care
3. I also feel the same way
Calories don't go in they just come out
I felt this on a personal level
rsd is not a condition. rsd is not a diagnosis. rsd is not a medically recognized symptom of adhd and the experience "rsd" describes is not exclusive to adhd at all. this does not mean people with adhd can't experience rejection sensitivity, but "rsd" as an "adhd" thing is a concept with no emprical backing developed by one man, with claims of it being brain-based without any evidence behind that claim, as well as many other claims surrounding the "nature" of rsd. adhd is a condition characterized by executive dysfunction, which can involve emotional dysregulation, but acknowledging that is different from the framework of "rsd" and seeing people on this site pass this around without critical thought and even claiming rsd is "adhd only >:(" makes me sick. you're buying into what's basically pop psychology instead of scientific research.
emotional dysregulation and rejection sensitivity is by no means adhd exclusive, and people with adhd experiencing those things doesn't need to have its own special label or whatever when there's no meaningful difference between someone with adhd experiencing those things and someone without adhd experiencing those things. that's not logical and a ridiculous mentality of "rsd is adhd ONLY because our rejection sensitivity is SPECIAL" completely goes against building common ground with other neurodivergent people for petty and invalid reasons.
the amount of misinfo going around about adhd on this site is uncanny. please investigate claims others make about disability and do your research - actual research, which doesn't include tumblr posts that lack citation and oft unreliable sources like ADDitude Mag and WebMD. it would be INFINITELY more productive to operate on a shared experience of emotional dysregulation and rejection sensitivity among varying groups of neurodivergent people than to feed into this nonsensical idea of "adhd-only special super rejection sensitivity."
YALL I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING
so percy jackson obviously has adhd
and a common symptom of adhd, for lack of a better term that i know of, is a bad sense of time. so half an hour can seem like a minute or 3 hours
and in the book ‘percy jackson’s greek gods’, he describes one of kronos’ powers as control over time
for example, he can make an hour long lecture seem like five hours and a weekend seem like 2 hours.
HES TALKING ABOUT HIS ADHD YALL
I JUST REALIZED THIS
Oh my gods!
Idk man saying shit like "omg george is so patient with dream" feels really dehumanizing and like yall think ppl with ADHD are inconveniencing everyone around us.
yeah, I do feel like a burden to everyone else cause of adhd
this is not what i wanted.
Ive only been on adderall for like two days, but already it feels like my life is improving.
But nah, all I have is anxiety, right mom???
Oof big relate
just because someone with mental illness romanticizes their mental illness doesn’t mean you can too
it’s sometimes a coping mechanism and doesn’t make the person’s experience any less valid. but if you are not mentally ill, just fucking don’t do it. it makes me sick.
so I have adhd, depression, anxiety, RSD, etc.
and I do kind of do this to cope
treatment for adhd social skills deficits is really like “be more self aware. be more conscious of what other people think of you. look at yourself through others’ eyes. think about what is normal in this situation. inhibit the ways you want to act, and copy what others are doing instead. consider everything you say before you say it”
and all the adults with (social) anxiety who didn’t get diagnosed with adhd until they were adults are like hm why did nobody know i had adhd as a child. girl it’s bc your disorders cancel each other out and the weird ass symptom profile left behind was mistaken for an unpleasant personality
"You shouldn't worry about your notes looking pretty"
"You shouldn't care if your food looks aesthetic"
"You put way too much time into making sure your space is pretty"
"You really shouldn't care about how well decorated your room is while clean"
Am I the only person who recognizes that if I go out of my way to make things enjoyable to particpate in or look at, it will give me the dopamine to do it?
I don't get mini brain treats when I complete a task.
You know what does? Making my notes look sparkly, making my healthy food look aesthetc so I feel better about not eating junk food, etc.
I'm glad you don't have to go around performing little extra things to get your mind to function, but I do
So lay off
symptoms I experience with my mental disorders ✌️🤠
Cause it’s nice to know i’m not a freak and other people go through it to. So maybe someone else with these disorders can feel better too seeing this.
Brain go 😑
I wanna talk about stims
Like can we talk about stims for a quick moment?
First off, what is a stim? By definition it’s referred to as “self stimulating behaviors, usually involving repetitive movements or sounds”.
Stims have a wide variety of choices depending on what people normally do, it’s not a definite autistic trait however most autistics do use stimming as a form of self calming or soothing.
However stimming can mean something else entirely, just because you stim does not mean you are autistic, there can be a variety of reasons why you stim. For example, you could just generally feel anxious or nervous, you could have restlessness, or you are just very energized.
There are a bunch of different kinds of stims too. The most common are nail biting, hair twirling, cracking knuckles or other joints, drumming your fingers, tapping a pen or pencil, jiggling your foot, tongue clicking or even whistling.
However there are also some more extreme stims such as head banging, like against an actual object, or biting whether it be on an object or a person. These stims are very prominent in young kids with adhd or autism.
Now there are some less severe but also not as common stims (some of which I didn’t even know until I looked this up) which could be rocking yourself back and forth, pulling hair, repetitive blinking, rearranging or moving things, scratching or rubbing your skin, licking objects, staring at moving fans or any other rotating object, flicking or snapping your hands and fingers, repeating words or phrases excessively, and smelling objects or people.
I know. Crazy right?
Now all of these stims you may have done at least a few times in your life, but not all of them relate to autism. The common stims are very prominent in neurotypical people and neurodivergent people. So stimming is not a for sure way of diagnosing your autism or not, however it’s always a start or a place to come back to that creates the foundation of autism.
Here are some examples of my stims as a self diagnosed autistic teen:
Repetitive blinking (I literally did not know this was an autistic thing I did until I looked it up and it blew my mind)
Repetitive noises (I make weird little grunts that sound like I’m clearing my throat and it drives my family insane)
Chewing pens and pencils (always gotta have something in my mouth)
Rocking
Twirling hair
Messing with the strands on my jackets. You know those things on the hoodie that you can pull and the hood gets smaller; I literally cannot stop rolling those strings up as I sit in class it’s become a habit now
Scratching/rubbing my skin (specially face)
Picking at scabs
Biting and punching (this is usually when I’m very overwhelmed and stressed. Kinda like when a child had a tantrum; this is what I do)
Cracking knuckles
Drumming fingers
Jiggling my foot
Nail biting
As I was writing this list I realized how much I do dear lord.
Anyways
Stimming does not always equal neurodivergent or neurotypical, there’s a wide variety of stims and reasons for stimming.
If you are struggling with self diagnosing I would look at a variety of symptoms that autistic people have
And here’s a tip for you
If you’re realizing your autistic later in your life, it means you’re doing something called masking or camouflaging (I’ll explain this in my next post). In the meantime, do some research. I’ll try to help out as many of you as a can but doing your own research for your own symptoms really does help.
Stay safe
