Made with natural blue apatite gemstone beads and Swarovski Crystal Caribbean blue opal bicone beads. Everything is strung on silver plated headpins and hung from silver plated ear hooks. 1 1/4 inches long (3.2 cm) Apatite is a common mineral that is a favorite among gemstone collectors because of the wide variety of lovely colors it comes in. But despite the fact that apatite is the defining mineral for 5 on the Mohs hardness scale, the gemstone remains virtually unknown and is rarely found in jewelry stores. The name 'apatite' was derived from a Greek word meaning 'cheat' since apatite closely resembles other, more valuable gemstones. As a result, apatite became unfairly labeled as the 'deceitful stone'. The beads used in these earrings are a mix of lighter and darker blues with natural tan inclusions. Because of the varying color play, each bead has unique colors.

Made with translucent blue teardrop shaped lampwork glass beads and faceted metallic brown glass beads. Everything is strung on beading wire and attached to a gold plated spring ring clasp and gold plated jump ring. Finished off with gold plated crimp tubes and gold plated wire guards. 8 1/4 inches long (21.1 cm). The large size is due to the size of the lampwork beads, with an interior size of 7 inches (17.7 cm) The lampwork beads have three small bumps each on the larger end of the teardrops. Shimmery brown stripes circle the top and bottom of the beads, matching the metallic beads. The coin used for size reference is an American penny. Carnelian is one of the many semi precious types of quartz. It gets its color from iron oxide. The stones in these earrings have faint banding and natural dark inclusions at the back of the beads. Because the beads were hand cut, they vary in size and shape.
