I want this to be my job
A spirit hangs out in the collections room where I volunteer Every time I open the door I feel tense about looking in bc I know if I look hard enough I'd see it It's a sleepy ghostie and when I wish it a good nap it gets this happy fuzzy yawn vibe
I'm considering building an altar (like the actual table part) by hand any suggestion on what sort of wood to use or how to treat it?
I’m not a carpenter so I have NO idea. Followers? Anyone have any suggestions?
Omg it depends on how carpentry-wise you're feeling
If you want to look for recycled/reclaimed materials that could be a cool nod to protection of the environment and giving things new life
If you want to get cheap wood from a hardware store there's a lot of pine two by fours and planks and similar, used traditionally in building
There's nicer woods like oak and birch and etc and you can look up the associations of those depending on your belief system, the types that are native to your area, go on some nature walks and see if your local forest gifts you some supplies (manners- ask first, thank after and don't take anything still living!!)
As for design, things to think about include: where is it going? How big an altar can fit in the space? What does it need to hold? How many legs?
Last of all look up relevant HGTV and/or DIY channel videos, measure twice cut once, and have fun!!

When Brazilian graphic designer Carol Rossetti began posting colorful illustrations of women and their stories to Facebook, she had no idea how popular they would become.
Thousands of shares throughout the world later, the appeal of Rosetti’s work is clear. Much like the street art phenomenon Stop Telling Women To Smile, Rossetti’s empowering images are the kind you want to post on every street corner, as both a reminder and affirmation of women’s bodily autonomy.
“It has always bothered me, the world’s attempts to control women’s bodies, behavior and identities,” Rossetti told Mic via email. “It’s a kind of oppression so deeply entangled in our culture that most people don’t even see it’s there, and how cruel it can be.”
Rossetti’s illustrations touch upon an impressive range of intersectional topics, including LGBTQ identity, body image, ageism, racism, sexism and ableism. Some characters are based on the experiences of friends or her own life, while others draw inspiration from the stories many women have shared across the Internet.
“I see those situations I portray every day,” she wrote. “I lived some of them myself.”
Despite quickly garnering thousands of enthusiastic comments and shares on Facebook, the project started as something personal — so personal, in fact, that Rossetti is still figuring out what to call it. For now, the images reside in albums simply titled “WOMEN in english!“ or ”Mujeres en español!“ which is fitting: Rossetti’s illustrations encompass a vast set of experiences that together create a powerful picture of both women’s identity and oppression.
One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the way it has struck such a global chord. Rossetti originally wrote the text of the illustrations in Portuguese, and then worked with an Australian woman to translate them to English. A group of Israeli feminists also took it upon themselves to create versions of the illustrations in Hebrew. Now, more people have reached out to Rossetti through Facebook and offered to translate her work into even more languages. Next on the docket? Spanish, Russian, German and Lithuanian.
It’s an inspiring show of global solidarity, but the message of Rossetti’s art is clear in any language. Above all, her images celebrate being true to oneself, respecting others and questioning what society tells us is acceptable or beautiful.
“I can’t change the world by myself,” Rossetti said. “But I’d love to know that my work made people review their privileges and be more open to understanding and respecting one another.””

Me when I’m talking to queer Heathens: Well historically heathens were kind of weird re: sexuality and our modern understanding of sex and gender isn’t necessarily how they thought about stuff back then and we don’t really know if everyone thought of sexuality in the same way and Christianity influenced attitudes towards it a lot.and stuff.
Me when I’m talking to queerphobic Heathens: All ur faves are hella queer I’m sorry I don’t make the rules.

Why grow balls when you can grow a vagina
vaginas don’t represent courage, dignity, or strength
I’m sorry, when you can push a five to ten pound human out of your body then you can talk to us about courage, dignity and strength.
Say it one more time.
*whispers* if the majority of millenials vote for Bernie Sanders in the presidential election he will win by a land slide, pass it on
Calling All Witches
I need a spell to get my significant other to break up with me?? i’m just not happy in this relationship but i can’t break up with him for personal reasons. please help!!
Reblogging in case any of my followers can help out.
Important spell. You need a cup of war water and his contact info in your phone.
Walk up to your soon to be ex. Chant "this relationship is not in my best interests and I choose to move on now." Repeat however many times you'd like.
If he tries to argue or says anything other than "ok I understand," toss the water into his face to symbolically wash away his control over you. Depending on the levels of passive aggressiveness in his response, you might want to do this regardless of what he says.
Then, turn clockwise 180 degrees, walk 10 paces, stop and delete his contact info from your phone. Bonus points for blocking him on social media for a while.
You are now broken up. Be free and seek out the life and relationships that are in your highest good.
No one has the right to hold you captive in a situation where you're unhappy. Supporting a person you care about should never sacrifice your personal happiness or freedom to this extent. If it's more serious than this, seek out help- friends, family, professionals- to get away from him.
I wish the best for you and your situation.
a perfectly fine response to victim blaming

are there any college careers that involve paranormal stuff? or just learning about witchcraft and stuff? is this a dumb question i just really want to study all of this for the rest of my life
Anthropology or religious studies, maybe
I actually found all this through my religious studies major. My senior thesis was on how the collective unconscious influenced the developments of myth in ancient Mesopotamia
I had a friend who's thesis was about the use of the zodiac in Judaic ancient traditions (circa 70 bce)
And there was a whole class on the atmosphere of magicians and magic and buying spells and charms around 0 cre in the Middle East and Roman Empire
I learned about the cleansing and blessing rituals the lay people around Tibetan and northern Indian Buddhist temples receive in return for donations to the monasteries
There are tons of other examples but yeah
Religious studies rocks
neurodivergent witches

organizing your altar and making a place where you feel comfortable
designing your own system of magic when others don’t make sense or connect with you
using spells as positive affirmations
exploring/affirming your identity through your spiritual self
being and feeling powerful and mighty, even if some people underestimate you
incorporating positive coping mechanisms (self care, self talk, affirmations, visualizations) into your craft
stimming while in trances, stimming as a way to direct energy
your craft changing as you do, fluid and fluctuating
using journals and grimoires to track your thoughts and impulses
i wish u clear skin and happiness
